Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
I’m pulling a page from the Brits’ book today and talking about the weather. Normally I’m not one for small talk, but I have to make an exception because it has been nothing short of amazing here. Seriously, if I could roll myself up in one of those fluffy clouds while soaking up the sunshine and reading a great book, I would. I’d invite Oscar and Sam to join me too; maybe even the kid and the Hubby.
Suffice to say, it’s been sunny, in the mid-seventies (24 degrees Celsius) with a hint of a breeze that gently caresses your face. As a result, we’ve been outside a lot; like a lot, a lot.
Let’s get listing:
On Memorial Day, we stuck to tradition and joined friends and family for breakfast in the park. It’s always a good time. We spent the evening dining outdoors with the in-laws, and some of us took it up a notch and ate dessert in our birthday suits (cough, Ave, cough).
Tuesday we found ourselves back at the Zoo, this time with grandma and grandpa in tow. I’m pretty sure Ave is more fascinated by the balls in the animal cages than the actual animals. She did like the elephant, the one made out of duct tape.
Wednesday we laid low at the house so we (namely me) could recharge our social batteries. I wrote my post for this Asparagus and Asiago Strata and I even managed to get my hair cut; all of them in fact.
On Thursday, I had lunch with my in-laws before leaving the tiny human there for the afternoon. I spent my free time grocery shopping, reading, napping and cleaning the house. It was magical, minus the whole smashing my knee into the door frame and limping all day. Thankfully, I’m mostly recovered now.
Friday, the tiny dictator and I soaked up the sunshine at Crocker Park’s splash pad. The price was right (i.e. free) and the temperature was perfect. Ave dabbled in the water a bit, but reserved the majority of her energy for trying new snacks; mostly pretzels, including the ones the other kids dropped on the ground. She’s a scavenger.
(If you look super closely, you can see some hair.)
Saturday was banana shorts busy. We hit up the local park for the Big Trucks event. There was music, dancing, bounce house, raffles, and of course all kinds of giant motorized vehicles.
The tiny tot took home a prize for winning the limbo contest. Granted, she was the shortest participant by far. Afterward, Ave napped for almost two hours before we hit the road again, this time for a five year old birthday party.
(“I’ll show you how to limbo.”)
Sunday we kept it chill with baked goods, gardening and an evening adventure to the library.
Speaking of gardens, I harvested my first batch of spinach.
Other notables, I started and finished two books: The Litigators by John Grisham and The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins. Both were quick, enjoyable and easy reads.
Last but certainly not least, after saying I was going to refinish our antique dresser for at least ten years now, I scheduled an appointment for a specialist to pick it up and get the job done.
Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
What a busy week! Glad you are having some warmer and nicer weather and getting to enjoy time outside with Ave!

It was so busy yet so gratifying at the same time. Great weather makes a huge difference with little ones.

Ave’s watermelon outfit is the BEE’S KNEES!!! She is getting cuter by the minute! We had the twins THIRD birthday party this weekend which threatened rain but held off for the perfect setting for a water park. I bought three kiddie pools and a sprinkler at the Dollar Store, invited their new friends from Mother’s Day Out and let them go to town. Popsicles and cupcakes were eaten and everyone still went to bed on time, because as you and I agree…bedtime is sacred. P.S. You’re making me miss my garden. I didn’t plant one this year.

Last year my garden was pitiful. I planted it but harvested nothing. This year, it’s early so I’m still hopeful. Plus I’m a little more determined and Ave is a touch more manageable. Crap, why did I just say that? Hold on, let me go knock on some wood.
OK back to the comment: the twins’ birthday party sounds absolutely perfect from the outdoor water fun to the cupcakes to the regular bedtime. And you got to speak with other adults. Yep, that’s an ideal day.

Oooo soon you’ll be getting Ave’s hair cut along with yours! All of them, times two!
What a ridiculously fun week and weekend. Definitely for Ave but hopefully for all you adults as well. Your last point, scheduling that appointment for the dresser, must feel SO good. I love those feelings of getting something huggggely long standing finally done. Also, you are a book reading machine. Hope you have another good one this week!

It does feel amazing to get the dresser business out of the way, and interestingly enough, I never would have done it if we hadn’t rearranged our bedroom the week prior on the spur of the moment. Funny how that works out…
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
Glad to hear the weather there is better than grey and rainy like it was over the weekend here.
Ave’s watermelon outfit!!!!! ADORABLE.
Look at you. Harvesting and eating your own spinach. That sandwich looks delish by the way.
I loved Girl on the Train! Also just finished her second book. But Girl on the Train was better in my opinion.

I should get some kale this week and broccoli too from the garden. I’m excited.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
I may be the only one ‘here’ who believes this (old, old school!) but scavenger kids have the best immune systems. I only drew the line at sidewalk gum….when I was fast enough.
Your posts are one of the bright spots in my day!
This weather!!!! I also am a glowingly white Welsh person for whom the addition of sunscreen simply illuminates me. I only look as though I never see the light of day, but I too am soaking this in!
I am reading a really easy sweet book taking place in my time called What We Keep. Elizabeth Berg is new to me with one. Perfect shady porch reading with my iced matcha latte!
I’m looking for Aves dotty gemmy shoes in my size!
An easy sweet book in the porch shade with an iced matcha latte sounds absolutely divine. Ahhh, the dog days of summer.
Also you are not wrong with the scavenger business. In fact, they have science to back it up now. Too much antibacterial nonsense isn’t really great for kids or adults even. Kills the good germs as well as the bad.
Her gemmy shoes are from a friend in Germany so you might have trouble finding them here.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
Well I doubt I would’ve found those shoes in my size anyway, drat! And I never fell for that antibacterial business in the 80’s when everyone suddenly became germaphobes and everything was practically steril. I like clean, to be sure! But soap and water please. I use to find it frustrating to hardly be able to buy a regular plain old soap! Cleaning products, I pretty much used household vinegar and such because it fit our budget. Now it the ‘thing’ lol!
I was ‘hip’ and didn’t know it.
You’re still hip in my book. 🙂
Hi Meghan! Yay for glorious weather and some free time for you! It’s been getting a little hot here, so the weather is the topic of conversation ahaha. As are the Golden State Warriors … 🙂

Warriors, scmorriers. 🙂 Did you know we’re actually preforming better against the Warriors this year than last at two games in…by three points, but who’s counting.
Have a great week and make sure to stay home on Wednesday. No watch parties or anything, ya little good luck charm.

I might have to steal the phrase “banana shorts busy” from you. That’s fantastic.
I think beautiful weather is worth raving about. It’s been beautiful here too–I went on a bike ride yesterday morning that was absolutely *perfect* weather-wise.
Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar recently posted…Health at Every Size Is for Everyone
I’ve been trying not to use the word crazy because of the mental implications so banana shorts is my new go to.
Bike rides are the best. I hope you’re having a wonderful summer thus far.

Ahhh you had a great week! I love John Grisham. I’m still in the middle of reading like, umm… 3 books. I keep waiting for my body to give out on me so when I stop running, I’ll start reading. Getting my WIR together soon! I’ll put it up in a bit. <3

You run as long as you can momma. There will be plenty of time later for reading. Granted you’ll probably be tired but that’s OK.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
High five and double snaps on that dresser. I love delegating and getting stuff off that list. I’m such a fair weather person so if we had weather like that I’d be outside all day everyday as well. Despite our higher temps we did some outdoor park play a few times last week. After dinner the weather is almost tolerable so we try to let the tiny human get out some if that post dinner energy. We also hit up our first splash pad yesterday after a bday lunch and this was also Lulus first time wearing an actual bathing suit. My mom got it for her and I must say it’s pretty darn cute. My brother arrived last Tuesday and it’s been grand to have him here. Time is going too quickly of course. Lulus first birthday is approaching hung and Nicholas will be here to celebrate. Family and friends at my moms house. They have a big yard so we throw on the sprinklers if it’s not raining. Definitely a bathing suit day 🙂
I’m so glad your brother is in town right now. That’s awesome. It’s always good to have family around.
Lulu’s first birthday party sounds perfect. I wish we could be there to celebrate with you guys. We’ll be sending love and hugs.

Good lord you did a lot! Ave better have taken like 10 naps after all that. Especially the wild topless picnic (I like her style, btw).
That watermelon outfit cracked me up on IG, and again here. The hat makes it.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table recently posted…Yet Another ACL Tear + WIAW
Actually she did nap pretty decently last week. Thank god for small favors. It was a really busy week but I understand why moms do all the things with kids. You gotta find a way to kill time between naps and tire the tiny human out.
We need adult watermelon outfits.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
Free splash pad (or anything, let’s be honest) are the best! Also, Ave’s watermelon outfit is adorable. My daughter is already starting to deny cute outfits for her brother’s outgrown clothes. It was fun while it lasted. Haha!
Heather recently posted…Bearded Dragons and BBQ!
We actually don’t have many shorts or skirts for Ave and it’s been too hot for pants, so I’ve been letting her run around in a onesie and nothing else. I’m that mom and I could give two shits. 🙂
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
Haha, yeah, there are days hair doesn’t get combed and my kids go to school in their pajamas because I don’t care to fight the battle otherwise. They’re comfy and happy, so pfft. 🙂

I feel like we have similar parenting styles. It’s why we get on so well.
The weather affects my mood a lot, so I completely get the awesomeness of clear, sunny days. Scavenging is an invaluable skill, but maybe Ave is just getting a head start on a zero waste lifestyle. Either way, I commend her. Aren’t veggies from your own garden 1000x more exciting than ones from the grocery store? I feel like a proud mama when I harvest my own veggies.
Girl on a Train has been on my reading list for awhile. It looks interesting. I want to see the movie too, but I also don’t want to see the movie because movies based on books are usually super disappointing. Eh, it’s a struggle.
I’m going to have to see the movie now, but I wanted to read the book first.
Veggies grown yourself are soooo much better. I’ll be harvesting kale and broccoli this week. Woot, woot.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
What a great week! The Limbo look is to funny! Babies make the best faces. Why do we lose that when we grow up. Everyone should wear there emotions on there face like babies do.

There’s a lot of things we lose when we get older that I wish we would keep: imagination, innocence, playfulness…
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: How About That Weather (#86)
Ok that is super cool that you are growing spinach in your own garden. I didn’t really do a garden this year, but I’ve been enjoying seeing other people’s gardens thriving.
And I had to smile when you called Ave the tiny dictator. 😀

She’s my favorite tiny dictator but a dictator nonetheless.
I harvested broccoli from the garden today. I’m gonna cook it up for tonight’s dinner. Squeal.
Every single time you post, and I see her bubbly face, I just gush. I know you know I’m not one to fabricate, and I tell it like it is (the joy and curse of wearing my heart on my sleeve) and I JUST DIE AT HER. I’ve legit not seen a cuter tiny dictator in a LONG time. I say the same thing in all my comments, but for real. She slays me.
