Get you pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week was a rough one. I came down with some freaky virus (kids are harbingers of filth and germs) and spent the better part of the week on the struggle bus and did very little outside of laundry and grocery shopping because survival mode.
Let’s get listing:
I read three books and started a fourth, which is probably the most reading I’ve done in a single period since high school.
(It seemed more fitting to include a photo from high school than a picture of me reading with tissues stuffed up my nose.)
I drank my body weight in herbal tea, while simultaneously blowing my now red nose raw.
Ave and I spent a lot of time with grandma and grandpa. My in-laws are amazing.
And of course the Hubby picked up my slack (and soup) when he wasn’t working.
I went to a blogger event: Sip, Savor, Social. It was at two restaurants in the Tremont area: The Southside and Hi and Dry. We were spoiled rotten with tons of tasty food, sips of sassy cocktails, and gobs of glorious company. It was an amazing experience, and I feel so incredibly fortunate to be a part of it.
(Habanero Espolon: a cocktail with a kick)
(My Big Fat Greek Salad with watermelon and feta)
(Black Bean and Kimchee Tacos with Quinoa)
(Deep Fried Mac&Cheese filled Pierogi)
(Beet Fettucine with Goat Cheese and Dill)
Outside of being wined and dined, I colored Easter eggs with the tiny human and her bestie, which requires a certain level of dedication and mental prowess when one is not feeling her best. It also lasted all of four seconds before they resumed running around the house like honey badgers.
Last but not least, I celebrated Easter with my mother and the Hubby’s extended family while my poor man slaved away at work. It was lovely to catch up with everyone and Ave got to run laps with her cousins.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. What did you do for Easter, if you celebrate?
Wow! If that’s you not feeling well, then no wonder your a whiz at your best and healthiest days! I am impressed even though I do realize that many of your accomplishments were probably not your choice. Moms don’t really get to just hop into bed and pull the covers up.
Pretty sure my daughter had the same cute high school hair! So thank you for that memory! I would have loved seeing you in action back then, I’ll bet you were tons of fun and full of intestering thoughts and ideas.
Congratulations on building your blogging rep to a very respectable level! Every time we turn around you’ve been invited to something or some place new! You deserve it too! Maybe I’ve become a little biased but I don’t think so.
It does almost feel like all my hard work blogging all these years is catching up with me and paying off in food dividends. I quite like it. 🙂
I was a sassy teenager with a side of smarts, at least smart enough to convince my parents I could be trusted. Ha!

Ugh oh nooooooo. Your cold sounds like it just got worse since last week. No fun at all! I’m glad you got all your birthday celebrating in before it hit full throttle. Thank god for family and in-laws who can come take over. Here’s hoping this week is a much better, less-klneenex-filled week.

I’m feeling better (finally) although still going through Kleenex like I have stock in it. Sigh. Oh well, you can’t win ’em all.

That mac n’ cheese looks FINGER lickin’ good, and the blogger event sounds fun! I’m curious; how do you find those blogger events? Also, for some reason again, the Inlinkz can’t detect my back link? You don’t have to add it but here’s the link to this week’s linkup: http://emilyanneswanson.com/feeling-tired-finding-refreshment/.
Also, we had such a sweet Easter/Resurrection Sunday! We went to church in the morning, and then we had a family over from church for a big Easter dinner; all the potatoes and ham and sweet potatoes and biscuits!!! YUMMMM. <3

Oh crap, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see this comment (I’m so behind on blogging stuff) until now and I didn’t get you added to the link up. My apologies. Forgive me. I’ll keep a look out this coming Monday in case it happens again.
Your Easter sounds pretty fabulous. I’ll take all the biscuits.
Most of my food events have been through a local company called Mouthwater Media who handle social media marketing for some area restaurants. Hence all the food invites. It’s been wonderful.

3 books?!! That’s awesome! So jealous of the book reading but not so much the nose blowing. Hope you got some rest and this week looks
That Greek salad and that beet pasta. I am in love.
Ave makes an adorable bunny by the way. 🙂

I’m finally starting to feel better and am grateful for all the reading I was able to do while under the weather.

Aww I’m so sorry you got sick 🙁 I’ll bet being sick as a mom is quite the struggle, but sounds like you were a rockstar! I actually got sick a few days ago too, right in the middle of my Easter break, as I was visiting my best friend at college. So, not ideal, and definitely made the weekend a bit less fun than I’d hoped, but in a weird way, I’m kind of grateful to have gotten sick. Sounds weird but I feel like it forced me to fully relax and just do the bare minimum instead of finding other things I could be doing. Felt nice to just veg out on the couch and Netflix ya know? And sounds like with your four books, you got at least some of that 🙂
Also that event sounds amazing! Deep fried mac and cheese pierogi WHATTTT!!!!

Oh yes, Ave had a blast at Easter. She got to eat candy and run laps with her cousins. Hashtag winning.

my other half did all the easter things on saturday and sunday with our tiny tot as i was the working one on saturday, and sunday we had family brunch then my mom and i spent the afternoon together while the little one went up with daddy to her other granny’s house. overall it was great week. just a few little tantrums but nobody was injured, and i call that winning 🙂 actually several chocolate bunnies were injured! at least they were enjoyed.
Aw daddy daughter time. Now that is definitely winning.

I hope you’re on the mend, being sick sucks, but being sick with a tiny human has to suck EVEN WORSE. At least there’s deep fried mac and cheese.

Being sick with a tiny human is incredibly talented. Fortunately I have a really good and reliable support system. I have no idea how single parents manage.

I had a jalapeno margarita last weekend and it was EPIC. Jody and I went out for his belated birthday and ate tacos and margaritas and saw Brian Regan at the Ryman in Nashville and it reminded me what it was to be an adult again.
And if you still have the sniffles and need another read: The Power by Naomi Alderman. You will LOVE it.

Added it to the list. Thanks for the recommendation.

I think I had that flannel shirt. Hope you are feeling better!
Remember when flannel was all the rage in high school. It was the whole Seattle grunge phase. 🙂

Kids are germy AF! I actually was surprised Evie didn’t get sick when you guys visited. She gets sick if someone mentioned feeling sick. Apparently, we are immune to children though. Visit with you cute little bunny anytime! 😉
I’m shocked neither one of you got sick when we were there. I was a mess.

Lol love that photo so much of Ave and her sheep (I think? Or llama?).
Yep, it’s a sheep. It’s one of her favorites.
I hope you have now been able to fully step off the struggle bus! Germs, bugs and colds seem to be everywhere here too. Think it’s because the temps keep going up and down on a rollercoaster. It sucks, just be autumn already!!
Glad you got some family time over Easter, even if it was sadly without the hubby. Easter is another one of those holidays where it’s odd not to spend time with family… But my parents arrive here in 2 weeks so we will more than make up for it!

I think the weather is partly to blame for this damn cold. It keeps fluctuating and this past week has been cold and blah. I’m so ready for Spring.

I wish I could have come taken care of you! A good spicy hot toddy would do the trick right? ☺️
Glad you are better! Praise god for family and herbal tea
I will take all the hot toddy’s especially if you’re making them.
