Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I took Ave to her 6 month checkup and according to her doctor, she’s growing like a weed. She also offered to take her home and keep her. It was tempting.
I went through Ave’s wardrobe, which is far more sizeable than mine, swapping out the stuff that’s too small or summery. Of course now we have a couple of 80 degree days (26 Celsius) in the forecast. “Figures,” she says while shaking her head.
We finally made it to Mommy and Me story time, where we read books, sang silly songs, and played musical instruments, also known as insert toy into mouth.
The Boss and I went for a bunch of walks. We’re getting to be regulars on the park circuit.
I read up on Baby Led Weaning, and we gave Ave her first avocado, which she promptly smeared everywhere. It was a rip-roaring success.
(“You want me to do what with this stuff?”)
(“It’s possible my first reaction was a little bit hasty.”)
I watched a couple of movies with the Hubby: Mad Max: Fury Road (godawful) and Wonder Boys (fantastic flick).
I did a lot of adulting, specifically I paid bills, figured out our health insurance, folded laundry and cleaned part of the house.
I responded to some older emails and caught up on my BlogLovin’ feed. It feels so good to get through that stuff.
I published three blogs, including a sappy sentimental post on Traditions and those glorious bars I was teasing you with for weeks. ♫ I’m naughty, and I know it. ♫ I even got the Magic Bars through FoodGawker’s super strict walls. Boom goes the dynamite.
I made and shot another recipe which I’m hoping to share this week, provided Ave’s nap are solid enough to let me work. That’s a dicey proposition these days; it could go either way.
I made Juli’s Tostada Ranchero Brunch Skillet for dinner one night, and it was amazing. I even poached eggs for the first time ever. It was way easier than I had anticipated; the poaching eggs bit that is, Juli’s recipes are always super simple, which is just one of the many reasons I adore them. Her use of cheese is another.
I made a giant batch of Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Granola. It took me all week to do it, and I still need to add some white chocolate chips, but damned if I’m not counting it as done.
Last but not least, I had a mimosa. Cue happy dance and squeals of delight!!
(Not this exact one per say, but you get the idea.)
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week, big or small?
Miss Polkadot says
Awwwr! You don’t by any chance think they have Ave’s outfit in the first picture in my size, no ;)? It looks so fluffy and hey, elephant pants! She’s sporting it very very well and by that I mean cute.
Hooray for baby led weaning! I hope both of you will enjoy it as much as my sister and P. Avocado is a clear favourite here, too. As were cucumbers in the beginning.
Speaking of movies: have you gotten around to watching ‘Concussion’ yet? Also: not much longer until we can finally indulge our Gilmore Girls obsession again!!
Insert toy into mouth – I wish a certain dad had known that counted as playing musical instruments because it might have spared me years of reluctantly playing the flute.

Oooh cucumbers….that’s a good one. I’ll add it to the list of food to try.
She actually has a matching elephant shirt but it’s too much altogether so I had to break it up with a fluffy vest. It’s from the Gap so it’s possible it comes in adult sizes too.

Khushboo says
The boss is looking mighty cute in her pink hoodie! Well done on starting with the weaning process- it’s fun to see how kids respond to certain foods and also how their opinions evolve over time. My nephew hated watermelon the first 2 times he tried it but now is a fan. On the contrary he used to love avocado but now won’t go near it! As for me, three successful things from last week involve setting up my new laptop and transferring all my data from my previous laptop; getting back into my culinary mode; Getting back into a workout regime- took some time off due to travel and attending a wedding.
Meghan says
Oh wow, you had an awesome week then. New laptop and great eating and working out…send me some of that mojo. 🙂

Patricia @Sweetandstrong says
OH that mimosa looks so refreshing. And I can’t believe we’ll be in the 80’s this week as long as it doesn’t suddenly drop below freezing, I’m fine with it. I need gradual temperature changes.

I’m having another mimosa right now. Woo Hoo!

Ave and the avocado! Her face is so ‘are you kidding me?’
Have I told you lately how much I love you? Seriously I squealed a little when you sent me that picture! It makes me happy when you like my recipes <3 Also your poached egg looked fabulous!
A big yay for movie nights and mimosas!

First tiny little note – thank you for including the celsius degree number. I never have any idea what you guys are referring to in Fahrenheit…
Now those avocado pictures of Ave. LOL. Oh man. Too much.
Big congrats on the gawker acceptance! Another Mimosa is needed!

I did the same thing yesterday, I got some new leggings and jackets for running, then it was 60 degrees the next morning so it was totally overkill. Oh well, I guess I’ll be ready for the winter…although if it’s doesn’t want to come, I’m ok with that 😉

It’s roasting hot right now, although I’m not complaining. We can hold off on this cold weather as long as possible.

Of course. We shared the avocado, well except for the pieces she smashed. 🙂
michele @ paleorunningmomma says
Isn’t poaching egg amazing? I’ve been lazy and frying mine but I was obsessed with poaching for a while and need to get back to it. Glad she’s growing well! And eating well too. I’d say the avocado was a success. My middle one Emily refused to even entertain the idea of solid food until 12 or 13 months – pure torture lol.

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
You always make me feel lazy. Although… I fed my sister, her boy toy, and Vegas avocado toast this weekend. They were pretty clean with it. We also drank mimosas. It was tasty… though not homemade. We went out for brunch because its the ONE thing Italian don’t know how to do, so we deemed it an appropriate “welcome back to ‘Merica” activity.
Ave, as always, is adorable. I love that sheep-looking outfit. Are you playing here lots of Springsteen music? Boss… meet Boss.

You sound so happy in this post! My kids still give me that look when I feed them avocado, and they’re a lot older than Ave. I love your red walls in the kitchen and the window coverings and art. You’ve got GREAT style!

The cool weather baby stuff is crazy cute! I’m trying not to go overboard in my shopping but it’s tough. I feel like she was just wearing her 3-6 months old stuff and now she’s too big 🙁 so I’ve had to set aside a ton of her clothes and reorganize everything with what actually fits. We need more onesies. Yup. She grew too fast. However I’m happy to say we have a plethora of pajamas. Yay I love pajama parties. I got her outfit fur Halloween and she’s going to be a strawberry. It’s soft and cute and not itchy. I’m totally obsessed with material and things being soft. It seems like everything is scratchy and has tags everywhere. Why??? Help me find baby clothes that are tagless ok?!
On a nice note we had lots of family outings and we are actually starting to feel like a solid unit. No longer panicking about her fussing in public, I just feel so much more comfortable and happy. No complaints life is good. Just a little pesky cold that I can’t figure out if she gave me or I gave her… I’ll say it was her since she’s napping

Meghan says
I think it’s totally fair to blame the germs of the baby; they’re harbingers of germs. They touch everything and then stick their hands in their mouths. Ave loves the tags; it gives her more things to stick in her mouth.
I can’t wait to see strawberry Lulu pictures. You better send me tons of them.

Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
I can’t believe Ave had her first avocado at such a tender age and I didn’t try it until I was something like… 24? 25? You should feed her pumpkin too and see how she likes that 😛
Last week I: deep cleaned my entire place, got a few killer workouts in, and made a very important planner decision 😉

I think the foodgawker acceptance calls for another mimosa 🙂
Also, do you think that snuggly, fluffy, vest Ave is rocking comes in adult sizes? Because I totally want one (although not today since it was almost 90 around here)!!

Ha! Isn’t that how it goes? Not just for babies, but for all of us. You put the summer stuff away and the weather promptly gets good again. 😛 Although I must say, Ave, you rock a fine sense of fashion.
Let me see…is that kale, hazelnuts, balsamic, blue cheese and…sweet potato? Butternut squash? Sounds sassy. I think I would be game.
