Everywhere I turn in the blogosphere (because I’m sure you can rotate in cyberspace), these “This or That” surveys keep cropping up, and since I don’t want to miss out on the fun, I’ve decided to hop on the party train (engine engine number 9 on the New York transit line….) and get with this. Or I could get with that. I think I’ll get with this, for this is where it’s at.
One more time since yesterday was so much fun.
Here they come yo, here they come….
1. Math or English?
Since this is a blog, where I try to write and stuff, I choose English. If you ever need someone to recite a fairly big chuck of Chaucer’s, The Prologue, then I’m your girl and I can do it in Old English, accent and all. I know this skill will come in handy someday. Just wait and see.
2. Summer or Winter?
I can’t pick. I’m only on number two and I’ve blown it already. Here’s the thing, I love the heat of summer and the light, crisp and refreshing food flavors which come with it. In the winter though, I’m all about curling up next to the fireplace with my frisky felines and my equally frisky Hubby (heh, heh) and enjoying a warm bowl of soup and a hunk of fresh bread. I truly love each of the four seasons and how our diets and food cravings change with every one. It keeps life interesting.
3. Morning or Night?
100% morning. I am a full-fledged card-carrying morning person. I could have the whole house cleaned (or at least a room), a blog posted, a batch of muffins made and snacks prepped in the first few hours of every day. Unfortunately having to be at work at 8 a.m. kind of screws that up. And I’m completely worthless at night time; I shut down around 8 p.m. but stay up a couple more hours, which is when I do my loopiest shit (walk into walls, have giggle fits and speak gibberish – this is a language, and I am fluent). The Hubby finds me pretty amusing.
4. Full House or Family Matters?
Saved by the Bell. Sorry, is that cheating. Oh well, I’m over it because I don’t know who was more annoying: Steve Urkel or Stephanie Tanner. Now there’s a good this or that question.
5. Tea or Coffee?
I know tea is the healthier choice, but I gotta go coffee. And I like it strong, like hair on your chest strong. I do try to limit myself to one cup a day though. Afternoon coffee is a special treat, or should I say Delight even….
6. Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings?
I’m not a sci-fi or fantasy snob, so I like them both. In fact, I read all the books for each series, and if I was forced to pick, I’d guess I’d have to say Lord of The Rings. Small confession: I think Smeagol’s adorable. He’s so cute, yet so twisted; kinda 50 shades before there was Christian.
7. Black or White?
Both colors can be equally impactful, especially when paired. Therefore, my choice is black and white together. By the way, have I mentioned I’m horrible at these things, and I’m stubborn.
8. Dogs or Cats?
Cats. I truly love all animals, but appreciate felines self-sufficiency and independence. Plus they like to sleep in sun patches, and I can totally relate to that.
9. McDonald’s or Burger King?
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. I wouldn’t touch either with a ten foot pole, attached to a fifty yard ruler, hooked on the Hubby’s finger. I’m not sure what they’re selling, but it ain’t food.
10. Cake or Pie?
Pie please. Preferably stuffed with fruit, also known as nectar of the gods.
11. Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla, but only if it’s covered in fruit.
12. Jocks or Nerds?
Pass. I think everybody brings something unique to the table.
13. Cable or Internet?
I’d have to go Internet because I can watch my television shows on it. I didn’t cheat on this one; it was a trick question.
14. MySpace or Facebook?
Facebook, although I resisted it and all social media for years. I finally caved in a few months ago; now I’m a junkie, and I can’t get enough. This is my new profile picture, and yes this is my head on Linda Hamilton’s body because that’s normal. It helps to know someone in IT; little photoshopping wizards.
15. The Simpsons or Family Guy?
The Simpsons, and I actually remember when Bart used to say “Eat My Shorts.”
16. Coke or Pepsi?
Neither. I drink water, coffee or alcohol with a strong focus on the former. Back in the day, I would have picked Pepsi though.
17. Batman or Superman?
This is tough one since they both wear form-fitting tights, but only one can fly, so I have to go with Superman (a jock and a nerd; it all comes full circle).
18. Fantasy or Reality?
I like fantasy movies, but prefer reality television. Yes, I know it’s not real and complete garbage; humor me, it’s an escape. Besides they’re not all total smut. Top Chef, Project Runway, and So You Think You Can Dance are good well-rounded reality tv shows. No nasty girl fights or bad breakups happening here.
19. Comedy or Horror?
Depends (I told you I was bad at these things). If I’m with the Hubby it’s going to be a comedy, but if I’m home alone, I chose Horror because I like to scare the crap out of myself. I will also never ever sleep with the closet door open because I know monsters exist; I saw Poltergeist.
20. Pancake or Waffles?
No contest, it’s pancakes stuffed with fruit.
21. Baked or Fried?
No brainer, I’ve gotta go baked (hee, hee), and here’s why: when you fry things, that’s all you taste; fried greasy batter and not much else. Don’t agree? Try these baked sweet potato fries, and then we’ll talk.
22. China or Japan?
I’m picking China because their gymnasts are so cute and my sister-in-law is from China, which makes my niece 100% beautiful.
23. Hamburgers or Hotdogs?
I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year now, but in the past, I could put down some hot dogs, and more often than not, I’d slice them down the middle and stuff them with cheese. You see why I gave up meat; nothing good was coming from that.
24. Salt or Pepper?
Since I love veggies, salt is a must; it helps enhance their wonderful flavors. I prefer sea salt because I love the coarse grains. I also have Pink Himalayan and Black Truffle salt on hand. I went to a food expo last fall and the Salt Sisters were out in full force, so I stocked up.
25. Peanut Butter or Jelly?
Peanut butter, preferably with a spoon and the jar. If you take away my utensil, I will use my fingers.
26. Boxers or Briefs?
Hmmmm, can I say commando. Alright, alright it’s boxers. Seems like the right time for a joke about peacocks (separate the syllables).
27. Amazon or Ebay?
Amazon Prime. Free next day shipping baby. Enough said.
28. TV shows or Movies?
When I had time to watch either, it was tv during the week and movies with the Hubby on the weekend.
29. Pen or Pencil?
Pen; learn to commit.
30. Phone Call or In person?
In person only because I hate talking on the phone, which is kind of a bummer since the majority of my family lives in a different state.
31. Video Games or Board Games?
Board games, but I once ruled at old school Nintendo. Galaga was my shit. The new games are way too high-tech for me. I prefered when the character went from left to right across the screen; none of these crazy 360 degree angles.
32. Shower or Bath?
Showers unless I’m cold, and once the temperature drops, I’m always cold, chilled to the bone cold, so soaking in the tub is an ideal way to reheat and end my day. And I love bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles.
33. Rain or Snow?
I’m a home-grown Buffalonian, so I must, must, must choose snow. There’s nothing lovelier than fresh fallen snow. Plus, shoveling is a hell of a workout, and you know how I like to sweat.
34. Pixar or Dreamworks?
I have no opinion either way, which is shocking, even for me.
35. 30 Rock or The Office?
Thirty Rock; this show cracks me up, and the Hubby likes it too (bonus points).
36. Rock or Rap?
OMG, OMG, I can’t pick. Yesterday was rock, but today is all about rap.Tomorrow will probably be show tunes and jazz hands (don’t judge).
37. Ketchup or Mustard?
I don’t use much of either, but mustard would be the dominant once, since I think ketchup is pretty much sugar in a semi-solid state. Sorry, I said it.
38. White or Wheat?
White is boring in food form. Give me wheat with nuts, grains, oats, and seeds. Yum.
39. Love or Money?
Don’t tell anyone because I wouldn’t want to ruin my reputation, but I’d choose love. Money comes and goes; love can last a lifetime.
This picture is kind of weird; they’re like six years old. Where are their parents?
40. Movies or Reading?
I heart a good movie, but reading is my one true love (next to the Hubby, of course). The only problem with reading is once I start a book, I have to finish it even if it’s terrible. What can I say, it’s my self diagnosed OCD rearing its ugly head.
41. Car or Motorcycle?
Cars because motorcycle helmets would mess up my hair, and there’s that whole fear of severe head injuries. You must protect the face at all costs. This is very important, and yes I realize, vain.
42. Michael Jackson or Elvis?
No contest; it’s Michael Jackson. The early years though before he went all white on us.
43. France or Italy?
I’d take either. Their health care benefits are phenomenal…and free (there’s that). And my god, the food: pastries, pastas, gelato, rich creamy sauces. I’m salivating just thinking about it. Alright who wants to go to France? Or Italy? I’m not picky.
44. Gift Cards or Cash?
Gift cards because at least it feels like you put some thought into it, even if it is minimal.
45. Paper or Plastic?
Neither. It’s all green bags here.
46. Santa Clause or Easter Bunny?
The Hubby would vote for the Easter Bunny. Yes this is really and truly the Hubby. He is not a crook; he is all about peace, love and bunnies.
47. Lucky Charms or Trix?
These alluring cereals with the fun funky rabbit and the lucky little leprechaun are why kids are addicted to sugar. I used to dig the Charms though; they were magically delicious (see, I’ve been brain washed).
48. Mayo or Miracle Whip?
I don’t use condiments often, but if I was making some type of dip, it would be regular mayo.
49. Pickles or Olives?
Olives; love me some olives mixed with tomatoes, onions, garlic and pretty much anything else… Bruschetta or Tapenade, yes please.
50. Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew?
Neither one, even in my soda days. They’re like the Jagermeister of pop. It may taste good going down, but you’ll feel like shit the next day.
Now wasn’t that fun and educational.
I want to know. What would you pick for any of them? Would you get with this? Or would you get with that?
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
This is a good one – lots of fun questions. I love your response to the jock vs. nerd question. Way to be Switzerland. 🙂

I like this survey! I’m surprised it even asks about MySpace though….does anyone still use that?? Liked reading all yoru answers. And I’m 100% morning too

I know My Space, who does that?! The morning is where it’s at!
