Week in Review: A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That (#82)

May 8, 2017 by Meghan 34 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Last week was a mish-mash of magicalness, with a side of baby. The more mundane version is we did all the things.

Let’s get listing:

Ave and I visited my old office. It was great to catch up with everyone and engage with other adults. It’s nice to know I’ll always have a home there, and it feels good to be wanted for my intellect because my super savvy ways are dedicated to blowing bubbles these days.

Speaking of carbonation, the Hubby and I went on a lunch date in the middle of the afternoon and I had a beer. Day drinking for the win. Oh and I also had salad, a grilled cheese, vegetarian chili and some of the Hubby’s french fries.

On Thursday, Ave hung with grandpa and grandma while I caught up with a bestie and her plethora of planners. I fully and happily blame her for my obsession.

On Friday, the tiny human stunned me with a three hour nap (Who is this kid?!) before we headed off to Buffalo to visit with my family. Road trip shenanigans.

We went out for breakfast on Saturday morning and again I opted for liquid calories in addition to my meal.

We also headed up to the hospital to welcome the newest addition to the family, baby Sophia. I brought her a batch of homemade granola and box of Breadsmith’s baked goods. You need to love carbs in this family.

And because I believe in balance, I ransacked the edible fruit basket for all the kale.

On that note, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Yay hubby date. That salad looks unreal. And now I want a mimosa. Welcome to Sophia!! Looks like Ave will have a little friend to get into shenanigans with soon. Maybe she’ll teach the baby how to have long naps, since she’s such a pro now apparently. I wish someone brought me cinnamon buns when I was born…

I’m assuming Ave’s going through a growth spurt and the long naps are temporary, but in the meantime, I’m soaking up the extra minutes, with mimosas and bread. 🙂

I haven’t let myself visit my old job in over two years. I think the call to come back would be too strong and I’d be signing a contract before I walked out the door. I loved it so much…my colleagues, my students, the administration, the atmosphere. Some day. P.S. I wish we had a Breadsmith’s.

It’s easy to wish for days of adulthood and intellectual conversations when you stay home with the kiddos. At the same time, if I was working I’d probably long for the days of hanging with Ave, bad naps and all. The grass is greener where you water it.

I’m jealous of all of your liquid calories. Today marks 7 days sober. That’s longer than I’ve gone without a glass of wine since my competition days. *white knuckles* The kicker is that I haven’t lost a single fucking pound. I know, I know…

I love a day date that includes day drinking. I took a page out of Ave’s book and managed a random 2 hour nap myself this weekend. Haven’t done that in a while!

Also… those planners!! Your friend has quite the glorious collection!

Doing all the -awesome- things you should have said. This week sounds so much more peaceful – sleep issues sorted out?! – and fun for you than some of the previous ones which makes me super happy. Let the trend continue!
Sophie/Sophia was one of the names I used to wish my parents had given me instead of mine – we’ve made peace by now – so the little girl is already off to a good start in this world in that regard. Also with those glorious baked goods because what the mama eats the baby does in a way, too, no ;)?

That’s exactly right. The baby will get those baked goods in one form or another. It’s kind of cool to realize our breast milk changes every single time based on what we’ve been eating. Neat right?

Congrats to you and the Hubby. I know how difficult that was and how much easier life will be now that it’s done.

Oo!I freely admit to having a h u g e obscession with baby wrist wrinkles and Ave has the perfect specimen! I am just guessing but I think she may even have a slight double if we were able to see just a wee bit farther on up her arm? It who is counting!

Those wonderful extended napping surprises! Though I always felt slightly cheated when they happened over-the-road, when I would much rather have had the time at home for making a mad dash cleaning run, or a zen reading and tea time. But sometimes you gotta grab whatever end of the shoe the horse presents and go with it!

It is a sweetheart of deal on husbands to get one who shares fries! Mine does too, he lets me have all that I want first, before he even digs in! Looks like we both lucked out! (or schemed well!)

Also, I forgot to “A little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That” makes for what could have been a boring, mundane week, a week full of variety and interesting things! If ever you order the same lunch again and find yourself too full for the grilled cheese, I’m happy to help ya out with that. No, really, I will! Pack er up, stuffed in a bubble wrap envelope, and mail to me here. It’s cheese, right, it ages, cheese never spoils! Never! I DO carve off the mold, because it’s totally legal as long as it’s not on cream cheese, but, to completely honest when backed into a corner…

Be…to BE completely honest! I am dyslexic y’all and skipping words; even doubling them up is actually actually (like that) very a common symptom with dyslexia. Even with scanning to check what I just wrote before I ‘reply’, I don’t see the omission/extra words until It’s too late.

Confession: I scrape the bits of mold off too and carry on as usual. You can’t waste that stuff. Plus, mold is practically penicillin right? Ha!

Ave’s wrist wrinkles used to be even more prominent, and to think I was worried about her weight gain in the beginning. These days, she has a little pot belly and four cheeks. 🙂

She’s still napping like a champ (I took a 3 hour nap yesterday too – HOORAY) so it must be a growth spurt or something. Either way, I’ll take it.
