Happy Monday my lovelies. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was beautiful here in Cleveland, even getting up to sixty-five degrees on Sunday. I saw the sun, a lot of it in fact, and it was magnificent.
You know what Monday means. Time for a brand new start to the week, a fresh beginning, if you will. It also means time for another Week In Review post, where I get to list out all the things, major and minor, I accomplished in the last seven days. If you haven’t already, you need to start doing this. It’s a huge pat on the back, which we all need from time to time. Well except maybe me, because I pat myself on the back more than most, which also might explain my cockiness (you underestimate my cockiness. Forget about sneakiness; that’s so yesterday).
The Week in Review also means I get to write in list form, which appeals to my self-diagnosed OCD, in a big way. I’m working on putting together a link up for these posts, so put on your thinking caps and get ready. One huge bonus about these little gems: you get to write them all week long. Plan ahead for the win.
Let’s get listing.
- I made some really good progress on my puzzle. You see all that black at the bottom. That’s not easy, and the entire top half is flowers of varying colors. Those won’t be easier either, but it’s also why I like this puzzle. Bring it on.
- I ate a lot of potatoes, and they were damn good. I’m thinking about doing the same thing this week too; I even stocked up on potatoes yesterday so I could be ready. I like to be prepared.
- I wrote and published four blog posts, no small feat, especially when you consider hours go into each one. Yes hours; I like to take my time and do it up right.
- I had date night with the Hubby, which included a hearty bowl of artichoke soup and a killer salad with half an avocado on top. Other things happened too, but we don’t need to go there (wink, wink).
- I did two fitness classes during the week: Spinning and Pilates. On Saturday, I went to the park and actually ran a mile, or very slowly jogged if you want to get all technical about it. I’m pumped about this because I’m not a runner, not even a little bit, but I need to train for the Tough Mudder, which translates to my feet hitting the pavement. Speaking of pavement pounding, I also went for an eight mile walk on Sunday because it was sunny and gorgeous here, and I wanted to spend every possible minute soaking up those glorious rays of vitamin D laced happiness. Sadly, I wore the wrong socks and sneaker combo and since I’m too tough to admit it, my ankles paid the price in the form of bloody blisters. Good times, and yes I’m an idiot because I was too embarrassed to tell my walking partner. I could feel this happening about three miles in, and I did nothing, but soldier on.
- I went out and celebrated a friend’s birthday on Saturday night. With the time change, it meant I was out until three in the morning, which is way, way past my bedtime, even for a weekend and translates to I need a nap in the worst way.
- I made a double batch of granola and a double batch of energy bars. I’m ready to get my healthy snack on this week.
- I vacuumed the entire first floor of our house, including the furniture but I pretty much do this every weekend. Three cats equals lots of fur and since I’m a self-professed clean freak, I can’t be having that.
- I drank crazy amounts of beet juice, and I liked it.
- I worked too many hours at my real job, but I’ve got an extra long weekend coming up, so I plan to recoup then.
Speaking of recouping, I’m going to take a bit of a bloggity (I’m sure this is a legit word; no need to check your sources on this one) break this week. I may pop in from time to time and even catch up on some of my blog reading, but I really plan to take it easy. Instead of coming home from the office and spending my evenings working on the next day’s post, I plan to spend my time puzzling. Not the meaning of life, but actually working on my puzzle. Instead of waking up at 5 a.m. to finalize and publish the current day’s blog post, I plan to sleep in and dream about sunshine, rainbows, and leprechauns. Instead of photographing my meals, I plan to eat them when they’re hot and ready. I’m taking a break, but I’ll be back soon for more hijinks and shenanigans because I’m a huge fan of both.
Also, somebody’s birthday, not naming any names (MINE, MINE, MINE) just so happens to coincide with a certain holiday on the horizon, so today is the start of someone’s birthday week, which helps justify why I’m going rogue, not that further justification was needed.
Here’s a little photographic evidence from last year’s soiree, and it’s worth mentioning this picture was taken before a single cocktail crossed my lips. What can I say? I have a little head and no that’s not the Hubby. His unveiling would be much more dramatic.
What things did you cross off your list last week? Tell me all about it. Are you down with the Week In Review link up? Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? If not, you absolutely should.

Enjoy your “bloggity” break! I’ll miss your posts but it’s so necessary every so often and it’s good that you noticed the need to step back a bit :)! I used to blog almost daily but found that it took the fun out of blogging- I became a bit too attached to my computer. I cut back to 3 times a week and that’s the perfect balance of computer & non-computer time.
That puzzle is seriously huge and i’m impressed at how much you’ve already completed- nice going!
Have a great Monday :)!

Thanks Khushboo. Breaks are so important, for me and my sanity, and as much as I like a little cray-cray, I enjoy sanity even more. It’s good to take the pressure off yourself every once in a while, even if you don’t actually go on a vacation. I am glad to hear you’ll miss my posts though.
Three times a week is a pretty good amount. I generally do four and feel like that’s the max I could do, but I also write far too much per post. At least according to my Blogging For Dummies book. Have a great week.
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
omg that is going to be the best birthday ever. Also your date night sounds fabulous. I’ve been so loaded down with homework that I’ve barely seen my bf, but we’re going on a date night this Wednesday thank god! haha
Meghan says
I love that they have a parade every year in my honor….. 😉
I hope you get through all that blasted homework soon. My Hubby is in school right now, and it seems that’s where all his time goes, so those date nights are hugely important. I bet Wednesday won’t come soon enough.

Enjoy your break! You need to take one more often–I don’t know how you keep up and do all you do–you are superwoman! Happy birthday week! Lovvvve birthday week!!!! 😉
Meghan says
Thanks Stacey. I plan to. It’s on Tuesday, and already I feel less stressed. Then again, I got a huge chuck of stuff accomplished at work yesterday.
Eating 4 Balance says
That’s so awesome that you were born on St. Patrick’s Day! Well, in case you don’t post then, I’ll say it now: Happy Birthday! 🙂 My birthday isn’t for 3 weeks, but I’m also born on a holiday, albeit one not quite so prestigious 😀 Haha.
Yeesh. The blisters and bleeding sound horrible. Scars of battle, no? 😉
Enjoy your week. Great recap!
Meghan says
Well it can’t be anything associated with Easter because that rotates every year. How about National Tartan Day? I have a friend/coworker who throws a party for it every year.
Scars of battle is right. Unfortunately, they are hampering my abilities this week, and I can just about kiss my hot heels goodbye. At least for the next few days.
Eating 4 Balance says
Ok. So I had to look up National Tartan Day just to see what it was! Lol. Nope, not that prestigious. April Fools Day 🙂
Meghan says
Of course, April Fool’s Day. I love it.

AHH BLOODY ANKLES!! YIKES! I am so jazzed about your mile run..that is awesome. Also you puzzle is looking good and for sure needs a week of love from you. Have a great upcoming birthday you boozy beauty! Take Max to the bar, he would love some cheesy fries.
Meghan says
I knew you would love my mile run. My knee started to lock up at the end (which is the reason I don’t run, although I’m hoping to work through it), but endurance wise, I was totally fine. I wasn’t winded, I was able to converse with the Hubby the whole time. Baby steps.
Max would love the food. I swear he will eat anything. He is shameless.
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli says
Good for you for taking a bloggity blog biffity birthday break! Good god, someone hand me a magic wand and a pumpkin! Lol And I’m seriously jealous for all the Vitamin D soaking you did….alas, I’ve been working on my Heather-sized indention on the couch cushions for the last three days! Boo!
I’d totally be down with joining in on your list-lovin’ ways mama! Ahhh, to calm the ragingOCD within is pure bliss!
Meghan says
I think my mood improved within five minutes of sitting in the sun. Can you drag yourself to a window and curl up in a sun patch. I’m sure your kitty will share. I think it’s time for you to get out of the house for a bit.
Glad to hear you are down with a Week In Review list. I like the idea of being able to do posts ahead of time so I can write, edit, write some more, insert some jokes, edit, but it’s rarely what happens. I usually end up typing it all up the night before and morning of so these posts are great getting things done ahead of schedule. Calming the raging OCD is just a huge bonus.
Allie says
You better be back soon! Okay, okay, take all the “real life” “important” “outside of the blog world” time you need, but know your avid fans (*ahem*–me!) will be missing your bloggiting. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, have a wild (but not too wild…well, go for too wild if you want it) day, and enjoy the EVEN MORE SUN we’re supposed to get this weekend!
Meghan says
You’ll miss me….tear, tear, I think I just welled up. I can’t wait for more sun and my birthday, of course. They have a parade every year in my honor (er…maybe it’s for St. Patrick’s Day, but whatever).
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Sunshine makes me high too!!!
Your poor feet… I can’t belive they bled so much!
Meghan says
Me neither. I knew bad things were happening to my feet, but I didn’t realize how bad. There’s blood all over the backs of my sneakers too.
rebecca @ blueberry smiles says
you had such a productive week!! enjoy your blog-cation!
Meghan says
Thanks; I’m definitely planning on it.
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
I’m glad you enjoyed the sunshine–I got to hang out in an ice rink in Grand Rapids, then drive 6 hrs home . . . good times.
At least the other half of the family was out enjoying sunshine and doing some yard work I’d requested (butterfly bush-whacking).
Enjoy your break. With my folks here, and sled hockey tournaments, I am glad I was advised from the get go to limit myself in blogging. And since the people I feed seem to want to eat every day, I can do a massive amount of cooking/photographing one day and live off of that for a while.
If I could remember what the heck I made and how I made it when it comes time to type it all up . . .
Meghan says
Alright so maybe you missed the sun (which is a huge bummer), but at least yard work got done at your house without you actually having to do it. That’s definitely a plus.
It’s amazing how house guests want to be fed all the time. You’d think they’d get hangry or something. Have a great visit with your family.
