If you came here today looking for something healthy, you probably want to run in the opposite direction. Fast.
I don’t advocate this kind of thing all of the time. Mostย days I’m I’ll all about veggies, which is why I’d say this is reserved for special occasions because sometimes, well…..
Sometimes this needs to happen.
In the interest of full disclosure, this went down one lovely evening last Fall with the Hubby. As irony would have it, the Hubby requested a boatload of veggies for dinner tonight. I think I’m rubbing off on the man; in more ways than just the one (wink, wink).
Have you ever eaten a full-out ice cream sundae for dinner? When was the last time? You can tell me; you’re in a safe zone here.
Allie says
Good god, that’s one beautiful sundae.
Meghan says
It was delicious. Every single ridiculously sugar filled bite.
Yamir says
I bet it was!! Definitely looks like it. I always dreamed as a kid for a world where we could eat that way every day And not get fat. I was willing to trade getting fat for a finger that would Grow if you overate. Crazy, but we can always dream. Jajajahaja
Meghan says
Now that’s some trade!!
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Literally food porn. I want that in my body. Now.
Meghan says
As it should be.
Sarah Pie says
I’d drooling… seriously I almost licked my phone, and now that I know what’s under that beautiful pile of whipped cream I’m tempted to go ahead and eat it!
I don’t usually do ice cream for dinner but there have been more than a few day when I’ve had fro-yo for brunch ๐
Meghan says
That beautiful pile of whipped cream might have been my favorite part. There’s nothing quite like the real deal.
Michelle @ Mind, Body and Goal says
LOL…
People ask if I ever “cheat” and if I eat clean all the time…
Yes, yes I do.
Why?
Every single thing in the sundae I am either allergic to or can’t digest/tolerate/stomach, etc.
LOL!
I am jealous of you and your beautiful sundae!
You’re the awesomest! (Yes, it’s a word!)
=)
Meghan says
Thanks love. I’m thrilled to see you here and commenting, even if it took the worlds dirtiest (oops) sundae to do it.
I actually would have taken more comfort in this bowl of deliciousness if the hot fudge was as homemade as the whipped cream.
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
My daughter and I ate cheesecake from the cheesecake factory for dinner last Saturday night. It was awesome.
Meghan says
Exactly. It happens and sometimes you need to go with it.
Samantha says
You go girl!!! I often in summer just need to have a lovely ill fat pint of ice cream with a side of frozen chocolate (try it some time- mars bars and bounties- are particularly good, I’m an assume so I don’t know if you have those though ;)) I eat healthy but I think true health and well being comes from balance! I am going to start reading our blog pretty lady xo
Meghan says
Frozen chocolate bars mixed with ice cream…now there’s a concept I can embrace. Especially in the summer time when ice cream is just do delicious. Speaking of summertime, you’re coming up on yours in Australia. Eat a big bowl of delicious seasonal fruit for me, will ya. I’m ok if you put it on top of a bowl of full fat ice cream too.
It’s all about balance, and it’s all about sustainable. To say I’m never going to eat ice cream again just isn’t realistic, although I certainly don’t have sundaes for dinner every week either.
I’m so glad to have a new reader and hope you stick around for a while and say hello every now and again. I love to hear from readers.
Samantha says
Gosh it’s early in Australia typos galore “full not ill” and “Aussie not assume” lol ๐
Olivia @ Liv Lives Life says
That sounds and looks like fun.
I’ve never eaten just ice cream for dinner before. I have, however, managed to make it the biggest aspect of a dinner before. ๐
Meghan says
I’d say that counts too.
Arman @ thebigmansworld says
I hope that wasn’t the childs portion ๐
I am sad to say I’ve never eaten a dessert like treat as dinner before. This must be rectified.
Meghan says
It was most definitely not the child’s portion, and it was delicious. Every single creamy, chocolately, and delicious bite. You should rectify this. Just don’t make it a weekly thing and you’ll be fine.
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
It’s been a good handful of years, but I’ve definitely gone the ice cream for dinner route before. Heck, subbing dinner for something more dessert-like was a pretty common occurrence in my late teens and early twenties — clearly, I was the epitome of health ๐ But you’re right… sometimes it just needs to happen.
Meghan says
Sometimes being the operative word. I don’t normally eat sundaes for dinner, but when I do, it makes me smile. The company was a huge part of that too. ๐
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
That sundae is beautiful. And that sort of thing absolutely needs to happen! I’m sure I’ve had days where dessert just acted as dinner ๐
Meghan says
It was equally delicious too. I don’t advocate dessert for dinner on the regular, but sometimes….well sometimes it does need to happen.
lindsey @ NW Backyard Veggies says
You’re gonna get more comments here about this scrumptrulescent sundae than any plate of hummus and vegetables.
Just saying.
We are all sugar-kids at heart.
And it’s good to see that we are united in our affinity for cold cream and sugar. And toffee. And chocolate. And whipped cream…
Dammit. Drooled on the damn keyboard….
Meghan says
Ooooh, now you got me thinking about hummus and veggies and dreaming of summer when both were prevalent. Wait, did you say something about a sundae?!
Davida @ The Healthy Maven says
Coldstone Birthday Cake remix…lunch last week. No regrets!
Meghan says
Ice cream cake for lunch….sign me up please.
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli says
Hahaha! What amuses me the most is to sit back and picture you taking all those pictures while the hubby waited patiently for the go ahead! I have to say that’s the most gorgeous sundae I’ve seen in a while and even though it would likely put me into a sugar coma (and of course the fetal position with all that lactose), I’d have to at least steal one (very large) bite (with extra almonds and fudge)! ๐
PS, I love you for posting this!
Meghan says
This was definitely a sugar coma sundae, and I loved every sweet bite. No surprise there.
Aw shucks.
