Week in Review: Vampire, Veggies and Videos (#77)

April 3, 2017 by Meghan 26 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Last week was weird. It felt like there was so much going on one minute and nothing the next. I bounced around like a ping pong ball, which is par for the parenting course.  I also felt hungover without the booze (or a lot of booze) due to the tiny dictator’s most recent growth spurt. She’s a vampire bleeding me dry, and I have the sore and swollen nipples to prove it. On that note…

Let’s get listing:

Last week opened with Ave having an outpatient procedure to clear a blocked tear duct on her right eye. Fasting was involved (try explaining that to a baby), along with an IV and anesthesia. Even though my mini-minion was a champ, the day was emotionally draining.

Thankfully, my mother was staying with us, which was a huge help. In fact, she stuck around until Thursday morning, which gave me plenty of time to clean her clock in Scrabble; twice. She’s going to kill me for saying that and since she’s headed back here this weekend to celebrate Ave’s birthday, I’m in trouble.

I got a new used car, and while the Hubby did 98% of the work, I had to get our finances in order so we could put money down, which is the real reason I filed our taxes early this year; yes, I consider anything before April 15th early.

The tiny dictator and I hit up our usual places: the local library for story time, the park for a literal swing, Target for essentials (washi tape counts), Whole Foods for sustenance, and grandma and grandpa’s house for monkey business.

For my solo shenanigans, I got an hour long facial, complete with a shoulder massage. This is only my second time getting one, and it felt wonderfully indulgent to pamper myself.

I also opted to spend a couple of Ave’s naps reading as opposed to doing all the things; it was magical. Granted, my house is kind of a disaster right now and I’m out of clean underwear as a result.

Actually that’s not true. I did a holy crapton of laundry last week; I just haven’t folded anything yet. Oops.

I signed up for the summer CSA program, and I added a weekly cheese order to our veggies. June can’t come soon enough.

Fruit, cheese and veggies galore: how to create a simple, yet stunning snack platter for all your entertaining needs.

I did a fairly decent job of keeping up with my BlogLovin’ feed and responding to emails, including some really old ones.

Oh and most importantly, I created a YouTube channel for the sole purpose of being able to share this video on the blog. Ave wanted to say Hi.

It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

I need a massage badly. I’m hoping to get one in this month.

Try explaining fasting to a full blown adult (well, that should be in quotes and by adult I mean me). I am a hot mess when we have to do that, so you are the champion to end all champions with a baby!

Oh my dear lord. AVE’s HI!!!! I was going to go on about the excitement of getting a weekly CHEESE delivery…’cause that’s freaking amazing… but this video has now taken all my attention. So happy!!! 🙂

But cheese and veggies and shoulder massages and mom visits also make me happy.

So glad surgery went okay AND you got to pay Scrabble (my favorite) AND get a facial. That sounds like all good things. Sweet Ave on camera…that’s the prettiest face on YouTube!

It sounds like a rough week for Miss Ave (and by default you) but y’all seem to have come through like champs 🙂 I can’t believe that she’s almost a year old already.

Oh for cute! Love Ave’s adorable little “Hi!” Glad she did well with her procedure. I think babies are possibly easier than toddlers. When our son was 16 months old he needed tubes put in his ears (2 weeks before I gave birth to his sister) and that was not a fun day. Watching him come out of anesthesia was way worse than I thought it would be. That is amazing that your CSA has a cheese option… now I need to see if any local CSA’s have that option around here!!

I’m terrible at Scrabble; I’m definitely always the one who gets creamed in it; but I guess it’s good for keeping me humble? 😀
It’s always adorable when little ones talk; I love listening to all the little kids at church especially talk to their moms or tell me a story. It’s just too cute.

“Hi Ave!!! How are ya?” I just knew she’d have a sweet voice to balance the mischievous little grin! Oh so cute and SO MUCH fun to see her in almost life! So glad everything went well! And she has words! Love it!

Well, yes, I must say, I am ashamed to admit, I am down to my ‘uglies’ in the undies department too! Because, well, this sounds horrible, but MY baby was here for a whole week too! Yes, that is right! The youngest of my brood of , My 30 yr/old baby, and I only see him a few times a year, and I’d much rather visit and cook fun things than do my laundry! And any other household task. Sounds bad, but after the others all live around the corner. Our family is tight knit. We’re not used to our family being far, and we’ve got this one who found a career with travel.

I’ve had my week, now I’m gonna have to hit the gas and make up some double duty getting thing in order. It was worth it! I’ll always choose people over duty when you can and it’s causing no harm!

Happy, Happy, First Birthday Sweetgirl Ave! I cannot it’s believe it’s been a year already!

Oh that video!!!! Be still my heart. Is it the hormones?? I swear I nearly burst with joy and emotion at hearing that sweet voice. Sweetness!!! Who needs sugar when you’ve got that. What am I saying, of course I want sugar but Ave is just extra sweetness. I’ll take more please!!
So glad the procedure went well. Phew!! These little humans are incredible. I finally got a 55 minute massage and that was my 2nd one in 9 months. I hope I don’t wait that long to have the next one because it was blissful. Hubby is finally coming to the end of school. His graduation is may 13 and I’ve got a sitter staying the night and a hotel room waiting. You bet I’m going to have some if that water wine!

I wouldn’t want to have to choose between clean underwear and reading. At least no one will know if your underwear are wrinkly. 😉
A CSA *with* cheese? Hell yeah. Sign me up!

Hope everything in Ave’s procedure went smoothly! Hi Ave!!!!

Oooh poor Ave and poor you. Hope everything is okay now!

I am glad you had a good time with your mom and that you seized the opportunity to get in some alone time. A clean house is kinda overrated and as long as you still find fresh underwear somewhere I’d say go for reading over cleaning anytime!

A cheese order sounds exactly like your thing, I can’t believe something like that exists 😀

Have a wonderful week my dear!
