October crept up on me like a son of a bitch.
It came out of nowhere all at once or maybe I was just resistant to the whole seasons changing thing. Who me? No way. I love pumpkin everything, and I choked on that last sentence.
Despite my reluctance, it’s a new season, a new month, and I even got myself a new hair style. Oh yes, I’m a full-blown ginger again, which means it’s time to catch you up right quick, and what better way than with a Currently post. That transition couldn’t have been any smoother if I’d tried. Oh wait, I did; genius takes work.
Current Book: Shadow of Night which is the second book in the All Souls trilogy, and I’m enjoying it even more than the first book, A Discovery of Witches. It feels a little Harry Potter-esque with some sex scenes thrown in for good measure and reading pleasure.
Current Music: This song. On repeat. When I’m running. It gets me all hot and sweaty, although that might be the actual running.
Current Guilty Pleasure: being completely lazy and self-indulgent on the weekends. Working hard during the week means resting harder on the weekends. It’s a thing.
Current Nail Color: clear, always clear, although I almost painted my nails just so I could answer this question differently.
Current Drink: Beet juice. Don’t knock it until you try it, specifically with a beet, an orange or two, some frozen pineapple and the juice of a lemon. Ahh, sweet beety bliss.
Current Food: I’m on an egg bender. Again.
Current Favorite Show: Sons of Anarchy.

Current Wish List: ♫ “I wish I was little bit taller. I wish I was a baller. I wish I had a girl who looked good. I would call her. I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat. And a six four Impala.” ♫ Sorry, I’ve been wanting to do that for a while now.
Current Needs: a Blogging Assistant. Please leave all applications in the comments section. I pay in granola and I’ve been known to work topless. I will leave to you whether that’s a pro or a con.
(image)
Current Triumphs: my shortest Currently post ever. Bam, except I have a few more questions to knock out, so carrying on…
Current Bane of Existence: a high of fifty degrees (10 °C) this past weekend. It’s okay though since it gave me a chance to have my first fire of the season.
Current Indulgence: a hunk of burning wood coupled with a side of relaxation, also known as photo editing. You do the math.
Current Blessing: Potatoes. Meet. Cheese. It was love at first bite, which would be a great title for vampire porn. Just sayin’.
Current Outfit: outdoor, civilized, interact with other people, type clothes. This is my Saturday outfit; on Sunday I lived in sweatpants, wool socks tucked into those same sweatpants, and a hoodie. Ain’t nobody wanna see that.
Current Excitement: my newest granola flavor, Banana Date Walnut. It tastes like candy. Recipe coming soon to a topless blog near you.
Current Links: Half Dime Homestead. I love this woman because a) she thinks I’m the cats pajamas (duh), b) she makes me laugh like a loon, and c) she makes the most amazing soaps which ♫ make me wanna leave the one I’m with, start a new relationship with you. This is what you do ♫…. Seriously, this soap makes coconut oil seem like child’s play; it’s that good. Now go get yourself some here. You will thank me later; I promise.
Current Mood: I’m feeling musical today. Must be all that relaxation, or it could be the side of wine. Just kidding, there was no wine, which means it’s the usual voices in my head. Hey, at least they’re singing. ♫ “Please don’t stop the music. Please don’t stop the music.” ♫
What’s your Current Excitement or your current Bane of Your Existence? Have you had a fire yet this season? Want to be my Blogging Assistant? I pay in granola.
Love the new hair & super cute outfit! I’d be your blogging assistant except that it may be hard long distance. I will work on those post cards for you though! You and your bro are on my to-do list for that. I just need to work on the whole crossing things off the list part : )
You take care of you first, my bro second and then maybe me third. Besides, I have big design changes I want to discuss with you before doing anything with postcards. I’ll reach out to you soonish, which could either be this weekend or three months for now. 🙂 Now that I’ve narrowed that down……

Given your granola track record, I am more than happy to become your assistant…just tell me how to sign up ;)! Can’t wait for the Banana Date Walnut granola recipe- sounds delish! My current excitement is the thought of my nephew/niece that is on its way…roll on March 2015!
PS LOVE the hair- it looks uber chic and so fall-appropriate!

That is great news. Congratulations on being an Auntie. How exciting.
I shall send you the assistant specs. 😉

I don’t think I could love your current wish list any more, you’ve brightened up my day! Autumn = all the roasted veggies, more than enough cause to my excited in my books. Oh and I’ve entered my first ever running race (10k) in 13 days time, yay!
Pip {Cherries & Chisme} recently posted…Planned Intuitive Living
You are so sweet, and I’m thrilled I was able to brighten your day. I had no idea I had the effect on people. We should talk because you know I’m in the market for a blogging assistant…
Good luck with the race. I know you’ll do fabulously.

Banana Date Granola? Considering how much I love banana date muffins I think I’d adore it, and I am fresh out of your coconut lime pineapple granola. I’d apply to be your blogging assistant but that would involve knowing WP and I don’t know nothin’ bout WP. However, if I can figure out how to post it, I have a hilarious–to me–screen capture tutorial on how I did my recipe index, complete with the mailman stopping by (and the ensuing cacophony) and the big dog coming into the breakfast nook to (finally) eat his breakfast (at 2 pm) and my inability to properly alphabetize the titles Cheddar Apple Blah Blah and Caramelized Apple Blah Blah and something else.
Perhaps only funny to me, now that I think on it. I was singing too.
And speaking of singing, I always thought it was “a 6’4″ father” not Impala.
In a Glob of Velveeta, Baby . . .

I like your stories. They’re funny to me too.
I have many comments… so I’ll arrange them in a list, which I know you’ll appreciate.
1. Love the hair. Gingers are my jam.
2. That’s a great song… I just read to it. But I couldn’t workout to it. I need to bump, ya know what I’m sayin’?
3. I got my nails done for wedding Saturday. They’re already chipped to hell. Back to clear, I go!
4. Beets rock. I put them in smoothies. Which chocolate. Duh.
5. I wanna be a balla, shot calla….
6. Burning wood. Hee hee.
7. I don’t know if I’m more excited by the granola or the topless blog. Either way, I’d totally be your assistant.
I really like that this list ends on a prime number.

Ladies, ladies, I have room enough for two assistants. In fact, I suspect you’ll both walk around topless with me.
Woods always burning if you’re doing it right. 😉
Meghan recently posted…Currently: October 2014
I LOVE that song. Totally going to bring it to CrossFit and make them do the WOD with it. Ha.
Bane of existence? Not enough hours in a day aka not enough sleep. I think about writing a letter to God. It’s been long enough 24 hours, I think a change is needed.
As mentioned above, I wanna be your assistant. You can send the granola and a pic of you topless, no biggie.
Speaking of you – you look FABFABFAAAAAB!!! Love the hair and the makeup.
Lucie@FitSwissChick recently posted…Partying and Pondering
It’s a great workout song. I love to do hill climbs in spinning to it too.
You’re hired. See, you’re having trouble at work, I need help; it’s a win-win for both of us. I shall ready the guest bedroom. You don’t mind a strange Alison In Wonderland mural on the wall right? Ok, good.
Ha! I could use my own blogging assistant sometimes. I would pay in cookies. Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t like to share.
Meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles recently posted…You Never Sleep Again
I understand. Sharing cookies can be tough work. It’s not for the faint of heart certainly.

Thanks much! Gingers have more fun.
LOVE the new hair! I contemplated going darker for the winter but the last time I did that my hair was kinda funky looking… But anywho ginger looks amazing on you!
As far as applications I would totally hit you up for the granola and other perks, but I’m pretty sure I’m qualified to be a blog assistant to no one 😉
That new granola flavor sounds fabulous though and I cannot wait to try it, especially because I OD’d on the peanut butter chocolate one… Whoops
Sarah Pie recently posted…Increase your productivity- without increasing your stress
You and the Hubby both. He can’t contain himself around the Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate. Silly boy.
I bet you’d look sweet with some chestnut brown locks.

Your fire looks so cozy! I need to start actually using my fireplace.
My current excitement is Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend! I can’t wait for our tradition of going to the county fair and betting on the duck races… yes, that is a thing.

Holy cow, I knew it was in October, although I didn’t realize it was this weekend. I can see why you’re excited. Quack, quack.

LOL. My recipe today can be renamed to Meg’s hair do. Rockin’ it like a boss.
And you’re granola record is on point and I have no doubt this will be a winner too. I’d like to be your blog assistant…
also- Current Guilty Pleasure: being completely lazy and self-indulgent on the weekends. Working hard during the week means resting harder on the weekends. It’s a thing.
Out of anyone I know, you are warranted that.

You can be my blog assistant. In fact, I’d be lucky to have you. Matter of fact, I think you’ve already started on the technical aspects of the gig.
When I overwork myself, the only way to combat it is through equal amounts of rest. It’s the only way I can stay sane, and I actually do like mental clarity.
Meghan recently posted…Currently: October 2014
i loooooooooooove the new ginger and straight! TOO CUTE! and hawt.
Can i get in on that blogging assistant? make it a duo team please.
oh and “I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat. And a six four Impala.” I always thought it said CAT … ahahahaha. good to know
You’re not the only one to think that lyric was something. I did too until I googled it and was like, Oh, that’s what he’s saying. Ha!!
We’d be an undefeatable blogging team.

😆 I literally laughed out loud when I read the answer to your nail colour question, because I thought about doing the same thing before I answered mine. Instead I just talked about my toes, which always have colour because clear on those just feels goofy. And I’ve been listening to that song for the past 10 minutes trying to place what movie/game/something I know it from. This is going to drive me crazy all day. Expect an excited text when I finally place it…
Amanda @ .running with spoons. recently posted…. flourless apple cinnamon muffins .
I was thinking about focusing on my toes too. Ha, mine are always red. Can’t beat sexy red toenails.
Meghan recently posted…Currently: October 2014
What a coincidence i accept payment in the form of granola! and omg- I LOVE THE HAIR! i’ve been thinking about trying red, i dont think i could pull it off as well as you’re doing it though. and i just did something weird with nail polish- i got red on my fingers and light pink on my toes- i understand its the opposite of everything normal and sane, but im kinda digging it this week. (next week will probably be navy or something 🙂 )
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness recently posted…How to Recognize if You’re Raising a Budding Healthy Living Blogger
You could totally pull off red. In fact, if you’ve got the right swagger going, you can pull off any hair color. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Hair..outfit…food..your face. All of it…perfection. I love October more than words can describe. I am so pumped for this month. I am definitely all over the pumpkin shit..sorry…but I am definitely not sorry. I hate that phrase so much, but this moment called for it. Can I be your assistant? And by assistant I mean person that sits with you doing nothing and eating chips.
Brittany recently posted…Coffee Tasting for One
I hate that phrase too. If you’re not sorry, why even bother saying sorry. Just move on.
I’d love to have an assistant like you. We can eat chips all day together.

Please make sure you write a post if you get a new blogging assistant. I’m sure your standards are high and this person could only have as cool a sense of humor as you…

Yep; Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend!! And to celebrate….I’m going to CT to do a show! LOL. Been knitting like crazy all week for surprise gifts fer ma girls.
I hate the cold. Hate it. Bane of my existence. I like snow, hate cold. Love fall, the smells, the colours; hate cold.
I dunno how you blog topless. My boobs complain without support.

I do think you’re the cat’s pajamas. Indeed.
I will add my voice to the posse that likes the hair – red is fantastic. If I could get away with it and not look like a homeless meth addict, I would.
Every time someone says they like my soap, I have a moment of “oh, no – you’re just saying that”. I’m so glad you like it, though! Since I can’t send you chicken eggs in the mail, oil and butter and lye will have to do.
Cheers!
BTW – granola is 3/4 gone. My belly is so happy right now. I had to take it to work bc the H was eyeballing it and I didn’t want to come home to three oats and a lone chocolate chip in the bottom of the jar.
Lindsey @HalfDimeHomestead recently posted…Disruption
Oh just admit it already. You are a homeless meth addict, one that makes damn good soap!
