♫ “I’m going going, back back, to Cali Cali.”♫
Confession: I’ve never been to California so the idea of going back isn’t exactly accurate. I have no future plans to go there either, although I do have Biggie stuck in my head; this song in particular, on repeat.
♫ “I’m going going, back back, to Cali Cali.”♫
I’ll be honest, I don’t mind a little Biggie playing up there, although I will say it depends on my surroundings. If I’m in a work meeting, his musical renditions might not be the most appropriate. Then again, they’ve never seen me rap. I do an impressive Snoop Dog.
Maybe instead of imaging myself on a stage, spitting out mad lyrics, I should look at this song as a simple sign. We do have a couple of offices on the west coast. I could talk to my boss and see about paying them a visit. A little change in scenery could be good for me. I’d be totally down with it too, so long as I got to plan every aspect, of course. Perhaps I could carry Oscar around in one of those silly purses too; he’d love it.
While I might not be ♫”going going, back back, to Cali Cali,”♫, I am going old school on y’all because it’s my blog and I can do what I want, which today means comfort food, writing style.
Without further ado or more mad rapping, let’s give it up for the Week In Review. …and the crowd goes wild. Just me? Hmm.
Now I know I laid this link up to rest so many months ago; bagpipes even came out for the show. Simply stated though, I miss that little fucker, which I say in only the kindest of ways; so much so, I’m penning a Week In Review post today, complete with my lovely lists and all. Insert happy shiver here. It’s ok; I’ll wait for you to twitch with glee.
How I’ve longed to say these three words again.
Let’s get listing.
- I worked far too many mentally challenging hours at the office yet again. We’re down a man, but reinforcements start this week so hopefully the end is in sight.
- Despite missing most of my lunch time workouts, I still managed to get in three sweat sessions last week, which involved my feet hitting the pavement, in a continuous manner. While I might not be the biggest fan of running, I love the way things feel upstairs afterwards. It clears the mind and makes room for Biggie.
- In addition to running, the Hubby and I went hiking at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We had a blast, even if we did go the wrong direction for the first hour. Oops, no matter, we timed ourselves, deviations and all. Surely, you’d expect no less from me.
- I did a holy crapton of assignments for my food photography class, with a new lesson surfacing every single day. We talked about camera angle, depth of field, picture framing and story telling. Only a week in, and already a world of knowledge at my fingertips, literally. I’m thinking it might be high time (cough, cough, past due time) to figure out how to work my camera’s manual settings. Anyone want to come over and teach me? I pay in food.
- I had dinner out with the family on Friday night. Ample amounts of pasta and refreshments were consumed.
- Last, but certainly not least, I did lots of food prepping in anticipation of sending the Hubby back to school today.
And either I took no pictures of the finished product, or the Hubby is going to have a great time eating raw potatoes and squash this week. Sounds like a meal you’d might find in California. Speaking of, ♫”I’m going going, back back, to Cali Cali.”♫ C’mon now, sing it with me. ♫ “I’m going going, back back, to Cali Cali.”♫
Please tell me I’ve lodged that song in your head now? It would make my day. Also tell me what you got up to last week? Quick: give me a high point and a low point, or just a high point if you prefer. Biggie was all about the high.
Tina Muir says
Yes, you have lodged that song in my head…..and I have an 18 mile run coming in an hour…..guess what will be going round and round my head!!!!! Satisfied? :p Looks like a wonderful time to me, and that national park looks beautiful, what a great summer activity 🙂

What a hike! The UK just doesn’t have quite the same scenery as the States… *sad* I do still rather love it though.
Last week’s low – driving an hour home at 2am on Saturday night to round off a 14 hour shift at work (at a wedding). So. Tired.
The high – a gloriously relaxed day on Sunday involving banana pancakes, more films that I care to admit to and winning (/it may have been a draw) Uno 🙂 happy days!
Hope this week has a bit less work for you, nice work on keeping running though!

That is a low, but I think your pancake high more than makes up for it.

Confession- I had to youtube that song because I didn’t recognize it, but now its on a loop. So happy to see you reviewing again, even if it’s just you at the party it feels good to share your accomplishments with the world 🙂
Sorry to hear that work has been icky, hoping those reinforcements pick up some of the slack for you. And if not you could always forget the workday in that watermelon/lemon/vodka combo!

That is a perfect song to be on a loop; it’s definitely on one in my head.
The watermelon/lemon/vodka is a great combo. You should try it.

When I was packing up to move to “cali” I can assure you, I drove everyone nuts singing that song… including myself. I”m quite sure I’m allergic to it now. That said, you should come!!!!!
How much longer does the hubbie have of school?
Meghan says
I love that you sang it non-stop. That’s a woman after my own heart.
2 more years… le sigh.

Oh HELL yes for that hike! AND a run, dear Lord I’m in love. AND THOSE VEGGIES AND POTATOES. SO I really think you should come to Washington, California is overrated and you wouldn’t like the people, really…Washington would capture your soul. Or maybe just I would capture your soul. Convinced yet? I bake treats often…

May I suggest a lovely change in scenery for you? I don’t know if you’re aware, but our Canadian Rockies are gorgeous around this time of the year… and I happen to know someone who’s very familiar with them. She even knows a good amount of photography and would be more than happy to help you with your manual settings, provided you pay in pancakes 😀

I could pay in pancakes. I’m even great at flipping them. Do you prefer sweet pancakes or savory. Scratch that; I know you’d rather have sweet.

Love your hiking pictures! I’m already planning some late fall hikes for when I return to the States in November.
High point of my week: Finishing and getting paid for a huge project I’ve been working on for weeks. Though as Biggie says, mo money, mo problems. (But actually, it was really nice to get finish/get paid.)

Biggie biggie…can’t you see- sometimes your love just hypnotize me—-> now try and get THAT out of your head haha! On a separate note, we need to start throwing around some Tupac references! The photography class sounds SO awesome- I feel like I’ve been on a self-study course…I don’t even want to count how many different photography blogs I’ve read since Saturday! What camera are you using? As for highlights of the week, buying a new one definitely comes up on that list (Nikon L830)!

That is a song I will happily have in my head. Another Biggie classic, and I’m totally down with moving in some Tupac. Gotta keep it balanced, right?! 😉
My camera is the Canon Powershot S100 which is not known for being a foodie camera. I bought it a couple of years ago used, from a friend so it was the right price. Hopefully I can figure it out.

I actually generally don’t do the assignments until later in the day, after I get home from work. Some days, I even did the assignment the next day. Oops. It’s been eye-opening though. I definitely can see the difference between what I’m doing and what a great photo looks like, although now I gotta figure out how to put that into play.
I will take your potatoes and sugar. 🙂
