Come on in; pull up a chair. Kick off your shoes, relax and make yourself comfortable because today it’s all about the Questions and Answer session; not to be confused with T&A in any way, shape or form (wink, wink).
Me, I’m going to lie right down on this super cozy couch, put my feet up, and get ready to answer all of your very thoughtful and insightful questions. Or at least the ones posed to me months and months ago when I was nominated for some blogging awards. Ignoring them has been downright cruel, so I think a little cleansing in the form of a Q&A seems fitting.
Thank you so very much Miss Polkadot, Just Add Water, and Eat Great Be Great for nominating me for the Liebster blog award. I appreciate the love, and I’m sorry its taken me this long to blog about it. For once (mark it down), I have no justification, and I’d throw myself at your feet and beg for mercy, except it’s comfortable here on the couch. You understand.
Tradition says I reveal this, answer that, ask this, nominate you and you and you, but I say to heck with tradition. Instead, I’m going to answer a handful of questions from each blogger because let’s be real, we all know how wordy I can be. So, in the interest of saving time, I’m keeping it short(ish). Really; this is best for all parties involved.
And away we go.
1.) Name the three most-worn items from your closet. If you mean my entire wardrobe, then my pajamas are a clear winner, and by pajamas, I mean my sweatpants, a shirt and sweatshirt. It’s my official “outfit” when I get home from work every day, and again when I wake up in the morning. Don’t get me wrong, I love to get dressed up if I’m going out, but when I’m at home, it’s casual all the way.

2.) Who’s your biggest inspiration in life? Pass, these emotional questions aren’t for me. Look, I’m happy to share my cleavage, mad monkey love, but deep-rooted emotional stuff, or perhaps just my biggest inspiration…yeah, that’s where I draw the line. Go figure; I didn’t even realize I had a line.
3.) Are you a planner or a spontaneous person? This is laughable. I am a self-professed over-planner. I’ve learned to embrace my structured ways, even if it makes me a touch neurotic. We’ve all got issues; I figure crazy ain’t bad. Besides, I throw one hell of a party.
4.) Tea or coffee? Coffee, Coffee, COFFEE….in fact, maybe I shouldn’t have had that last cup. I’m starting to feel twitchy.
5.) Is there any book you’ve read multiple times? If yes: which? Oh where to begin. I am a chronic re-reader. I’ve read hundreds of books, handfuls of times. If I own it, and I own several, I’ve reread it, multiple times.
6.) Where is your happy place? My happy place is in my own home, usually in the morning with a cup of coffee, my various lists and the internet, all while the Hubby sleeps soundly upstairs.
7.) Would you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert? I’m an introvert and a blogger which is an oxymoron, but true nonetheless.

8.) What is one of your favorite family traditions? When we lived in the same state, my mother and I used to watch The Sound of Music every year at Christmas. I still watch it, usually while writing out my holiday cards and baking goodies for the neighbors, and I always think of my Mama. LL has the same effect on me. ♫ Mama said knock you out. I’m gonna knock you out. Huuuh!” ♫
9.) What is a blogging goal you have for yourself and your blog for the next year? To get Food Gawker to accept one picture. This baby didn’t make the cut. It’s ok because I’m persistent and will stalk them until they let my photos in their vaulted doors.
10.) Are you a morning person or night person? It’s all about the a.m. baby. See my response to question six. Wednesday night, I went to bed before nine, and it was amazing. If I had my druthers, I’d make that a reoccurring thing.
11.) Are you a city girl or a country girl? I’m a city girl through and through, although I wish I had a little bit more yard, so I could expand my pot garden to a plot garden.
12.) If you had $1,000 dollars to spend on anything, what would you buy? I’d hire a cleaning service for as long as $1,000 would last me. I’m a pretty fastidious house keeper, so this would in essence buy me time; extra hours in my day to while or sleep away. Right now, I’d chose sleep.
13.) Do you have any siblings? I have two brothers; one older and one younger, which goes a long way towards explaining my eight year boy sense of humor.
14.) If you’re stranded on a desert island, what are your 3 MUST have items? Sunscreen because I have a ‘porcelain’ or ‘ivory’ complexion (go with it) and burn easily. Water because hydration is of paramount important, and I’m not sure fresh water will be available. Three, a great book which I can and will reread over and over again.
15.) Milk or dark chocolate? Dark chocolate, preferably in the form of gelato with a caramel swirl and sea salt running through. I heart my local gelato place, The Sweet Spot.
Time’s up. Thank you for coming in today, and I’ll see you again in a week for our next session. Same bat time; same bat channel. Or really, I’ll see you on Monday for the Week In Review party. Bring your lists and link on up.
Your turn. I want to hear from you. Answer any or all of the questions above.
It’s an excellent photo. FG missed out.
My sentiments exactly. So what if there’s grass in the background.
that’s what i thought. And i’ll take any leftovers
There are no leftovers, but I’d happily make you a new one anytime.
I’m totally the same as you, I get in from work and put a clean pair of PJ bottoms or some track pants, a comfy top, jumper and my slippers.
I love the quote! It’s so funny, my colleague and I were talking about that the other day, that whether you keep your bra on or not when you get home is the indicator of whether you’re in for the night or not.
My bra is one of the first things off as soon as I get in the door. My jewelry too. 🙂
I’m game
1. My running clothes- which may explain why I’m constantly buying new running outfits. In my head people who see me in the street are saying: she’s wearing that again??!!
Animal print heels- I am known for wearing supper high stilettos everywhere and I do mean everywhere. I don’t care if I’m going to Walgreens, I’m doing it in style jajaja
4. Coffee without a doubt
8. My favorite time of year is xtmas. When we were little we always got new pijamas to wait for Santa clause, I have done the same with my kids. I treat them to new pijamas for Christmas Eve.
11. Are you kidding??!! With my heels??!! City Girl!!!!
12. $1000 huh??!!! This is so hard to answer, I have do many things I have to do that I can’t pick one. What I can assure you is that they will be spent FAST!!!!!
13. Have a younger brother who looks nothing like me. I’m black, he’s white ( same mother and father, we believe jajaja). Use to hate going out with him when I was younger cause boys wouldn’t go near me, everyone thought he was my boyfriend.
15. Milk chocolate, can’t have it around the house or I’ll be stuffing my face constantly. It’s a challenge when paying groceries not go pick one up.
Thank you for all your responses. I love getting to know a bit more about you, and I can almost see you prancing around in animal print heels. It’s a great image, and I too own my share of animal print pumps. More than I care to admit.
That’s a really good Christmas tradition. We always get oranges because once upon a time, oranges were hard to come by so even though they’re commonplace now, they still have special meaning.
Middle child represents!! We’re so much alike. BTW, most bloggers are introverts. Not sure if you’ve made it to too many blogger conferences, but you’ll notice a ton of us wandering around with an awkward “not a fan of crowds” look on our faces.
You lost me at the dark chocolate tho….. bleh.
Not too dark….about 70 – 75%. Any higher and it’s too bitter for me. I kinda love the idea of a bunch of introverts at a conference, struggling to do small talk.
I may have just become a little more smitten with you because of the fact that a) you have actual book books as opposed to e-books, and b) you re-read them. I’ve developed emotional ties to so many books, that I have certain ones that I turn to as therapy — if I’m going through a rough patch or feeling overly stressed, I’ll pop one of those babies open, start reading, and instantly feel better. Books.are.love… As are pyjamas, coffee, and early mornings <3
Books are love is exactly right. What a perfect sentiment. For me, they’re like a warm bowl of chicken(less) soup on a cold and rainy day. I was such an avid reader and need to find a way to do more of it. It’s been hard to find enough time since I started blogging.
Ok, so I’m totally in love with that eCard! Did you make it? You did didn’t you? Oh God, I’ve created a monster! Haha!
Hmmm, I guess this means I should start hanging my yoga pants in the closet? Honestly, I have no idea why I even own half the clothes I have in there right now…oh wait, I know, it’s so I can cram them ALL in an oversized suitcase and take them to Cleveland for three days just so I can wear less than a quarter of them while I’m there! For the record though, I am SO glad I packed my coat! Can you believe when we got back to Nashville, it was like 85 degrees?! And now…now it’s like 60 out there and I’m bundled up in my fluffy robe huddled over a big mug of coffee! Ugh, gotta love living in the south! That being said, I actually DO love living in the south…born and raised country girl over here! I love visiting the city, but it’s just too face-paced for me. I’ll take the calm serenity of the my grandfather’s front porch complete with a swing and a nice glass of sweet tea any day! 🙂
Fuck Food Gawker…there, I said it! That pic is gorgeous! Oh and guess what! I bought some plain goat cheese and cilantro last weekend! Now I just need to hunt down one little peach and a jar of blackberry jam! 😀
Your grandfather’s porch sounds nice. Promise me, you’ll take me there and I can swing on it with a glass of sweet tea (I’ve never had sweet tea) if I ever make my way south. It sounds ideal for at least a day. Then I need to get back to my city slicker ways, high heeled shoes and all.
The meme wasn’t mine. Boo. Although I couldn’t find the source on that one. Guess you’ll have to come back and teach me some more things. 😉
Teleport ONNNNNNNN! Wait, why am I still at work?! Dammit!
Close your eyes real tight and wiggle your nose twice. That should do it.
Apology accepted – including the fact that you didn’t throw yourself at my feet to beg for mercy. If you’d just had an insignificant reason like being busy with work for it I might think differently but a way too comfortable couch is serious business. Totally agreed.
Thanks to this post I’ve gotten even more affirmation of how similar we are despite you being several [many] years wiser and more experienced in life [only mean people would use the term ‘older’] than me. Actually, I’d meant to mail you about this a while back after reading one of your posts but decided I didn’t want to be all creepy. Rambles about similarities might not be the most usual idea for a mail …
Oh and sorry but I have to insist you share some of your favourite books! If you’ve been re-reading them forever they have to be great and I’m in constant need of good reads.
You feel free to email your rambles anytime. I’d welcome it. In fact, I’m going to look forward to it now.
My tastes in books are just about as eclectic as my taste in music. I like it all, except country. 🙂
I mostly read fiction, although I can appreciate a good memoir. I like anything from young adult, murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, chick lit, to more serious literature. I was an English major in college and took entire courses on Shakespeare and Chaucer. Hell, I still know by heart almost the entire intro for The Canterbury Tales in Olde English. It used to drive my college roommates nuts.
Specifically, I’m rereading Stephen King’s Cujo at the moment. Before that, I reread Fannie Flagg’s Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café and Pearl Cleage’s What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day. I’m looking forward to rereading the Harry Potters series, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, and Alice Walker’s The Color Purple. I also want to read the Game of Thrones Book Four before the new season airs on HBO next year.
What types of books do you like to read?
Pajamas, coffee and dark chocolate. You’ve mentioned some of my most favorite things, friend.
Sounds like bliss to me. 🙂
Can one of my blogging goals be to have a photo approves by the gawkers too?? That and to become self hosted..that’s coming soon..hopefully very soon.
Absolutely. I think it should be one of your goals, and I will be there to congratulate you when it gets accepted!
Self hosted….I hear it’s a big switch. Good luck!
Love getting to know the blogger better! 😉
Hi5 for being a morning person too- I find my brain is defunct past 3pm…not great for those afternoon exams!
Coffee- its my vice. Without it, I am actually not functional- this morning I went to the gym without pre caffeine/coffee- nearly fell asleep deadlifting. Bad idea.
Damn Foodgawker- lets petition to have your pics published- especially with that pizza one…still thinking about it!
I didn’t submit the pizza one, but if you want to take up a petition on my behalf, I won’t say no. I might have to send you some homemade granola to thank you though…as soon as they make shipping to Australia reasonable.
Haha do you wanna be my BFF…we can sip coffee together and eat plenty of dark chocolate :)! And of course we’d be doing both in pyjamas! As soon as I step foot back home, the jeans/pants and bra come off and on come the pyjamas. Loved learning more about you! If I had a thousand bucks, I would travel…not very far purely so that I’d have some spending money left over to use on my trip 🙂
Wise decision. Travel is such a great thing. I’d like to do more of that too. Other than Brussels (which is no chump change mind you), I haven’t traveled much in the past few years. I’m looking forward to doing it again when the Hubby is done with school.
We can totally be BFF’s, especially since you already promised to bring the wine. I prefer white. 😉
Now you have me wanting to go curl up on the couch with a mug of tea (my version of coffee!) and a long treasured book and never ever leave. I might even pull on one of my favorite pairs of outrageously patterned socks (which are at the top of the most worn items from my closet list). I agree that you have to share some of your favorites because I am always looking for recommendations to read and explore and I finally have FREE TIME to do so 🙂
In the interest of time, I’m going to copy a portion on my comment to Miss Polka Dot. Not because I love you any less, but because I gave her a ton of my most recent reads just a few moments ago.
I’ll ask you the same question I asked her too.
What types of books do you like to read?
I say we start our own version of foodgawker that isn’t so damn exclusive! Also I have the same uniform of sweatpants, sweatshirt and a t-shirt. I really want to do a blog post on what bloggers look like while they cook lol Then again I don’t think anyone would eat my food if they knew what I looked like while I made it!
I think we should. We can call it Food Fabulosity. Or Anti-Gawker. Whatever works.
I cook in my sweats too, so I would happily eat your food. I think you should do a post and encourage others to link up pictures of themselves in their cooking attire. We can call it Beautiful Food, Messy Cooks. Or whatever you want since it’s really your idea. Run with it.
Love this post, Meghan! You’re so funny and so right to the point. I often feel I ramble, but you are funny and concise. Wordy? Everyone’s a gem!
Aw thanks Fran. I really appreciate it, especially since a lot of though goes into every single word. I am constantly editing and rewriting entire phrases to ensure they sound just right.
Definitely coffee, coffee, COFFEE!!! I’m also definitely a morning gal all the way. I’m in bed by 8:30 almost every night and out by 10 at the latest. I get up at 4:30am most mornings to train clients though. Also, I live with 3 men (my husband and two boys), I have lost the ability to say anything appropriate ever…
When I used to wake up in the 4 o’clock out, I’d go to bed that early too. As it is, I like to be asleep by ten, although it rarely happens.
Forget appropriateness, I can only imagine living with three men brings it’s own set of uniqueness to every situation.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. Hope to see you again soon and learn more about these lucky men in your life.
