Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
I hope you aren’t sick of all things baby because having a newborn at home is pretty much dominating my life right now, so if babies aren’t your thing, feel free to come back another day. I promise to blog about something else… one day… some day… soon… ish.
(♫ I’m too sexy for my Boppy, too sexy for my Boppy. So sexy it hurts. ♫)
Let’s get listing:
On Monday, I cried huge, messy, snot filled, alligator tears when Ave was awake for nine straight hours. I only mention it because it was the bulk of my day.
(She may look like the Hubby, but her mannerisms are all me.)
The rest of the week went much better though, mainly because the cavalry arrived in the form of my in-laws and my mother. They brought food. Food is amazing, especially for a breastfeeding mama.
(Kale Salad with Roasted Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Turnips, Gorgonzola Cheese and Walnuts with a Pesto Grilled Cheese from The Root Café)
I took Ave to not one, but two doctor’s appointments, where she was given a clean bill of health.
I had my six week check up with my OBGYN, and much to my dismay, she went in, and yes, I mean it like that.
Ave and I went for a long two mile walk on Friday afternoon. She was wide awake and checking things out the entire time. I on the other hand was soaking up the vitamin D and praying she didn’t lose her shit. I’m happy to report it was a successful outing.
We also dabbled in a little baby wearing. I even managed to do some vacuuming on Friday morning with Ave strapped to my chest. #skillz
(My glorious I just rolled out of bed look, except I didn’t just roll out of bed. It’s pretty much how I look all day long.)
We hit up the weekly lactation support group meeting. These are everything right now.
I got the courage to put Ave in onesies again, thanks to some dressing advice from a reader (You rock Grandma Lala).
(Ave practicing her Warrior Two pose)
In non-baby news, I paid bills, balanced our checkbooks, watered my indoor plants and managed a quick trip to Target.
I also cut flowers from our yard and even mowed the front lawn. Granted the backyard looks like the wild man of Borneo, but our curb appeal is on point.
I did some blog reading, and last but certainly not least, I caught up with some of my fabulous coworkers. It was great to converse with other adult humans again.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
thanks for the link up! i can’t believe it’s been 6 weeks already – you are doing so well! and my 6 week dr apt? i asked the dr to first look and tell me everything appeared normal before going in lol. i know you can understand after just going through childbirth. ha

I can totally appreciate that. The first question the Hubby asked me when I got home was did we get the all clear to engage in monkey loving again and my response was, “Oh I didn’t even ask.” I know you can understand that. 🙂

Wow you make it look easy! She’s so cute, can’t wait until I get mine….. What kind of wrap is that?
Andrea @ pencils and pancakes recently posted…Pregnancy Update: 31 Weeks
Meghan says
Oh no, I must be giving the wrong impression then. It has not been easy. In fact, this whole motherhood business is kicking my non-ass ass. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, hands down. It’s also getting better slowly but surely, and I have to thank my support system for that. They are everything right now, so lean on your people when the time comes. You can also vent to me as someone who’s still going through it.
The wrap is a Moby and I really like it, once I figured out how to use it of course, which is par for the course for all things baby.

Cora says
I’ve always thought those baby body wrap things are beautiful. And they kind of look comfy, no? I’ve thought about bringing them into style as maybe a frontal backpack of sorts.
Ave and her poses. Why do I get the feeling you are raising a self professed little diva ;).
So glad you go out for a nice long walk, to your weekly meeting, and had a catch up with the co workers. You must slowly be feeling your human side get a little bit stronger

Meghan says
God help me, I’m trying to prevent the diva gene from surfacing, although she does have tendencies. Eep.
Some days my human side is a little stronger than others, although I appreciate those moments regardless of when or how they come. Mowing the lawn might have actually been my favorite activity last week. It was so nice to do something physical, soak up some sun, listen to some music all while digging in the dirt. Yard work makes me happy. 🙂
The body wrap is remarkable comfortable and definitely Ave approved.

Ellie says
Hahaha “she went in, yes in that way” I’m so sorry you had to endure that. I’ve actually never been to the OBGYN. I always forget about doctors appointments, that’s the next step in my #adulting adventure. Three things I did this week, got a new cat feeder, acquired a new sponsor and made banana ice cream for dinner. It hit the spot!
Have a great week Meg!

What? You need to get to an OBGYN stat. That should be a routine annual visit for you. Prevention is the best medicine. 🙂
I hope the kitty likes the new feeder.

I know I keep saying this but Ave is SOOOOOO CUUUUUTE. And you look like such an earth mama wearing her in that green wrap. I wish I had one of those when Callum was little! I had one with Katie and it was the only thing that settled her down. I love seeing your WIR *because* it’s baby-centred. LOVE IT. You’re amazing for getting these done! I will try to get one out later today.

I’m glad you’re loving the baby posts and I can’t wait to see your post…in fact, I have a whole bunch of your posts I need to read. I’ve been missing you and your blog.

Hooray for 6 weeks! My husband was waiting anxiously for that appointment. 😉
Babywearing can be such a lifesaver! I wish I had started right away with my son – it would have made things so much easier.
Also… love the lilacs. I can’t wait until ours get really big and we can open the windows and smell them.

And while I know it may not necessarily feel this way right now, I’m gonna go ahead and tell you that you’re doing freaking awesome with this whole momma business stuff. I’m not a mom yet, but hope to be one day, so I love reading other bloggers ‘mommy’ posts. They help me mental prepare, lol. And so nice of your in laws to bring food, I’m sure it’s hard to find time to cook these days. I don’t know why it took me so long to discover roasted sweet potatoes on a kale salad are like one of the BEST combos! Have a great week!

Um so now I NEED to know this dressing advice?!?!?! Especially if you got Ave into a onesie without tears? And out again?
I wish people brought me food, haha! But that NEVER happens because no one wants to feed the coeliac allergic to everything gal. We aren’t even planning on having a baby anytime soon but people at our church are already talking about how they’ll need to bring us groceries rather than meals because Jesse will be the only one doing the eating.

Glad to hear you and the bubba got a clean bill of health – even if it did require a bit of… ‘Exploration’ 😉
The flowers from your backyard are beautiful. I really thought that winter here would be similar to winter at home, everything would die off. But the gardens here are beautiful. Ave and the pink monkey <3
I once went for a walk with my little nephew strapped to my chest and a couple of minutes in he was losing his shit. It was like the fire brigade coming. This was the first 20 min of a 3 hour babysitting job 😛 Babies are challenging.
Glad to hear you're both well. The little cartoon cracked me up 🙂 Men have it so easy!

Ave had that modeling thing down right from the first pictures you posted of her – hide those high heels in time ;)! Also, those six weeks flew by, no? Okay, I guess for you as the mum they did NOT fly by but were a slow learning process. Which I’d say you’re acing at. Looking at my sister I assume the full version of the story behind the pictures and words is rough at times. But I’m really happy to see you got to sneak in some me time and adult time.
Kudos on putting Ave in onesies. When they were vsiting recently my sister asked me to put the lttle one’s tights back on but I gave up rather quickly. He looked so fragile and, okay, I didn’t want to accidentially hurt him and be the worst aunt ever.

Hurray for Ave’s clean bill of health!
“and much to my dismay, she went in, and yes, I mean it like that.” <– Ugh, the worst! I always treat myself to something after THAT kind of appointment with my doctor. The promise of some kind of sugary treat immediately afterwards is pretty much the only reason I can bear through it. 😛

Little Ave (adore the name, first and middle!) is so cute! Looking more like her daddy..that is probably momentary. My children and grandchildren too, seemed as infants and on into pre-teen, seemed to morph back and forth, completely sharing and ego boosting. (maybe in your case monkey chest thumping!)) Our oldest son showed some promise of looking just like me in the end, but he did a complete turnabout and went back in history, looking like his handsome uncle! He won, sort of.. ( like horse races at our house seeing who’d pull ahead, and win that particular child, him or I) I got the other three, go Red and freckles!
Meghan says
Yeah, she looks just like the Hubby now but she does have the dimple in my ass ( 🙂 ) and my long thin fingers. It could all change though, well except maybe that dimple. I don’t think it’s going anywhere.
