Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
Last week was banana shorts busy, mainly because we found out on Monday night that demo was going to start on Ave’s bathroom on Thursday morning. Gulp.
(Remember this little plumbing problem? It’s turned into let’s demo and redo the entire bathroom. Fun.)
As a result, I cleaned out Ave’s bathroom. I also moved almost everything out of her bedroom and the guest bedroom because they’re both connected to that same bathroom.
I did laundry and packed: twice, because dust and debris are not great conditions for adults, much less tiny humans.
On Thursday, the wee babe and I stayed overnight with the in-laws, and today we’re headed to Buffalo to stay with my family for the entire week. Hopefully, the major messy work will be complete by the time we return.
In addition to our nomad status, we did lots of activities last week.
We sang and danced at music class and tried our hand at a new art glass.
(The art class involved glue. Thankfully it also coincided with bath night.)
One afternoon, we went to a three-year old birthday party complete with a sweets filled pinata. I have no pictures because I was literally stealing candy from babies. Kidding…sort of.
I got my hair cut one day and my make up done another at Lusso’s Cosmetics holiday open house.
In addition to material maintenance, we got an oil change for the car, and I managed to go swimming twice last week.
I also did some holiday shopping for myself and others. Ave tagged along on a couple of occasions. She was a fan.
(Ave is waving Hi to the Abominable Snowman. She doesn’t realize he could eat her.)
We spent some time outside soaking up the last of the forty degree weather, raking up leaves, and putting up the outdoor wreaths and lights.
Since we were already in the holiday spirit, we went to Light up Lakewood and Ave got to witness her first parade and fire works display.
(Ave and her buddy are clearly not impressed with the parade. They did like the fireworks though.)
Continuing the traditions, we picked up and decorated our Christmas tree yesterday. The wee lass had a great time and enjoyed her peppermint hot cocoa, despite fighting off a cold. I’m sure chocolate is healing right?
Last but not least, I finished the toughest puzzle known to mankind. I’m not even exaggerating. I love puzzles, and I never want to do one this difficult again.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. Have you decorated for the holidays yet? What are some of your traditions?
You and I had parallel weeks with the oil changing and Christmas tree decorating and hair cutting! Alas, no one did my makeup and as you saw on Instagram, Jonas literary “tripped the lights fantastic” and ended up in Urgent Care. Boys.

If it helps, Ave got frustrated towards the end of the decorating and started chucking the ornaments.

work done in the house is never fun to live through but I bet you will love it once it’s all done! and omg, I loved taking my son to the kids art class back in the day, right around ave’s age! we took it at Gymboree – I wonder if they still offer it there? I have no idea but I really enjoyed it and I think he did too lol have a great week!

We missed the art class this week because we’re out of town but I’m already looking forward to going back next Monday. Ave seems to dig it and they do something new each week. The teacher is fabulous too AND it’s free!!

Yes, chocolate is healing and don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise. Also, that puzzle looks epically hard. Congrats on finishing it!

Thanks, I was rather proud of my puzzle completing skills. The next one I do will be significantly easier.

Geez louise. Puzzles. I can’t believe you stuck through that one, and finished it. Now what happens? Do you get it framed? Or does it just go back into the box with picture memory of the massive feat you once overcame…
Chocolate is very healing. Especially when mixed with peppermint. I think we should all load up on the peppermint hot chocolates right about now.
Hope the renovations go well and that you are happy with the outcome! A long time coming no? It’ll feel soooooooo good.

The puzzle went back into the box about a day after I finished it. It’s already back in its place in our basement and I hope to never see it again. 🙂 My next puzzle will definitely be simpler.
You’re a mind reader. The hot cocoa was peppermint flavored.
It’ll be nice to get the bathroom complete. We’ve had exposed plumbing since the end of September. Sigh.

OH MAN. That puzzle does look hard.
I’m so thankful God gave people different gifts like people being able to do rennovation. The idea of rennovating is a hard one to me, but some people love it so much; we’ve had quite a bit of rennovation on our house, and it’s so fun to see the transformation. I hope the reno goes well on Ave’s bathroom. 🙂

Thanks. I’m hoping it goes well too. Fingers crossed.

This is why we don’t have a house yet, or children. I don’t think I can handle how to fix everything or renovate. can i hire you? LOL!
Of course. You can even pay me in food.

Wait…you live near Lakewood?! I grew up in Avon Lake!
Yes. My in-laws live in Avon.

Well done on the puzzle, I do not have the patience for that kind of stuff. Or maybe I just haven’t fully committed? Who knows. Soaking up the last of the 40F weather is what I’m doing too, except today it hit freezing and I SLIPPED ON ICE walking into work. Rude.

Oh no. Your poor pride and maybe butt too if that’s what you landed on.

Omg that puzzle looks ridiculous! Every Christmas my mom, grandma, and sister start working on a puzzle. I usually get so frustrated 20 minutes in that I end up giving up haha! So props for sticking with that thing.

I love puzzles but this one was way too tough. My next one will definitely be easier.

Well I’m not going to send you that crayon puzzle I actually gave up on… Still grinds me that I gave up on it but I believe it was the word impossible in a physical form.
I really hope the break away to Buffalo is just what Ave needs to get better. After all it’s a whole new city for her to experience the Christmas light and decorations!

Ok now I want to try the crayon puzzle. Clearly I have issues.
Ave is feeling much better (thank goodness) and enjoying the visit with family. Me too.

Of course chocolate is healing. So is visiting grandparents.
I still need to put my Christmas tree up. Maybe this weekend…
Well said. The grandparents might even be more healing than chocolate.
Good luck with the tree decorating.

You finally finished it!!!! We have one we shoved under the couch and forgot about. It was taking too long… you know how that goes. HA! Maybe we’ll pull it out this weekend.

Next time I come to town, we can tackle the puzzle again. I’ll happily help especially if you give me a glass of wine.

fireworks and a parade, how fun!!! Ave sure is living it up large! so much fun, i love it. the cooler temps finally hit houston, even though i was one 5 days last week. well saturday to wednesday, and when we left on saturday it was in the 80’s and when we got back it was in the 40’s. brrr.
i love her little cocoa mug. lulu got to try gummy bears for the first time in cancun, in the family lounge, and she decided she loves them. she calls them “yellows” because i guess some of the bears are yellow and we’re learning colors… and well that’s where we’re at. there were gummy bears, sour things, and marshmallows. she only wanted the gummy candies. all them yellows.
up until now she hadn’t tasted candies, but now she is a full-fledged connoisseur of the gummy bear family.
i just want to get back to that resort… to the family lounge where they had the candy bar buffet, as well as the adult liquor bar and champagne and gourmet snack buffet. that was just too much fun to leave!
we must do this one day 🙂 it would be so nice to meet other families there or any other all inclusive beach paradise. however i’d go back there in a heart beat.
The pictures of your trip looked amazing and it sounds wonderful too. Granted, I’m freezing right now, even with Oscar in my lap and a boozy beverage sounds really good. We’ll definitely have to join you next year.
Banana shorts you say? An intriguing. Saw the renovation work on your story. Glad you are able to get it out of the way before the holidays.
Ohmygoodness, that snowman is terrifying. Glad Ave is brave enough for both of us.
WOO way to go on that puzzle!!
I’ve been trying to say banana shorts and other things instead of crazy because that word can be demeaning to folks with mental illnesses. It’s really tough though to strike it from my vocabulary. Banana shorts is a fun replacement.
That phrase banana shorts has just entered my vocabulary and stuck. My boyfriend knows it, my students know it, my roommate knows it. 😉 i hope you will consider it a tribute and not plagiarism.
Good work on the puzzle. I don’t have the patience to finish a puzzle, and usually give up 5 minutes into doing that. Haha
