Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I ruined my picture perfect Instagram feed. Truth be told, Ave is the one who besmirched it with her Monday morning mischief. Confession: I’m not a big fan of picture perfect anything. I prefer a dose of reality in my social media shenanigans.
(That is exactly what you think it is.)
I’m pretty sure Ave’s tomfoolery was payback for her four month checkup later that same day. She got a whole bunch of shots, shots, shots and was none too pleased. I told her when she’s of age, shots will become significantly more fun, although the hangover is about the same.
I housed and harbored my family on Wednesday so we could celebrate my older brother’s 40th birthday, and by older I mean decades of difference (cough, lies and deceit, cough).
We had lots of laughs, an ambush or two and a Taco Salad party. My mother’s gone vegan, so it was a good thing I had some recipes in my arsenal and a cabbage or two in my fridge. CSA produce to the rescue.
I thought about making my brother’s favorite dessert, lemon meringue pie, and opted to take him out for gelato instead. Not surprisingly, he had no complaints.
I watched all the gymnastics and then some. I puffy heart the Olympics.
I did lots of laundry, including all of our bedding. Clean sheets equals sweet, sweet bliss or at least a milk stain free night.
I went on a behind the scenes tour of Nature’s Bin. It was awesome.
I visited with an old coworker. It was so nice to catch up, and she was delighted to meet the baby.
Speaking of, we busted out Ave’s high chair for the first time. She alternated between blowing bubbles and studying us introspectively while we ate pizza. We also did lots of tummy time and play mat action.
I participated in the Love Your Spouse challenge on Facebook, which means I had to come up with witty commentary and funny pictures on a daily basis. For a non-romantic, this was no easy feat, and I might have missed a day in there. Oops.
Last but not least, I made and froze another round of green onion cheese puffs, mostly for this lovely lady, and I whipped up a batch of ratatouille for dinner on Saturday.
I stuck the tiny amount we had leftover in a small casserole dish and smothered it with cheese, which I fully intend to bake later this week. I’m getting excited just thinking about it.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
aw I love that the high chair is out! It’s another place to safely place the baby when you need to put her down lol.

The high chair and the pack and play are my savior these days. 🙂 She also seems to like the high chair so that helps a ton.

Gelato, pizza, and taco salads? The 3 other love languages. I think I say this every time I comment, but Ave is so stinkin’ cute!

This post successfully confirmed that I could not go vegan. Tacos… and even the thought of that ratatouille cheese thing… May your mother have more will power than I!
Ooo behind the scene tour of Natures Bin eh? You must have been dancing through those isles. I hope you got some freebies!
I also chose the “go out for ice cream” route rather than anything homemade this week. I think its better for all involved.
Meghan says
I could never go vegan either. I’m not willing to give up cheese or eggs.
The go out for ice cream route was nice and easy and about what I can manage these days. It works.

The taco bowl looks amazing. That recipe will definitely be dinner one night this week. The feeling of clean sheets is wonderful! I don’t know what it is, but I feel extra snuggly and cozy when I have freshly washed sheets at night.

Clean sheets are magical.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of the taco salad. It’s a great way to use up cabbage.

Sometimes my favorite part of the day is when she sleeps. One so I can rest, two so she can rest and be happy and three so I can stare at those little hands and feet. 🙂

Aw the I Love My Spouse challenge sounds so fun. I should get my parents into that. This past week I wrote the first email for me email list. A monthly email seems like something I can manage, so I’m excited about it!

Yum, that taco salad looks declines! Taco bowls is one of my favorite meals. And my week basically involved watching the Olympics constantly. Although I felt pretty lazy yesterday morning when the marathon was on and these girls were running a 5 something minute mile and was sitting lounging around for hours, lol.

Haha! Ave looks, sitting in her new throne, at the deception that’s been going on out of her range of vision for all of these 4 months! Oh the injustice!
I had one little guy that specialized in ‘mud-back’ it felt planned! Because it suspiciously seemed to happen every time we were at the grocery. This was when I figured out the magic of the lapped shoulder, only he wore those old fashioned long nighties with drawstrings at the bottom. I doubt they are made now! Kids do keep it real, and fun too!
While I admired our mom going vegans, I am too just too lazy and far selfish! Loving my butter, over my heart health, even! (organic mostly, grass fed always)
Meghan says
I could never give up my butter or cheese either. I love my dairy.
I had to change my shirt this morning because I had baby poop on it. 🙂

Great pictures of you and your husband. Love them. Ave has such a killer smile!!! I can’t count how many times I wash our bed sheets per week now that we’ve had Callum. We use our bed as his change table, and he pretty much sleeps with us in there too. SIGH

My girl Lucie, from Fit Swiss Chick, took those pictures of us last year in San Diego. She’s a fantastic photographer.
I’m so glad Ave sleeps in her crib at night. We put her there on day one and have stuck with it, mainly because Oscar would get jealous. Ha!! 🙂

Yum! Ratatouille is one of my favorite summer dinners. And happy birthday to your brother. My brother’s gonna be 30 in a year and a half, and that definitely weirds me out, so I empathize. How is he enjoying being an uncle?

Oooh I do love a good ratatouille! I haven’t made one in ages actually… I love cooking it on the stove and breaking eggs into them, shakshuka style!
Currently watching the gymnastics right now… After a morning of watching the Athletics… Damn I am getting nothing done right now!

Gelatooooooooo. Fun fact: we honeymooned in Paris/Nice and I literally ate gelato every single day (along w/macaroons) and oh my, I would move to Europe for that stuff. Not even joking.
I love how mischievous Ave looks in the last pic….. such a contrast from her first pic in this post, with the back explosion. It is like she knows what she is capable of doing and isn’t afraid to remind you. That poor onesie.
Meghan says
That poor onesie is right. Try as I might, I did not get that particular stain out. They need to make teplon clothes for babies.

Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
Oh! I forgot to tell you, I -did- actually ask my mom about the explosive poops, and she said she can’t remember me doing anything like that. Granted that was all of 31 years ago so she may have blocked it out of her memory, but I call shenanigans on Ave’s part. And you know I’m actually kind of sad about missing the Olympics because of Vegas? I mean, I got to catch bits and pieces of it, but for the most part I’m kind of in the dark about what’s going on…
