Week in Review: The Play Date Edition (#56)

November 7, 2016 by Meghan 18 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Before the tiny human entered my world, I spent my weeks frolicking and getting up to all sorts of shady shenanigans. These days, I call it play dates.

Let’s get listing:

The babe and I had a Halloween play date. Trick or treating was involved, and by trick or treating, I mean we went to one house simply so I could say we did the deed.

Of course, the babe and I went on our routine dates: lactation support group with a side of mommy and me story time.

We also had a bath time play date, our first joint swim since she’s been on the outside.

Ave and I also went on our first solo lunch date. The Hubby and his friend made an appearance at the end, but it was really about the kid and I (no offense mad monkey lover).

I had another lovely lunch date, this time all by myself. It was glorious and filled with my favorite, carbs.

Not to be completely outdone, the Hubby and I had our own play date, involving beer, hot dogs and tater tots because we’re classy like that.

Even the felines got in the shenanigans, although they do this on the regular, and by regular I mean daily.

Play dates are the best dates. Is there any other kind?
I’m really glad you got out for a lunch date to yourself – especially with the 24/7 babies duties. I love taking myself out for a meal, just on my own (or a coffee or a movie). Its calming for me. I also think its important for everyone to do once and a while – get connected with ourselves a little again, ya know? But of course, to be balanced out with baby and hubby dates. You choose damn good date food. I mean my god, that hot dog. And bananas on a salad!?! Swoon.

Sue me because that phrase is way overused but baby bear Ave? I can’t get over how cute she looks! That’s a picture for her photo album for sure.
If flights weren’t that expensive I’d ask you to invite me to one of your and Ave’s play/lunch dates.

Oh goooood! I’m glad you got out and had fun! I love those kitties. You know, I don’t think I have ever even thought of taking Callum out for a mommy and baby lunch date. I think that needs to happen this week sometime! My week in review is comin’ up soon.

I still remember the first time I took my son to a restaurant just me and him. I used him as my excuse to order dessert at lunch since I could technically share it with him. ha, he was a baby but already my best little friend.

Hot dogs and tater tots sound like the best and classiest date meal!
Good job on the bath taking, Ave. I remember I had a former teacher with a daughter about your age, and she (my teacher) had a song that went, “Splish splash, I was taking a bath, and the baby pooped in the water.” I bet your mom is happy that didn’t happen. 😉
    You are a cute bear.

Some American inventions are awesome, like tater tots and having Mac and cheese as a side with soup. I remember getting soup when I was in the south and being asked if I wanted Mac and cheese or potatoes and gravy with it – I was thoroughly confused but then very pleasantly surprised. You guys know about the best of both worlds! 😀

yes for bath time with mama! i swear i look forward to our nightly bath/massage routine so much, it has my hubby wondering if i’m ok. i much rather cut any evenings plans short so i can keep to our nightly baths followed by baby massage and singing. it’s fun and relaxing.. well at least for me. i’m hoping when she can talk to me, she’ll tell me loved our bath time, too. right now i’m going to think she does.
last week was our first little baby cold and i’m still getting through it. she never had a fever but of course it totally alarmed us and made me all weepy. i hate that she is all congested and coughing. my poor baby! i’m doing everything possible to help but the doctor said there is such thing as too much, so just focus on letting her rest. sleep is best. so ok i’m on board with that plan. she power slept last night which is how i’m alive and able to read anything right now. bless her sweet little self, i’m watching her on the monitor and i swear i could just go gah-gah staring at her feet all day.
here’s to healthy babies and healthy parents!!! the good thing is the doctor said the first cold is the worst, and after this her little immune system will be much stronger. oh yay, the silver lining 🙂
