Week in Review: The Ave Takeover Edition (#52)

October 10, 2016 by Meghan 30 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

Week In Review Button Final

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

I figured it was high time I took over the blog again because we all know I wear the pants around here, quite literally sometimes. Sure, sure I let mom think she’s running the show, but at the end of the day we all know who’s in charge, and it ain’t Oscar.

Speaking of my good buddy, I learned some new words when mom stepped in a pile of steaming, wet, cat poop while carrying me down the stairs. She wasn’t too thrilled about it, although truth be told, I found it highly entertaining.

I embraced the Fall season and got my hands on a gourd, which I shall now call “my precious.”

(I told mom to take it easy on the gourd pictures. Clearly she didn’t listen.)

After a couple of days of pure bitchery (one of the new words I learned from mom), I dropped a nap and then picked it back up again just to throw my parents off. As of today though, I’m averaging three naps a day ranging from thirty minutes to an hour per siesta session.

In more exciting news, I discovered my feet and put them in the most appropriate place I could find, namely my mouth.

ave-eating-her-feet-october-2016

As a result of my newfound talents, I embraced yoga with open arms, working almost exclusively on my happy baby pose. I’m a natural.

Also, I learned how to sleep on my belly, and I read a holy crapton of books.

ave-reading-books-october-2016

Cats are my favorite because Oscar is my boy. Samantha on the other hand doesn’t really like to play with me, although dad says I shouldn’t worry about it; she doesn’t like anyone outside of mom.

I dabbled in some rice cereal mixed with breast milk.  It was, shall we say, interesting. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate, and I wore about half of it.

aves-first-food-rice-cereal-october-2016

Rice cereal today, sweet potatoes tomorrow….or in a couple of weeks. I think my milkmaid is holding out on me.

I managed to get up to some other shenanigans last week too. Mom and I went to the farmers market, her old office for a visit, Luke’s diner for some coffee (decaf for me), and I hit up my buddy’s barbershop simply to say hello.

Last but not least, I celebrated my six month birthday in style with these delicious bars. Mom says if I nap like a good baby, she’ll try to share the recipe this week. No promises, especially since I have my six month immunization shots today and not the fun, dance on the bar, kind.

aw, she is just so cute!! I love that she is at the 6 month mark, such a nice age, although, all of the ages are great (except newborn, newborn I could skip lol). I remember doing the oatmeal mixed with breast milk. my son loved mashed banana at that age and the sweet potatoes! she will love the sweet potatoes, I feel like all the babies enjoy the “sweet” foods. I cant wait to see if you can get her to eat the green beans. I don’t think my son ever ate them.

If she takes after her daddy, she’ll love the green beans. If she takes after me, well, she’ll tolerate them when they show up in the CSA. 🙂

She burst into giggles last night for minutes on end. It was the best thing ever.

Squuuueeeeeeee!!! What a precious my precious cutie bootie pie. I’m sorry I’m immersed in baby talk. Everything is gahhhgoo gahhhgahhh. I like it, no complaints.
Your week looks like it was simply divine. How lovely that she’s embracing books, she’s your mini!! The rice cereal powder is a trip. Clearly I’m a new mom since I thought my mom meant you stick steamed rice in her bottle when she explained to me how she’ll need rice with her milk soon. Oops oh well no harm done. I love taking the tiny human on outings. Going to Whole Foods and having my coffee with her is our thing now. Sometimes I get a half pint and she gets to look at the birds outside.

Also I need to send you a video of baby giggles. You’re gonna love it.

You got my wanting to out my feet in my mouth Ave, and that just isn’t possible for a 5’8 girl like me 🙂 This past week I finish the first test for my online classes. To say it’s a load off my shoulders is an understatement. Enjoy those bars, the probably taste better than the gourd.

Can’t believe she’s already 6 months old! It just gets more fun, especially when she’s starts sitting up on her own and crawling. 😉 So jealous you got to go to Luke’s! I’m such a nerd and would have gone if the one near us had been closer… though I don’t think my boss would have understood me being late for work because of that. Ah well.

And what exactly is it? Is it just a one time deal for an hour? Or is it going to be a few shows? AHHHHH!

Ave–good job trying new foods, reading books, and wearing pants. Be sure not to poop on them; I would hate for you to ruin a good pair of pants like that. As for happy baby pose, it is a favorite of mine too. I’ll bet that gourd had a very interesting texture, and I don’t blame you for making it your precious. Or sticking it in your mouth. Of things you could be sticking in your mouth, a gourd is probably a good choice–they are vegetables, after all. Good luck on your immunization. Those kinda stink, but the alternative is a lot worse.

Hi Ave pleeeeease be a sweetheart and take a few good naps because your mom teases us with these bars for way too long already!

The picture with the gourd made me laugh. At the tender age of 6 month she’s already more into the whole pumpkin business than her mom 🙂 Also I would LOVE to go to Luke’s. I’d drink 3 cups of coffee and talk as fast as I could.

That rice cereal is a good look 😉 And you (Meg) never told me that you were giving Ave solid foods! I mean, as if I know anything about that sort of thing, but seeing as I’ve been getting updates since her literal entrance into this world, I need to know these milestones 😛 And Ave, you need to sleep hun. Cranky = tired, and tired = sleep… not stay up fussing. I swear… I’ll never understand baby sleep logic.
