Get you pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
We visited the local library for “Baby and Me” story time. It’s the first class we’ve been to in months, and Ave ran to the reading room quicker than a zombie to brains.
We also ran a bunch of errands like grocery shopping and trips to Breadsmith for free samples, er…I mean loaves of bread and balls of pizza dough.
I signed the tiny dictator up for swimming lessons at our gym, and her first class was last week. She was beyond excited. Her and the Hubby blew bubbles, sang silly songs, kicked their legs, and floated on their backs, while I swam laps a few lanes over. She’s been asking for ‘more pool’ ever since.
Ave went to music class another day, while I got my teeth cleaned and chastised for my lack of flossing. Truth be told, I confessed to my nefarious ways the moment I walked in, so they went easy on me. I puffy heart my dentist.
Ave and I had multiple play dates last week. We met some friends at an open gym session, where Ave got to do one of her favorite things: shoot hoops. Unfortunately, she was enamored with all the balls and didn’t want any other kids to touch them. Oi.
We hung out with Ave’s bestie another night, one of the few people she will willingly share her toys with, and only sometimes. We’re a work in progress over here; single baby syndrome for sure.
When we weren’t partying like rock stars, we hibernated by the fireplace. Based on her desire to have a fire always and add “more wood” constantly, I’m convinced she’s a pyromaniac. I’m gonna have to keep a close eye on this one. We already knew that though.
For my part, I did a variety of work outs last week, including some sweat sessions on the elliptical in our basement, swimming and weight lifting while binge watching season two of Stranger Things. I’d describe the latter as a little bit Stand By Me with a side of Stephen King’s It and Fire Starter, all to the Pretty In Pink soundtrack. Needless to say, I’m a fan.
As far as cooking goes, I made a batch of sweet and salty trail mix granola. It was as good as I remember, maybe even better. I substituted leftover smashed up crackers for the seeds, and it worked wonderfully. I like any recipe you can tinker and tool with for the better.
I wrote a post about surviving the eighteen month sleep regression, where I referenced the male anatomy three times in the first few sentences. What can I say? It’s a gift.
I also did some recipe testing (stay tuned) and picture taking, in the snow because I’m hardcore or perhaps just foolish.
Last not least, I was thrilled to have my post on postpartum depression shared on the She in the CLE blog.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.
Cora says
You are the master at many things, but multitasking both Ave’s and your needs at the same time is definitely at the top. Getting your own laps in while she (and hubby) learn to swim…. getting your pearly whites did while Ave gets her jam on…. and then getting your sweat on while catching up on necessary TV. You seriously impress. Yay for all the movement this week, the cooking, and a huge huge congratulations on having your writing shared with more of the world. This makes me so thrilled. The world needs more of it.
Now I’m off to memorize how you make granola. <3 to you.

I was a multi-tasking machine wasn’t I? Hmm, interesting I didn’t realize it until you pointed it out.
I’m here for any and all granola questions.

Hey hey! Congrats on having your post shared!
I’ve heard good things about Stranger Things. Right now, though, I’ve gotta get through Jessica Jones. So good.
I never would have thought to add crackers to granola. Love your creativity!

Creativity or simply a desire to use up what was in the pantry….either way, it works. 🙂

Um, smashed up crackers in granola is genius! I have to try that. And I’m ready for the recipe containing those greens, too.

The beans and greens recipe will be up next week…hopefully that is. 😉

I haven’t had time to respond, but between you saying “we all need more D” and quoting Ave’s “Oh boy, more wood!” in your voice message, I was dying laughing.

“oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. More wood.O

Love that you are swimming and recipe testing

I’d like to say Ave would share her toys with you, but the odds are not in your favor. Sorry my friend.
I love that I’m swimming and recipe testing again. Gotta shake things up.

Wow what a busy week, I think it’s so awesome you’re able to do so many things with Ave like swimming, gym time, and play dates. She’s definitely one active girl. And I hate taking photos in the winter! Everything just looks so much better when taken outside and it’s freezing. I always say I’m going to invest in one of those natural light things, not sure what they’re called….

I’ve tried to play around with light boxes but have never seemed to get it quite right. I’d rather brave the cold. Unfortunately, there’s only a few good hours in the day right now for photos. Spring can’t get here soon enough.

Looks like you guys had a pretty busy week in the best way possible! Ave’s posing and her pyromania tendencies crack me up 🙂
How awesome that you found time to work out, cook and even take pictures. Hardcore, definitely hardcore 😉
You inspire me to do a little bit more blogging. When you can find the time my reasons not to do it are mere excuses! I need to write a recipe post. But at the moment all I want to do is taking the pictures ;-P

Ave’s swimsuit pose is killing me. And then the look on her face when she’s sitting by the fire… You’ve definitely got yourself quite a big little character there. And holy snap you’ve been busy. I have no idea how you’re able to pack so much stiff into your week, but Ave is definitely a lucky girl to be able to experience so many things so early!

We do all the things because otherwise I’d lose my mind playing in the house all day with blocks, books and stuffed animals. The activities help break it up and the play dates are as much for me to have adult interaction as it is for Ave to have a friend.

you seriously nailed the description of Stranger Things. I loved it, we binge watched the 2 seasons recently… around Halloween actually! I remember seeing all the Stranger Things costumes and not getting it, until we finished the season 1 and I was like… oh, yeah. haha!
swimming classes for Ave!!! how fun! we just finished gymnastics and I decided to try a dance class and Little Gym which is like Gymboree but more musical. she liked the Little Gym and will now go once a week for class then can go for open practice once or twice. I’m pleased with her activities right now. Also, she loves art!! the Children’s Museum has art classes for tots as well so our nanny will take her to those. I’m so grateful to have someone in our life that takes such good care of our little babe, and has a true desire to help her foster her talents and curiosities.
We are learning how to draw circles and I gotta tell ya, she’s a champ!
Meghan says
I can’t believe we have to wait another year for season three of Stranger Things. Gah!!
Ave loves the pool so the swimming classes are more for fun than actual learning. She’s having a blast. We’ll have to try an art class next. That’s a great idea.
My in-laws are the equivalent to your nanny. We are so blessed.

Ave has the best social/ active life. I’m so jealous! Not to mention the down time with a fire. She just knows where it’s at!
Loved seeing your beans and greens on Insta using bok choi- love that veggie and its so underused. Why should kale get all the green glory! 😛

I loved your post on She in the CLE. It was so poignant and I could feel the words you spoke. You’ve come a long way, and will be a huge help for moms that follow in a similar path. I adore you. I also adore Ave, I just can’t. Like I say this every damn time I comment, but it’s because your kid makes me question who I am. I don’t like kids…I can’t…BUT AVE gives me LIFE. I love her.
