Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.
Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
- I worked 50 plus hours at the job which pays my bills. I had my big presentation last Monday, the one I spent hours practicing for, and I’m happy to report it paid off.
- I wrapped a holy shitton of presents throughout the week.
- I had my Anatomy Ultrasound on Friday afternoon. It’s amazing how long these appointments can last and a pity they didn’t need to me to pee in a cup. I went three times in the span of a single visit. Also and more importantly, the baby appears to have all ten fingers and all ten toes.
- I published three blog posts, including an educational one (who am I?) on food photography and styling along with the easiest smoothie recipe this side of town.
- I hit up the grocery store, unloaded the dishwasher countless times, balanced checkbooks, folded laundry and was smart enough to pull Stuffed Artichoke Soup and Blue Cheese and Chive Drop Biscuits out of the deep freezer, which, coupled with spinach salad, made a lovely dinner two nights running.
- I polished off Juli’s White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Butter in a single sitting. I only meant to try a spoonful or two and before I knew it, the jar was completely empty. No regrets, although the Hubby’s a little bitter he missed out. Oops; my bad.
- I finished my latest book, which turned out to be nothing like the lighthearted read I thought it would be. I should have known better with Jodi Picoult. Nevertheless, it was fantastic.
- I hosted my mother and niece for the weekend.
- We snuck in a quick and easy lunch at the house before hitting up the Cleveland Museum of Art for the exhibition Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse. I’m not exactly a museum kind of gal (I swear in one picture the very biblical Eve was clutching a pair of sweaty gym socks; the Hubby disagrees), but this was pretty impressive.
- We made our way to Light Up Lakewood for the tree lighting and fireworks show before heading to Namaste India Garden, one of my favorite local restaurants.
- We had a delicious breakfast on Sunday morning, which involved Apple Pie Pancakes, Parmesan Roasted Sweet Potatoes, bacon and fresh fruit.
- We went for a walk through the neighborhood before my mom and niece hit the road and headed back to Buffalo.
- I had a FaceTime date with my sister from a different mister. Lord, I wish this woman lived closer.
- I spent my last remaining hours on Sunday evening recuperating on the couch in front of a fire.
My goal is to have a little bit more of that last one in my life this week. Wish me luck.
Your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?

I’d say that’s a very productive week! Congrats on the presentation and anatomy scan. I have such strong memories of each of those ultrasounds 🙂 also love that picture of your tree – warm fuzzy 🙂

I love sitting by the tree with Christmas carols on and a cup of coffee or tea. It’s self soothing.

I am so glad for you that the baby is doing well! Ultrasounds freak me out. Not in a bad way but I think it’s stunning how perfectly well you can see through half of a body. I get regular ones to check up on my organs and I find it fascinating. The sticky gel all over my abdomen not so much….
And congratulations on the work presentation! Though if I read something about working 50h again next week I might have to have a word with you (insert stern look here!) Get you a place in front of your cozy fire, cuddle the cats and let other people do the work. It’s a once in a lifetime chance 😉
I love love love that you spooned the nutbutter in a single sitting. I am always a bit worried if people actually like my stuff but there’s no better way to make me beleieve it 😀

I ate all of the granola too, each in single sittings. The Hubby didn’t get a morsel of that either. Oops.
I know, I know I’m trying to work less and smarter by delegating more. The work is simply too much this time of year. Alas, I shall be better this week. I promise.
Having too pee three times during the appointment meant I got recovered in sticky goo over and over again.

Juli@1000lovelythings says
hahaha you know that I gave you two bags of granola and Arman got only one 😀 let’s just pretend that was because ‘you’re eating for two’
I hear you on the work. It’s easy to say ‘work less’ and sometimes it’s just not possible even when you try! Just take care of you!

It sounds like you are a fabulous host! I mean, apple pie pancakes, bacon, fruit, and roasted potatoes?! It sounds like a delicious breakfast.
I love the holiday scene with the tree and presents. I haven’t even started wrapping yet…

Breakfast is my favorite meal to host.
I usually don’t have my gifts wrapped either this time of year, so I am definitely celebrating this success.

Meghan,
Your week sounds lovely because so much hassle is in the Past Tense–with plenty of fireside to look forward to. Rule #3 and all.
I feel like I shopped, baked, and photographed all week long. Today is Day #1 of HashtagChristmasWeek and I am sharing a whopping 6 recipes for Christmas-themed treats all week long. I’m delighted to say all recipes are made & photographed, and many of them left my house on a plate without going into my belly.
Yes, of course I am eating–but I don’t need to eat ALL THE THINGS. I’ve been enjoying a nightly cup of Spiked Hot Cocoa, though. That stuff rocks.
I also managed to get the outside of the house decorated during a sunny day, volunteered with the band fruit fundraiser twice, barked at the kids to get them to decorate the “trees”, and got to FaceTime with my spouse for the first time since he deployed. It was a good birthday.
Have a lovely week with plenty of fireside–and don’t forget to enter, I’d be delighted if you won.

Wow, you were an animal last week, although I suspect the best part was facetiming with the spouse. Happy Birthday!!
P.S. Feel free to send a plate of cookies my way. I am all about eating all the things, or at least most of the things. 🙂

So glad you balanced out those 50 hours of work with some gift wrapping and family visit time. Heck you probably even learned something at that museum thing. Huge congrats on demolishing your work presentation and on the ultrasound!! Definitely support your goal for a little more of that fireplace action this week. Your feet deserve to be up!

I love Jodi Picoult but I definitely cry almost every time. I really want to make macadamia nut butter now if it’s that good you ate it all 🙂 Good job on getting ahead of present wrapping. I bought most of my stuff…but I still gotta make them and wrap them all pretty. Have a great week!
Meghan says
Yes, you should absolutely make the White Chocolate Macadamia Butter. It was out of this world amazing. Do it!!

I haven’t even started my list yet. Ah crap. I’ll do it though, I promise. Hey have you ever read Jennifer Weiner? “Good in Bed” is hilaaaarious. I usually like thinky books and these are just empty calories, but they’re….different than the other brainless reads. She’s a gifted writer. I also love love love “Fat Girl Walking” (not by Weiner, it’s some famous person I can’t remember her name). It’s a biography and I have never laughed harder and more often while reading any book in my life.

I’m impressed with everything you accomplished this week, but the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Butter take down might be the best one of all. Second only to your killer brunch setup.
The museum sounded fun. I’m not big on museums either but recently went to the Museum of Modern Art for their Picasso sculpture exhibition and it was awesome.
Meghan says
Picasso would be a pretty cool exhibit.
One day, you and I will brunch with mimosas and jars of nut butter.

I love you for putting a moustache on your baby’s ultrasound. And for several other reasons as well <3 I haven't wrapped any of mine yet, but I -did- manage to get some of my Christmas shopping done, which is a big time win in my books. I don't usually start until the week before Christmas, so the fact that I knocked some of it out is pretty much a miracle. And I got a bunch of my decorations up as well, although not the tree yet. I'm slacking with that one.

That exhibition followed by fireworks sounds like the perfect winter activity to me!
Gosh those baby pics are amazing! I still can’t comprehend the idea that it’s growing inside of you! But that’s me and my ‘pregnancy scares the hell out of me’ feelings! Haha!
And big brownie points from me for all your gift buying and wrapping! I’m normally there by this point in December but I don’t know what’s happened to me here in Australia, think the heat is messing with me!

One upon a time, I used to have all the holiday stuff done well ahead of schedule. Not so much the past few years so this feels fantastic, although I definitely still have wrapping to do and a few more presents to pick up. I also need to switch gears to the holidays cards and baked goods for the neighbors. It’s another annual tradition we love to uphold.
I’m sure it’s gotta be strange trying to get festive in the middle of summer. 🙂
