Get you pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
The week started out in Buffalo, with an early morning breakfast with my older brother and mother. It was our parting meal since the tiny human and I hit the road for Cleveland a couple hours later.
On Tuesday, we tried to get back into our normal routine, which meant a visit to grandma and grandpa’s house, including dinner. Have I mentioned how much I love it when other people feed me? Hooray for pizza and salad.
Speaking of which, the Hubby and I had a date night. We were invited to Passport to Cleveland, which is a newer local foodie event, sponsored by my girl Lauren at CLEseats. It involved dueling pianos, boozy beverages and thirty different tasty bites from local restaurants. The short version was nothing short of a foodgasm.
(Lightly fried artichoke heart with spicy ranch)
(The pickled onions were EVERYTHING.)
Not to be outdone, Ave ate three fried eggs in one sitting for second breakfast. Her first breakfast was a cinnamon raisin bagel smeared with peanut butter. I’m pretty sure we’re both going through growth spurts.
We both indulged in some birthday celebrations on Saturday night. Ave went back for seconds on the ice cream, and I enjoyed a fine glass of bubbly.
Continuing the trend, on Sunday morning, we celebrated a boozy brunch with friends and their little people. It was wonderful to sit back and relax while someone else did the cooking, yet again. I have been so spoiled this past week.
For my part, I played around with some spring veggies. Say hello to my little and lithe friend, the asparagus. Expect a new and tasty recipe in the near future.
Last week wasn’t all about food though. I exercised five out of the seven days, including a super sweaty spin session and a very short run with the wee babe and the Hubby.
I busted out a second blog post: Things People Don’t Tell You About Having Kids because I like to keep it real “up in here, up in here.” ♫
Last but definitely not least, Ave and I went to her music class and story time. We also took our first trip to the Children’s Museum with her bestie. It was a rousing success even if it was a little overwhelming (for me, not her). She’s already asking to go back.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. Are you as tired reading this as I feel reliving it? Clevelanders, do you have the CLEseats app yet? It’s free, and it involves discounts at local restaurants, including my favorite: $10 margarita flights at El Carnicero.

We just did the Adventure Science Center here last weekend with the kids and it was amazing! It’s like the Children’s Museum but in space. I love all the good food and good exercise you got last week. I want somebody to cook for me…anybody.

Spoiled indeed, but always well deserved! This week freakin rocks. I love how much you savor good food and times with family/friends (in general, in life). Always a motivation for me. Passport to Cleveland must have been heaven.

what a FUN week!!! the pickled onions look amazing, every pickled onion i’ve tried, i’ve loved. we are fighting off germs and all of this funk due to the weather being 40 degrees one day, then 90 degrees the next day or later in the day, and non stop rain. it’s been a very sad time for fair weather people like myself. we did a lot of adulting and serious things like budgets. maybe it makes more sense to stay at home after all???? there are so many things to ponder over.
on the fun side, i started reading Big Little Lies and finished it in two days, all while my little was sleeping next to me. i feel like a rockstar.. a very boring rockstar that is pathetically underpaid, but whatever.
happy monday my friend, missing you both in CLE
Meghan says
You’ll have to plan another visit to C-town so we can catch up.
I feel ya on the weather though. We had 70 degrees one day (unheard of for us in February) followed by 25 the next. It was a bit of a shock to the system.
I think book reading sounds lovely. It’s one of my favorite activities in fact, even more so when it’s my book and not Ave’s.

I am not sure if it’s you keeping up with Ave, or it’s Ave keeping up with you! Either way, fun all around! I love several days of cooking freedom, but lately, our cooking has has been slow and easy.
I am all about runny, oozy, sunny side up lately! Over anything! With chipotle style Tobasco. I love them over refried pintos, and I love them over the vegetarian chili stew I threw together as I was cleaning out my pantry and fridge last week. I even had one over some rare (for me) ground chicken breast bbq meat loaf!
I’m into eggs because we found a new source of farm fresh organic! Just send a text and they will have them at at at the ready, end of their driveway, with our name on them honor system! They used to our neighbors and moved to a little farmette a year ago, totally trust the eggs!
Meghan says
It’s always good to have a great egg source. I buy local ones in the grocery store, although I look forward to CSA season when I can get them directly from the farmers (and their chickens specifically).
I like the way you eat. We are foodie soul sisters. Also, Ave’s favorite part of the fried egg is the runny yolk.

Food fests like that one are the best! I was just talking with some friends this weekend about all of our plans to hit up some food fests this summer. I hope that fried artichoke was as good as it looks!

The fried artichoke was spectacular as was the spicy ranch. It worked so well together. Food fests for the win.

Omigod the children’s museum. I love it and loved the idea of it for our daughter. We got a family pass for the past year here, so when she was from 1-2 years old. She *loved* it. I don’t know if she would have enjoyed going to a large open field just as much though because she mainly ran around the whole time we were there. So much running. We might opt for the open field this year instead.
Meghan says
An open field never hurts either and it might mean a little less running for us moms.

Oh wow, you’re killing it! Awesome that you got so much good food and especially awesome that you didn’t have to make most of it not by yourself 🙂
I also love that you got in so many workouts. That’s something I truly miss and I cannot wait for being pain-free again and starting to do that more regularly again myself!
I can see how this was an exhausting week but in the best way possible I guess 🙂

Meghan says
All the weeks are exhausting but that’s par for the parenting course. It’s easier to do all the things so Ave has a source of entertainment outside of me, even if it pushes my introverted boundaries.
It’s been really good for me mentally and physically to start working out again, and Ave knows when mommy is wet (sweat), she’s been exercising. Her seeing me doing and viewing it as a positive makes me almost as happy as the exercise.
