Another seven days have gone by, which means time for our weekly edition of What I Ate Wednesday (or really whatever day I choose to share). When you’re done here, make sure to head over to Peas and Crayons and give a big ol’ thank you to our lovely host, Jenn.
Contrary to my title, I’ve got nothing today; nada, zilch, zip, zero.
It’s not because I haven’t been eating. I’d be pretty hangry by now, if that were the case. Rather, my food has been uninspiring. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been good, and in some cases really delicious, but there’s been nothing I wanted to write about (well, except for one meal, but that’s going to be a whole ‘nother post).
I typically start photographing every single meal on the weekends until inspiration hits and I know I’ve got my WIAW gig. Then, I start writing it in my head days ahead of time, and I get to put the camera down. Yeah well, I’m still photographing every meal because I’ve got nothing. No words anyway; I do have a whole bunch of pictures though. Since my creative mojo has taken a temporary (I hope) leave of absence, I’m going to share a bundle of my eats from the past few days and hope it’s sufficient. Hence, my title: Everything But The Kitchen Sink. Grab your hats, hold on to your seats because here we go.
Breakfasts
Clockwise from Top Left: banana spinach and strawberry smoothie (yep, drinking my greens is my new normal); homemade peanut butter granola with mini chocolate chips; toasted Italian bread with strawberry jam; homemade plain granola with honey flavored Greek yogurt and fresh raspberries; a banana and Paw Paw smoothie (Paw Paw is the state fruit of Ohio); and freshly baked banana walnut muffins. Seeing it all together, it would appear I have a banana fetish, and I’m not really surprised. I like phallic things.
Lunches
Clockwise from Top Left: Nature’s Bin pumpkin ravioli with black beans, squash and Ancho chili; Chipolte Bowl with brown rice, black beans, veggies, tomatoes and cheese; Nature’s Bin sweet potato gnocchi with roasted squash and apples; and Au Bon Pain’s scrambled eggs topped with black beans, roasted peppers and cheese from the salad bar, alongside rosemary roasted potatoes.
What I learned here is I don’t really make my own lunches, and of course you know I adore Nature’s Bin (my grocery store): sweet potato gnocchi, pumpkin ravioli. Talk about impressive. Why would I make my own lunches when I can eat this stuff, which is prepared fresh daily, using real whole ingredients? Plus making every meal of every day is hard, so when help comes in the form of these little lunches, count me in.
Snackage
Clockwise from Top Left: Nature’s Bin honey roasted peanuts; an apple and a kiwi, Pumpkin Cranberry Crunch; and an apple, a banana, and a kiwi.
It’s official; apparently, I’m obsessed with bananas and Nature’s Bin.
Aqua
Lemon and Lime Infused Water in my new favorite container: the Citrus Zinger, which is quite possibly the greatest invention of our time. More to come later on this baby.
Dinners
Clockwise from Top: grilled cheese; pasta with tomatoes, feta, Kalmata olives, and garlic; garlic smothered asparagus; broccoli cheddar Quiche; and butternut squash ravioli accompanied by a spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese.
All in all, I have to say I’ve been eating really well; it’s a pity I can’t seem to write about it. I suspect work (i.e. the job that pays for my ridiculous grocery bills) is the culprit. It has been insanely busy, and by the time I get home at night, my brain is fried. Like this is your brain on drugs fried. It might also explain why my favorite meal from the past few days was also the easiest to prepare.
What’s your favorite go to meal when you’re busy? Do you notice a trend in your meals? Are you obsessed with bananas too?
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Everything looks delicious to me! I have the problemthat I eat so many of the same things over and over. It looks like I’m just copying and posting everyting. Crazy! The citrus zinger looks interesting! Thanks for the info!

I am in love with the Citrus Zinger and have been toting it with me EVERYWHERE I go. It will be getting it’s own post soon, including where to buy them and discount info for ordering!!! I just bought four, and I feel like I need to buy forty more for all my friends and pretty much everyone I know. It’s that good!
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
I’m still inspired by this eclectic mix of foods. I don’t do enough with granola, and I’ve got a hankering for grape nuts w/ kefir. So that’s on my Trader Joes shopping list.
I was expecting a banana, not the apple, between the kiwi halves, based on your comment about what you like 😉
Looking forward to hearing about the stuff you’re gonna post about.
Meghan says
I know it was great food, but I just couldn’t get my brain in gear. I thought it would be too obvious to stick the banana in between…I might get in trouble for fruit porn….now there’s a topic I could sink my teeth into.
You should make grapenut granola. I bet it would be great.
Eating 4 Balance says
I always have to choose meals from different days to spice things up a bit. I usually eat the same things all the time, and maybe only change one meal a day or so. I think all of your food looks great though! Especially those banana muffins for breakfast. I love bananas too 🙂 And I think this is an awesome idea of posting a whole bunch of your meals together. It really allows you to reflect on your food choices!
Meghan says
Yeah I was kind of shocked by what I discovered….my apparent obsession with bananas. Hmmm.
The banana nut muffin recipe is posted on my site, but you’d have to do some subbing to make it work for you.
Shannon - Healthiful Balance says
I need a citrus zinger! 😀 Thats one cool invention!
Meghan says
I know. I pretty much want to buy one for everyone I know!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I don’t know what I want more… the ravioli or that food-porn grilled cheese. 🙂
Italian foods are my fast meals. Or roasted veggies. Both of which made an appearance yesterday. Not sure if it was the fast appeal, or the fast that those are also my go-tos when its cold.
Meghan says
Cheese porn at it’s finest!!
A big bowl of pasta is usually my second favorite quick meal. Roasted veggies is a great too; easy, hearty, filling especially in the cold weather. It snowed here yesterday (flurries), and I’m now officially freezing for the next five months. 🙂
Jessie says
… it’s official, my stomach has started growling after seeing all of these delicious looking dishes! I mean um, please come be my cook for the day.. or the week 🙂
Meghan says
No problem; I’d be happy to feed you. In fact, I love feeding people (it’s my thing). If only Kuwait were closer….but should you ever make it to Cleveland, you can count on it.
Luv What You Do says

Stacey Belasic says
Will you please be my personal chef? WHERE do you find the time to make all these delicious meals?!! I’m drooling over all the food porn right now….
Meghan says
LOL. Mostly weekends and evenings. I spend a good couple hours in the kitchen on the weekends getting all my snacks and prep work done. The Hubby helps too; it’s nice to have a sous chef.
Britt @ A Life Worth Living says
Yum! Everything looks really delicious! I’ve got a hankering for a grilled cheese now. And that water bottle looks awesome! I may have to get one for myself!
Meghan says

OMG I love that water bottle! Your eats look so good! I’d say a food I’m addicted to would be nut butter. Almond, peanut, pecan, you name it I love it! I do love the banana nut butter combo quite a bit so I’ll join you on the banana obsession!
