Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.
Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
It’s no secret this pregnancy has been kicking my non-ass ass without actually giving me the benefits of a pert backside. The Unborn Child’s ba-donkey-donk is doing just fine though and generally lodged somewhere in the vicinity of my right rib. I swear she’s monkeying around in there and begging for bananas. Clearly she takes after her momma. Oh crap, that’d be me.
Instead of throwing a pity party for one or lamenting in my lack of productivity outside of the office, I wanted to spend some time and focus on the positive stuff; ya know, the glitter, the sparkle, the pomp and circumstance, or in the words of Ren & Stimpy: the Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy. Maybe I can even toss in some rainbow spewing unicorns for kicks.
There that’s better.
Let’s get listing:
Gelato. I inhaled two pints in three days. Need I say more? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Bubble Baths. What can I say? The bathtub is my sweet spot, not to be confused with G spot. It’s also one of the few places I truly feel comfortable these days.
Fresh flowers. Who can resist a little sunshine in floral form? Certainly not me, especially when they come from the bestest of friends.
Books. One of the perks of being fairly incapacitated is rekindling my affair with all things literary. It’s quite lovely to read for pleasure.
Or simply for laughs, which means dirty Limericks are making today’s cut. Remind me to hide this particular manuscript from the Babe when she arrives.
Fancy Chocolates which I refused to let the Hubby eat until I snapped a picture, three days later. That man has the patience of a saint.
Last week, I celebrated my birthday in a much more responsible way than in years past (read, sober) and I was the guest of honor at not one, but two baby showers. It’s safe to say, the outpouring of love and support from friends, family and coworkers made me feel all kinds of warm and fuzzy. It also made my inner diva, also know as Elton John, want to break into song. ♫ Can you feel the love tonight. ♫
Hmm, now might be a good time to start brushing up on Disney flicks.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?
Juli @1000lovelythings says
aaaah Meg, this is fantastic! I am so glad you had a great birthdy and two baby showers, that’s amazing!
Two pints of ice cream – I am impressed!
Your post made me smile and by that just made my day a little happier 🙂

Happy belated birthday! I hope you enjoyed every last sip of that prego punch and (love) drunkinly belted to the lion king sound track in one of your baths. Or is that my passtime?
Those berries are enough to put a smile on anyone’s day.

Singing in the shower is perfectly acceptable, so why no the tub? Makes perfect sense to me.

Hahaha prego punch is perfect! It looks so refreshing too! I used to love that punch at family reunions of Hawaian Punch, ginger ale and sherbet floating on top. I probably drank my days worth of calories and then some with that addicting drink 🙂 no regrets, it made me happy!

Thankfully I don’t have any set caloric count for my days. I just eat and sometimes drink (although not so much lately) and it’s magical.

Way to stay positive even when you’re not feeling so hot. That’s not an easy thing!
That baby on your baby shower cake is kinda creepy–not gonna lie. (Looks like an awesome party, though, otherwise! Glad to hear your family and co-workers have been so supportive.)

Isn’t it awesome that God made flowers? And I respect so deeply every mama that sacrifices her time and love for carrying precious babies inside of them for 9 months. <333 You take such pretty pictures Meghan!! This is my first time doing the Week In Review, and boy, it's really fun!

Meghan,
Way to put a smile on my face (and remind me of Isaac Asimov’s limerick book, I am sure I hid it from the kids over a decade and 4 houses ago, who knows where it is).
The shower decor and food all look lovely–my compliments to your hostesses.
I am happy because the past 3 blood pressure readings I’ve taken, last night and this morning, have been in the . . . dare I type it . . . pretty damn good range. Perhaps 12 days of meds + 9 days with any caffeine are working some mojo. I admit I really miss my Iced Chai and if I decide to drink decaf black tea I’m making a decaf version of it for an afternoon boost, but I’m pleasantly surprised that replacing my morning Lady Grey & Cream habit with a cup some Zinger is not the horrid switch I’d been imagining. I am utterly spent by evening, non-productive at all unless I have to take my firstborn to school at 9:45 pm so he can embark on a band trip over Spring Break. The resulting . . . anxiety? Adrenaline? Cold air while standing outside talking to other parents? Whatever, the result of something caused me to be up and productive until nearly midnight the other night, so perhaps there’s hope for a life without caffeine.
Have a lovely week!

Fantastic news on the blood pressure readings and the chance of a positive life or at least a wide awake one without caffeine. It’s still a struggle for me, and I’m just on a reduced regimen. 🙂 Maybe we should just switch to booze? 🙂

Hi Meghan! Two showers? Lucky gal! Happy belated birthday! And I bet the bathtub is your happy place. I haven’t taken a bath in forever, even though I do have a tub. You’ve got me thinking I should hop in there. Here’s to a great week, and as always, thanks for hosting the link-up!

You guys crack me up with those Baby Shower. They do not exist in Switzerland. Another reason to avoid this circumstance.
Love the tulips! So glad you got them on time.
Also, I want from that chocolate. I am sick in bed, so chocolate should be involved.

Holy cannoli, happy happy happy belated birthday!!! I keep missing all these birthdays, what’s up with that?! I’ve got nothing.
Anyhow thank you for reminding me how much I love Ren and Stimpy, and all things Animaniacs. Pinky and the Brain.
Gosh those chocolates look gorgeously fancy and delightful! I’m back on the chocolate wagon, not hugely but the other night I devoured a personal chocolate cheesecake that sent me to another universe. I say personal because I ate it all.. Not sorry.
Loving the bubble baths, can’t wait to break in our new tub next month 🙂

Two pints – well done and an early kick-off of ice cream season. The local parlor opened shortly ago but I haven’t been daring enough to get a scoop at the current temperatures. Also, I have no idea how to play chess but would totally use the board as a backdrop for pictures, too. It’s beautiful.
Two babyshowers – well deserved. The Unborn Child stole your chance of having a birthday drink or two after all. Baby showers aren’t a thing over here and my sister would have given me a serious stank eye had I tried to throw her one. I should have gotten her a rainbow spewing unicorn card after birth, though.
Happy Monday!

I love the fact that you are being showered with so much love! So well deserved!
I want to take you to the most amazing gelato store here in Perth – we went on Saturday and it’s simply heaven! I had naughty nonnas nougat – ricotta ice cream with honey and chunks of homemade nougat… I did not want it to end! David had a dark chocolate gelato that was rich and glossy and 70% of the total ingredients was simply cacao. Heaven!
Hooray for being happy – I also loved that it was national harmony day here in Australia.
