Blogging surveys are the shining stars which beckon when post ideas are nowhere in sight.
Since I expended all my resourcefulness in the kitchen this weekend by cooking up a freaking storm, I was happy to discover Ms. Broccoli tagged me in this fun little foursome of a Q&A session. It makes threesomes look mild. Alright, that was an exaggeration. I do that sometimes and call it my artistic license, not to be confused with creative liberties. I also toss around fancy words and phrases in the hopes it’ll distract you from my lack of a proper introduction. Let’s pretend it worked and get on with the fours.
Four names people call me, other than my real name:
- Meg.
- Vanilla Gorilla.
- Crazy Cat Lady, although I’m down to only two felines now, so I’m revoking this title.
- Naughty Little Minx, or so says the Hubby.
Four jobs I’ve had and when I had them:
- Sales Associate at a catalogue ordering store when I was in high school.
- Cashier at CVS during my freshman through junior year of college.
- Office Clerk in a dentist’s office my senior year of college.
- Payroll Administrator at a law firm, post schooling, although not my present day gig.
Four movies I’ve watched more than once (AND can quote):
- Usual Suspects: this is a classic and one of my favorite movies of all time.
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: I rewatch these every winter with the Hubby.
- The Thomas Crown Affair: the one with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. It’s sexy and sassy, just how I like it.
- The Sound of Music: belting out songs alongside Julie Andrews has become a Christmas tradition. I give myself bonus points when I get the lyrics right.
Four books I’d recommend:
- It by Stephen King.
- Welcome to the World, Baby Girl! by Fannie Flagg.
- In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
- The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
Four places I’ve lived: er, I’ve only ever lived in two places so I’m halving this question.
- Buffalo, New York.
- Cleveland, Ohio.
- Amsterdam: the Hubby and I stayed there for twenty four hours last year, and it wasn’t enough time, which means we’ll have to go back. It’s a rough life, I know.
- Croatia: one of my favorite places of all time. We stayed in a villa surrounded by rosemary hedges, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. It was a dream vacation.
- Greece: there’s a small chance I fled Athens with an outstanding and unpaid fine. Oops.
- New Orleans: I walked my ass off to win this trip, and it was worth every blister and breakdown, of which there were many. The blisters that is, there was only one mental lapse, which I chalk up to sheer exhaustion.
Four places I’d rather be right now: I’ve only got one answer here.
- Exactly where I am right now: in front of my fireplace surrounded by the Hubby and my felines, with Three Bean Vegetarian Chili cooking away in the Crockpot and the biscuits to end all biscuits in the oven.
Four things I don’t eat:
- Seafood. despite a fantastic nutritional profile, I’m not a fan of the taste or the smell.
- Meat, partially for textural reasons, although I miss bacon, badly.
- Soda pop, unless it’s made with real sugar and even then it’s rare.
- The big fast food chains: McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Ball, etc. I wouldn’t touch their non food with a ten foot pole. It would outlast the pole anyway.
Four of my favorite foods:
- Hooray Veggies!
- My adoration of cheese makes Homer Simpson’s love of donuts tame.
- Potatoes: all shapes, sizes and colors.
- Fruit, preferably in mass quantities.
Four TV shows that I watch:
- Game of Thrones.
- Top Chef.
- Gilmore Girls: I love me some Lorelei and Rory.
- The Housewives, sans Miami. This one is embarrassing to admit and yet I can’t seem to look away.
Four things I’m looking forward to this year:
- Having the Hubby home for an extended break at the end of December.
- Spending the holidays with family, including my nephew who spends most of his days halfway across the world in Brussels, trying to consume gigantic sandwiches. Despite the distance, we have a lot in common.
- Things settling down at work, if only so I can stop going into the office on weekends.
- My Squash Roasting Party: it’s bound to be a blast. I know how to rage.
Four things I’m always saying:
- Hi Sunshine. This is my standard greeting in almost every scenario.
- Me-Yow!
- ♫♫♫♫♫♫♫ I love to sing, despite a horrific lack of ability to do so.
- We should make a list.
Four people I’m tagging for this survey:
Threesomes are so overrated. Get your fours on, ladies.
Your turn: Answer any of the questions above: four foods you won’t eat, four jobs you’ve had, four places you’ve lived or four places you’ve been.

I love Gilmore Girls! I used to watch it every week when it was still new (when was that, like 2000 or so?) Yikes. Still love it though. I wish they replayed it more often as well as Felicity and Party of Five. I recall those shows at the same time.

Yes!! I remember Party of Five too. How about My So Called Life? That was a great show, although I don’t think it was on as long.
You can watch all the old Gilmore Girl episodes on Lifetime or the O network, or one of those. Search in your guide and I bet you find it.

You worked in a dental office!? Way cool man, way cool. I have had four jobs total (well aside from smaller side jobs..we won’t talk about those. Kidding) Daycare center (so weird cause I hate kids), smoothie shop, Trader Joe’s and good ol STARBUCKS! I also have been a “caregiver” since I was 18 and get paid to provide “care” to my sister, however I’m technically qualified to help others too..but I DON’T WANNA!

I don’t blame you. Caring for a family member, while incredibly rewarding, can also be sooo difficult. My older brother used to take care of my grandfather when he had dementia. Not easy stuff.
I thought you’d get a kick out of the dental office bit.

Not fair! You went to Greece and New Orleans and didn’t take me?! Those two places have been on my travel bucket list for a couple of years now, and I’m determined to make it out to both soon. And I kind of love that you rewatch the LOTR trilogy every year. There was a time where I had Fellowship of The Ring on as background noise every.single.day, so I can basically quote the entire movie. It’s been a while since I’ve watched those, though, so I’m thinking I have to make that happen soon.

Just come to Cleveland sometime this winter and we’ll all watch them together. We’ve added The Hobbit movies onto the list now. It keeps getting longer and longer. 🙂

Add Singing In The Rain and Love, Actually to your Christmas Annual Movie list. You will not have regrets, and you will sing along.

I’ve seen Love Actually. It was a great flick.
By the way, the Hubby is now scared of me since I recommended In Cold Blood as reading material.

I love Croatia!! My friend and I went backpacking there and it was just beaut! We went for midnight swims on the way back from nights out I remember, probably not the best idea but it was super fun 🙂
Both my lunches this weekend were planned around cheese (brie and halloumi) – super rare for me – thought of you!!

Croatia really is incredible. We stayed in Trogir, although I would have loved to backpack across the country. Midnight swims barely remembered would be fun too.

I want to go to Croatia and Greece. We should talk. How did you get a fine?!

There was an incident on the subway. That’s all I’m saying about that.
I would travel all over Europe with you, but I need to wait two years until the Hubby is done with school. Then it’s on like donkey kong.

This was a fun post!!!
I will NOT eat fish. Will. Not.
So gross. The way it looks, smells, tastes…I just can’t.
Not even sushi. Makes me feel queasy.
Those biscuits in your oven…..I want summa those.

You do want some of these biscuits. I was trying them out for a friend, and they were incredible. I could eat them for dinner every single day and be happy. Speaking of which…. 🙂

We’ve done a LOTR marathon for the past 2 years now, we we’re just talking this weekend about adding in the Hobbit movies this year although when you start doing the math it ends up being an almost 2 day affair… oh darn 😉
Thanks for the tag lovely I was actually just browsing for post ideas and now I don’t have to!!

We don’t do it all one weekend. Too many hours in front of television would make my brain rot, no matter how good the movie. We usually do one movie per weekend until we’re done with them all. I look forward to it every year. 🙂

Thanks for the tag, Meg <3! I'm so jealous you've been to Croatia- it's on my list of places that I want to visit…right alongside Australia, Japan & South Africa! So considering Sound of Music is a movie you've seen multiple times, surely you won't mind watching it once more with me? Don't judge but I've actually watched the movie! My only viewing of it was in the theatre…clearly I'm missing something ha!

It was more of a Christmas tradition to watch The Sound of Music, so now it’s ingrained in me. Every year, I put it on while I work my Christmas cards, maybe do a little present wrapping or baking. It wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t, and you are always welcome to join me.

Okay I am so freaking jealous of your reading nook. I mean, really jealous.
You’ve inspired me to start watching game of thrones. I hear it’s crazy violent, but I need something to fix on since I’m without a real housewives show to waste myself with.
BTW, I can’t do maimi housewives either. there’s a character on that show who’s face looks like it’s been wrapped in saran wrap and it scares me.
Meghan says
Well Beverly Hills started this week, although I do recommend Game of Thrones. It is crazy violent, but it’s an interest watch which keeps you on the edge of your seat pretty much the whole time.
A face wrapped in saran wrap….oh man, that’s bad. I guess there’s something to be said for aging gracefully, not that I’d know that.

I want my next trip to be to Croatia, Greece and Turkey. Everything about those places appeals to me- the landscape, the history, and of course, the food.
Let’s see, four jobs I’ve had…
1) ER Patient Registrar aka annoying person who asks for your insurance info while you’re incredibly sick/in extreme pain
2) DJ/Programming Director at my college radio station
3) Warm weather child wrangler aka camp counselor
4) ESL Teacher
Meghan says
I would love to see Turkey too.
I think I knew the DJ bit, and yet I still find it super cool. What an awesome gig.
