Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
For our usual shenanigans, Ave and I had a library play date one date and a pool play date another. We get around.
We also went to the Lakewood Summer Arts festival on Saturday, not once, but twice; a little pre and post nap action. We ate all the food and made merry.
At the same place, my mother and I also engaged in little retail therapy (cough, a lot, cough). There was even some not pictured Christmas presents purchased; yeah that’s right, I’ve started on holiday shopping in August. Cracks knuckles.
We also made out way to Memphis Kiddie Park for Sunday evening shenanigans. Planes, trains and automobiles were involved.
In medical news, I fought off a random neck and shoulder injury, and I took my poor puss to the vet for an injection of fluids, antibiotics and steroids. Of course, the big ticket item goes to the Hubby, who had scheduled knee surgery on Friday morning. While he was undergoing the knife, I managed to read half a book, eat all my snacks, and spill my coffee all over the waiting room chairs. Doh.
Honorable mention goes to his rehab buddy, Laura, who also had knee surgery on the same day. We’ve been in constant communication as the two compare war wounds; she wins, by the way.
As far as edibles go, I had a delicious breakfast out on Monday, sans baby. I met up with some old friends at Jack Flaps and the company was as awesome as the food, which is saying a lot. I will definitely go back to this restaurant again; hopefully sooner rather than later.
I also got supper jiggy with my CSA plowing through summer produce like a professional; a professional eater that is.
Despite the medical issues and some midnight jam sessions with the baby, it was a pretty fabulous week.
It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.
Glad all the medical stuff went smoothly (minus the coffee)! As much as we love jammin with our babes, I hope you can keep that to the daytime this week! And the food. THE. FOOD. Mmmmm.

I’m hoping we can keep the jam sessions to the daytime this week too. Fingers crossed.

I loved be that little dress for Ave with the poppies on it! I will just shop vicariously through you. Although I did buy a cute herb holder at the farmer’s market (I’ve already killed the rosemary…how?!).

You’ll appreciate it. Ave has wonderful new clothes and my underwear has holes in it…and I mean big, gaping holes, not just a tiny tear that recently happened.
Rosemary can be tough to kill…maybe not enough sun or water. The good news is it’ll come back if you keep tending the soil, although it might not be until next year. 🙂

It looks like a fabulous week, and I love your positive attitude about it. It’s always so good to see the blessings in a week, not focusing on the hard parts.
Emily recently posted…Week In Review: Healing, Hope, Running, Vacations
It’s easier to focus on the good bits. Plus when you step back and look at the grand scheme of things, you realize this life is pretty good.

It’s amazing the energy you have when noshing so healthily! Go gardening and CSA! All the food looks fab, inclooding those grilled summer peaches and cheese! YaY for summer too! I love summer ❤️.
Hoping for a speedy recovery for hubs, you, and kitty! And for Ave’s sticky molars to slip on through right quick!
Gardening! Forgot to say, mine is just popping! Can hardly keep up with the eggplants, grape tomatoes, and of course, zucchini. Loving though that they all are fab companions on the grill and need not more than some a little (or a lot!) of lovely flavorful oil, and some chunky fresh mozzarella!
This is fabulous news about your garden. I’m so glad it’s providing fruitful. It’s just really amazing right being able to eat something you grew with your own hands.

Ohhh I hope your hubby’s recovery is going well. I remember when Jason had his ACL surgery… I had a babysitter watching my 3 kids while I took him to the hospital and when we got home, and Jason was all drugged up and I was helping him up the stairs, the babysitter told me that she thinks Jake broke his arm. AGAIN. So I had to call my mom and ask her to bring Jake to the hospital and sure enough, it was broken. Always SO MUCH DRAMA.
K..side note… does Ave like Annie’s bunny cheddar crackers? I bought them once and they were kinda bland.
Suzy recently posted…Mileage Monday
She does love the Annie’s cheddar bunnies but since she’s never had Cheez Its she doesn’t realize what she’s missing.
Two kids on the mend under the same roof…Oi.

Normally I love winning, but I’d like to pass on this one. I thought today it would be better… but no. I started the morning with tears streaming down my face on the way back from the toilet. JESUS.
At least I have cute Ave videos to entertain me. And Vegas, of course.

Your use of abundant CSA goodies is most definitely professional, in my eyes anyway. The cucumber tomato salad looks incredible. Glad you got to enjoy retail therapy and get a head start on Christmas presents. I’m wishing your hubby and his knee a speedy recovery.

The Hubby is feeling much better already and we’re only a week out so hooray for quick recoveries.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
You had a heck of a week. Glad to hear that everyone is recovering!
Nothing wrong with Christmas shopping in August either. I was actually just thinking that I should start getting on that and especially keep my eye out for any sales. It’s so hard with kids because as they get older their preferences change so quickly and I generally have to wait until the last minute… much like with Halloween costumes as they can never quite seem to nail down who they want to be until right before. Ha!
Heather recently posted…Week In Review – Date Night Edition
I can totally see that with the little ones. To be honest, we’ll probably buy Ave next to nothing since I’m pretty sure our family will spoil her rotten. 🙂
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
Goodness those last photos have me salivating–grilled peaches in a caprese? Yum!
I had to pick up feta because I’m jonesing for the layered hummus action, and on a whim tossed the uneaten grilled eggplant into the food processor for a hummus/baba ghanoush mash up.
My accomplishments include a cooking demo at the Ohio state fair and harvesting volunteer blue potatoes. Not sure which one I’m more proud of, to be honest.
Kirsten recently posted…Lemony Beet and Lentil Salad
I think you deserve huge kudos for both of those things, although I happen to be a huge fan of the award winning potatoes. You are my hero.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
Hope everyone has a smooth recovery from the medical issues! Relatedly, how did you convince the cat to submit to being rolled in a towel?
I need to emulate your CSA skills. We have probably half a box left and get another in 2 days and we’ll be gone this weekend….might be time to start canning.
Actually it was the vet tech who put the cat in a towel. No way I could have gotten away with that.
Last week was a good week for getting through the CSA. I’m hoping I’m as lucky this week, especially now that my garden is kicking out much of the same things that are coming in my share. 🙂

Sending the hubs all the fast-recovery wishes I can!! I see Oscar is all set to hold down the fort while pops is out of commission.
I hope you keep going on your kitchen cooking time. And your retail therapy. You can say both things are to benefit others…right? Totally selfless.
Cora recently posted…Intuitive Movement: The Excitement in Finding New Ways to Exercise (Week In Review)
That’s right. Retail therapy is completely selfless….minus of course my new earrings and produce pottery bowl. I’m a sucker for beautiful cookware.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
I seriously love Abe’s face of sheer glee in that mini plane. It’s looks like that that melt my heart. No skeep? Who cares just give me all the baby grins.
Ok I’m floored and amazed at your Christmas shopping action. Damn girl you got some mad skillzzzz! I’m just trying to keep up with my rapidly growing munchkin. I went from buying size 3 to size 4 diapers in a fortnight. What???!!! Not kidding.
In good news the yeast diaper rash is starting to say its goodbyes. Waves and golf claps and my middle finger.
What? She’s in size 4. Go LuluBelle. We’re still rocking the threes and I think it’s going to stay that way for awhile.
Hooray for diaper rash disappearing. Did you ever find out the culprit?

Hope the hubs is doing ok and that your neck is back to behaving itself.
I am with you on starting the christmas shopping early. Takes so long to ship everything (unless you want to spend a small fortune) so it’s gotta be done. But I don’t mind – shopping for gifts makes me happy. Shopping for myself… that’s another matter!
All about your CSA veggie love right now – no wonder Ave loves her food with having you as a mum!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape recently posted…Friday Favourites + Episode 38 of the Chase the Red Grape Podcast
Ave actually eats better and more foods than I eat. Ha. She’s such a funny little thing although beans are hands down her absolute favorite.
I like using art festivals as an opportunity to holiday shop. I get to support local artisans and start knocking off the Christmas lists early. It’s a win all around.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
Haha Ave looks like she had fun, especially compared to the last time 🙂 I have to confess that I watched her happy video maybe 10 times by now! To die for!
Hope your neck/shoulder is back to normal again. Both Stefan and I had terrible neck pain last week as well. That’s no fun. And I hope your hubby’s knee is getting better soon.
I am impressed you started your Christmas shopping already. Christmas feels like an eterity away but as always it will come much faster than anticipated 😉 I see myself giving away a lot of gift cards this year though.
Juli@1000lovelythings recently posted…Week in Review – Things that didn’t suck last week
There’s nothing wrong with a little gift card action, especially if it makes the holidays more enjoyable….ya know, which is kind of the whole point, as opposed to these stressful celebrations.
Both the Hubby and I are recovering well, thank goodness because we’ve been super busy this week.
I’m obsessed with the happy video too. Glad I’m not alone.

Okay, those peaches look fantastic. I live in Parker County, which is KNOWN for its peaches (and its Peach Festival), and I’ve never had grilled peaches. I should get on that….
Misti recently posted…week in review: Not a thousand words
Ahhh, I’m so jealous your county has a peach festival. I’m obsessed with them right now. I want to put them on a pizza next.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
I need to try peaches that way! My grandmother starts christmas shopping in the summer. It annoys me because she will ask me if I like stuff, buy it, and say I have to forget about it because its my christmas gift.
Patrick@looneyforfood.com recently posted…Cauliflower Cherry and Walnut Salad
I’m with you. I like to be surprised by my Christmas presents. I don’t want to know what’s coming.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: Meals, Medical Issues and Retail Therapy (#94)
Way to own the holidays! I mentioned in my WIR too that I wanted to be more on top of my Christmas gifts at this point in the year. Took a step and got a spreadsheet going for who to buy for, how much to spend & all the ideas.
Looks like Ave is still digging those rides. Hope the hubs makes an uneventful recovery from surgery!
Way to go on getting ready for holiday shopping. I’m impressed. Anything to make the actual holidays less stressful and more enjoyable right?!
Hubs is doing well. Thanks for the speedy recovery vibes.
