Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I suppose I should open with the big news first. Despite all proclamations and promises I wouldn’t do this, I went ahead and started a liquid cleanse.
Truth be told, I didn’t even finish a full bottle of wine last week, although I did purchase the ingredients for Moscow Mules so I can take my new Christmas glasses out for a spin.
And in truly big news, Ave has started a kind of crawling. It’s more like slinking, inch worming, or army pulling, where she drags her carcass across the carpet, mostly with her right appendages. Either way, the result is the same, this kid is on the move.
She’s also perfecting her princess wave, so it’s been quite an exciting week over here. New skills means nap time troubles (think 25 minutes or less). Thankfully, she’s still sleeping through the night. Quick, someone knock on wood.
The tiny human and I also started a new session of Baby and Me story time at the local library. It involves books, bubbles and the itsy bitsy spider so it’s a real party. Now if only they’d let me bring in my coffee. Silly no food or drinks in the library rule. Pfft.
(Yeah not really anymore, although I can pretend.)
Over the course of last week, we hit up Whole Foods, Breadsmith and Babies R Us, where I actually got to pick out some of Ave’s clothes for the very first time. Thus far, we’ve been fortunate with gifts and hand me downs.
Apart from the child, I went through some of the kitchen cabinets, cleaning and purging to my heart’s content. It gave me all the feels.
I worked out three times. Special shout on goes to my father-in-law who watched the baby so I could hop on the elliptical in our basement.
I also posted two blogs including this ridiculously easy and foolproof veggie bean soup. Seriously, half the ingredients in this bowl of beauty were supposed to be something else. Also I left it out on the stove overnight; twice.
I managed to do a little bit of cooking too. I whipped up some Cobb salads, made Broccoli Mac & Cheese, and potato soup, which Ave smashed.
Last but not least, I tested a new recipe with Brussels Sprouts.
Oh and as you can see, my cleanse involves bacon.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
Sara @ Oats & Rows says
That mug is seriously the greatest. I can’t wait for that brussel sprouts recipe. I’m intrigued by the blackberries!

I could get on board with a bacon cleanse. And 25 minute naps are death. Here’s to hoping there are a lot of them or they morph into one long marathon sleep.

She napped today! Twice for just over an hour each! I swear she senses when I’m nearing the end of my rope and then cuts me a little slack….just enough to start the cycle all over again. Ah the joys of parenting. 🙂

Sounds like one hell of a cleanse to me. I’ll help you with the bacon and brussel sprout part, and if you make my moscow mule for me I’ll give you some extra time on the elliptical while I watch Ave. I’d love to take her shopping. I’d much prefer picking out clothes for her than for myself.
Huge congrats to Ave for going all Revenant crawl style (Leo would be proud) and hugeeee congrats to you for the recipe making and cupboard cleaning!!! That made my organizational heart skip a beat.

It’s a deal. Moscow Mules for you and more elliptical for me. Afterward I will of course join you and the baby for a drink.
I did another set of cabinets today. It feels amazing and we suddenly have space again!! Now to actually eat all the dried goods in the pantry (hello quinoa, lentils, beans, jasmine rice, etc.)

Patricia @Sweetandstrong says
Doesn’t cleaning out the cabinet make you feel so good! I just don’t understand how they get messy so quick! And OMG brussels, I love them, they’re my favorite lately. Can’t wait for this recipe.

Also, I’m really looking forward to trying that veggie bean soup.

Well Ladies, my accomplishment for the week was surviving five and a half hours at Chuck E. Cheese yesterday for a holiday bash featuring my husband, his ex-wife, their four children and their six grandchildren. Thus the Chuck E. Cheese venue. The decibel level was elevated when we arrived but it seemed to progress to a fever pitch as the day wore on. Or was it just my nerves?? No wonder they serve beer and wine! All was not lost however, I had my picture taken with Chuck E. Cheese himself.

Honestly you deserve a medal. If I ever make anyone go to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party, it will be too soon. Hopefully I never have to eat crow on this comment. 🙂

I’m drinking out of that exact same mug right this second! TWINNERS. It’s so exciting that Ave can move around now. I love newborns, and then I love the 6 months-12 months stage, then I could give them away from 12 months to 3 years old. I could do without the 8-12 age stage (repetitive boring stories, and they refuse showers), but get them back from 13-18. Ha ha ha!!! I hope everyone knows I’m kidding. I sound like a really great mother. When I first read that you were doing a cleanse, my heart kinda pounded. I felt betrayed, like all of a sudden you revealed a part of yourself that I didn’t know existed. My heart broke a little. And then I saw that it was alcohol and bacon, and I exhaled with relief. I need to go get some bacon today. And men’s socks and underwear.

You better stock up on some men’s socks and underwear. You never know when you’re gonna need a spare.
I think you’re a fantastic mother. You have so much love and empathy, it’s amazing.
I will never betray you with a juice cleanse. Promise.

Okay, you had me worried for a second there. I’m glad your cleanse involves alcohol and bacon.
I was on a cleanse last week, albeit involuntarily. I was sick with the worst stomach virus I’ve had in a long time, and so didn’t end up eating much more than miso soup and the occasional English muffin. Now I’m eating like a ravenous beast to make up for lost time 🙂
Meghan says
Oh no, being sick sucks balls. I’m sorry. I’m glad you’re on the mend and making up for lost time.

I will join you on a alcohol cleanse any day. In fact, with working on my performance nutrition last year I rarely drank alcohol…. Now, unlike most in January, I am back on the booze wagon and loving it. Ok that makes it sound like I’m going crazy but I have missed simply having a few wee tipples on the weekend!
I think I’m really lucky that our library allows us to eat and drink inside. I would cry if I couldn’t drink coffee while I was there! Seems odd they allow bubbles though – I love bubbles but surely they could make a wet mess…? I’m just coming to coffees defence here!
Your cupboard cleaning inspires me!

I got yelled at for my coffee…alright maybe not yelled at but I was asked to put it away. Next time, I’m coming back at them with the bubble defense. 🙂

Ah well, now the cleanse trend has gotten hold of you, too – I’d call not even finishing a bottle a stumbling start ;).
Woop woop to Miss Ave for starting to crawl. Movement is exciting. I still have a video of P. crawling backwards from when he started doing it :D.
Okay, if I ever get to visit you I’ll sub in for you at Baby and Me reading time. Books and bubbles are fun already but add itsy bitsy spider and it’s a sealed deal for me. I can’t help tell/play the itsy bitsy spider thing to every toddler.
On a final note: kudos on your major pantry purge. You put mine to shame.

Wowzers!! These moving babies are quite a thing of wonder. We have play pens and baby gates and pads everywhere, it’s definitely the house of Lulu. It’s amazing how they grow. Most of the garments I received as gifts never even made it to her tush since she kinda grew. Or sprouted like a bean. How do you like baby clothes shopping? It’s a love hate thing for me. I love it but picking out stuff without getting it all is a test of will and discipline. We still have too many clothes but luckily there are plenty of mommies that could use them.
I’m still recovering from the holidays and traveling and life. My brother left back to Aberdeen on Sunday and I was very emotional. What can I say, I miss having uncle Nicholas around. Thank goodness for Skype:)

I actually really liked the shopping although I can see the temptation to buy all the cute things. I kept it pretty minimal and hit up the clearance rank. I keep reminding myself she’ll only wear it a few times before she’s too big.
I understand. It’s nice having family around. It’s good just having another adult to keep you company; it helps keep me sane when my in-laws pop by.

I cleaned the whole kitchen pretty much a year ago and I know exactly how that feels. Incredibly satisfying and soothing. You make me want to do that again. Maybe I’ll do a bit of this on Saturday when Stefan has to work.
Well this is a liquid cleanse I am on board with. Despite the fact that January is my alcohol free month as usual (apart from some celebratory wine on Monday) I loved your planner and Moscow Mule time picture. I would have loved to join you!
I love the picture of Ave! And I love hearing her talk on Snapchat. I can’t believe she starts crawling already. Time flies!

Not even gonna try to hide it – seeing your kitchen purge gave me all the feels.
