Week in Review: Sunsets, Silliness and Salads (#37)

June 27, 2016 by Meghan 42 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

Week In Review Button Final

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

Ave and I had dance parties to Nicki Minaj, Cat Stevens and Aretha Franklin. She’s got jazz hands down pat.

Ave Jazz Hands

We save the classical music for bath time.

We nursed for only thirteen hours, which means she’s still improving.

We had some fun on SnapChat (Clean Eats Fast Feets).

Ave and Meg as Puppies

We went to our weekly lactation support group.

We visited the summer solstice celebration at Lakewood Park.

Summer Solstice Sunset

As for my own self-care, I went for a run on Saturday morning.

I had lunch with a dear friend.

Brittany and Meghan in Sunflower Field

And I caught up with another bestie on FaceTime.

Meg and Amanda

Last but certainly not least, I ate my weight in salads.

Rainbow Salad Summer Salad 2016

This simple and healthy Southwestern Salad combines corn, black beans, avocado, green onions, pepper jack cheese, and cherry tomatoes. The Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette is the icing on the proverbial cake.

When I make a salad, I’m a dipper. I dip the stuff in dressing or dip. Idk why, but I grew up doing that…probably a reason I don’t eat too much salad. I’m gross. This week I finished the FAFSA and took a break from the training mindset. I’m not ready yet and that’s ok, 🙂

Oh my goodness Ave does adorable Jazz Hands!
I don’t know how you get anything else done, I’d feel like sitting around and playing all the time!

Instead, I am working–which brings me to salads. I made balsamic vinaigrette today. My recipe called for 3 quarts of olive oil!
    Oy!

Yum! Those are some sexy salads.
A summer solstice celebration sounds like a super-fun idea! I think a lot of cultures have something that’s basically a summer solstice holiday and a winter solstice holiday–for us, they just happen to fall near Independence Day and Christmas.
    Excellent jazz hands, Ave!

I find the laundry to be never ending over here. If it’s not our stuff, it’s Ave’s. In fact, she generates a lot of laundry; probably because she poops or drools on everything. 🙂

What a nice sounding week! Dancing, salads and time with friends included. I am in pre vacation + wedding preperations for my friend + a presentation of my thesis progress panic mode. I wish I had at least 4 more arms and another brain to keep going. In the sense of selfcare I still went to CF this morning. It was much needed. Loved this post. It reminded me that there will be calmer, more self-paced times.
Also 13 hours. That’s wonderful! And I loved the picture of you two on snapchat 🙂

I’m so excited for bath time, maybe too much so. I’ve breastfed 8 hours in the past 33 hours and it’s such a cool but complex process. Definitely looking forward to my weekly lactation support groups! Starting later like next week. We haven’t left the hospital yet.
What a crazy intense ride. Glad that there was a plan b because plan a was squashed. Thankful for good surgeons and medicine right now. And our healthy girl of course 🙂

You’re solstice looked dreamy! And oh those salads. Can’t wait! I’m back on the smoothie train when we get home.
