Week in Review: Zoos and Road Trips (#98)

September 4, 2017 by Meghan 34 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

The hubby and baby sat one of the tiny dictators friends. It was fun and fraught with snacks, Ave’s favorite.

We had dinner at my in-laws one night. We supplied the food, and they handed out the cocktails. I call that a win.

On Wednesday, Ave and I hit up the zoo for an afternoon date. We fed the giraffes, went on a train ride, got up close and personal with some birds, a leopard, and a lemur, and we split an ice cream cone. Alright fine, it was more like 90/10 with me taking the proverbial cake.

I read yet another book, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. It was easy, breezy and just alright for me dawg. I just started Neil Gaiman’s Stardust and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

Additionally, Ave and I hit up the playground almost daily and I even managed to sneak in a jog or two. I’ve taken to wearing my work out clothes when we go the park so if the urge strikes, I’m ready to roll, or technically run. I also bring a bucket sized mug of coffee too, so there’s that.

On Friday, we drove to Buffalo to spend the weekend with my family. Thankfully my mini-minion slept the vast majority of the trip there, and we placated her with cheese the rest of the time. Like mother, like daughter.

In my home away from home, we ate, we frolicked, we made merry, and we spent tons of time with my family. It was a lovely weekend, and since we’re still technically still here, I’m gonna wrap it up and hang with my peeps some more. Blows kiss.

It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

That giraffe and Ave look like they’re having a stare down 🙂 Glad the week went well and was full of time with the fam and great eats! The ice cream sandwich cookies look heavenly.

The funny thing about Ave and the giraffe was she couldn’t have cared less about him, even though he was inches away. She was way more interested in the ducks in the distance. Ha.

I love that you go to the zoo as much as we do. It’s the best version of “taking the kids to the park.” Let me know what you think of Stardust. I have a love/hate relationship with Neil Gaiman.

It was a slow start but I’m enjoying Stardust now. I like a little science fiction/fantasy read from time to time, although it’s no LOTR.

We puffy heart the zoo. We even have a family membership. I’m sure you guys do too.

Wow it sounds like you had a really productive week; I love going to the zoo and seeing all of God’s wondrous creatures. They are always so fascinating. 🙂 I love that you even got to go jogging a few times, ate good food, and spent so much time with your sweet little Ave.

I’m not sure about the cookie sandwich (some place in Buffalo) and the pasta was store bought raviolis which we threw together at home.

Ahhh a week with family. I’m so happy you got in another trip up north before the summer ended. Nothing like family time away from home. Howd you get that shot of yourself running!? #professional

I’ll have to catch you up on my week next Monday. Still in BC being a yuppy. I’ll call that my accomplishment for now.

Fun time!!! I always say that I split something with Todd and in reality I’ve eaten at least 3/4 of it. Does Ave have a stork bite between her eyes? (Hope that’s not an insensitive comment) Kara has one, too! It’s almost the same shape. I know… random. That last pasta dish looks fantastic!

No offense taken. Ave has a small stork bite in between her eyes which has faded over time, although still visible. She used to have a stork bite on her nose too, and that one is completely gone.

It was so hot at the zoo and such a long day, the soft serve was definitely necessary. Besides what a perfect ending to a fun (although tiring) outing.

I’m sure Ave loves the speedy runs! Good for you!

Couldn’t help but notice your parents gorgeous haven of a yard! Who is the green thumbed gardener? Your mom or or your dad? It makes me really miss our old yard which I invested years of planting and care of shade gardens and pathways.

Every time I read your latest post I think I must get out more often. So today I went to Target for toilet paper. I returned home feeling very fulfilled and invigorated! See? It’s catching.

That yard belongs to my in-laws. Isn’t it beautiful? And they even put in a small pond and Ave loves to feed the fish.

I’m going to Target tomorrow for toilet paper. Great minds think alike. Ha!!

The picture of that garden looks so enchanting. The cocktail looks pretty enchanting as well. That’s so awesome to have the zoo. I joined the natural science museum and now we go every Monday which is my one day ‘off’ from the day job. Well we go when the city isn’t flooded and dealing with the aftermath of catostrophic flooding. I guess it might be a minute before we get to visit the museum.. currently Lulu has her first cold and not to be outshines by a hurricane she also has her first fever and sore throat. One thing is certain. I have a whole new appreciation for time, boring days, and calm because we’ve had none of that lately. But I can’t complain. We have a dry home and the animals are safe. Counting all the blessings and the sick baby snuggles.
