Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week was a tough one. Ave went from Miss. Independent to Little Miss. Cling to Mom (sung to the beat of the Spin Doctors song). You know how I always attribute my fragile grip on sanity to my in-laws who harbor the tiny human on Monday and Thursdays. Yeah well, she refused to go to their place, so instead of repeating, “it’s just a phase” over and over again from the fetal position, I’m focusing on the positives of the past seven days.
Let’s get listing:
I’m grateful for cooler weather and comfort food. We went from running the AC one day to heating the house the next. In my former life, I would have layered up and toughened it out without turning on the furnace, but kids soften you; usually for the better. Although come to think of it, my dad always kept the house at a chilly 65 (18 Celsius). Hmm; either way, I was happy for the Fall weather and the vegetable pot pies that followed.
Speaking of the weather, we had out first indoor fire of the season, and I’m almost certain, the tiny dictator is a pyromaniac. Mental note: hide the matches.
(Ave is inspecting my work. I’m pretty sure she’s Union.)
I’m forever grateful for nap time, which is still my favorite time. She’s so peaceful and non-argumentative when she’s sleeping.
I’m grateful for evenings out with some fabulous foodies while getting a sneak peak at The South Side’s new fall menu. Try the pasta; you won’t regret it.
(I wanted seconds and thirds of this dish.)
I’m grateful for double chocolate zucchini muffins.
I’m grateful for lots and lots of play dates with moms and little ones alike. In addition to family, this is our village, and we couldn’t survive happily without them.
Last but certainly not least, I’m grateful for Juli’s white chocolate macadamia nut butter which arrived at my house on Saturday, and I am now hoarding like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. I’m obsessed in a stalker, probably gonna need a restraining order type of way.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.

Listing things you are grateful for is a wonderful way to maintain sanity. I have found it to be even more effective than a shot of bourbon. And way more socially acceptable at 10:00 in the a.m. Your tiny dictator is so adorable when she is sleeping. And when she’s awake. I love the picture of her with her arm around her friend!
And, yes, hide the matches!

My tiny dictator is especially cute when she sleeps through the night, which she has decided is no longer a necessity. Oy.

Any woman who can focus on gratitude in times like these is a queen. And any blog that can proudly include the words “rectum explodes” will be one I forever respect. You’re the best,
Keep trucking. Gather up all the comfort food, call up any help you can get, and spend as much time by that fire as you can. Just maybe stay a foot in-between it and Ave. <3 <3
PS your hair is looking bomb.

Thanks lovely. I;m digging this hair cut too. It’s easy and yet I still get to keep some of my curls.
Now to take a nap…maybe in front of the fire.

I love your honesty in all things life, both the sweet and stinky! And I also love your talent for finding just the right words for sharing all of those unpredictable ups and downs that smack motherhood right in the face with us. (Along with some really fantastic recipes)

Thanks Grandma Lala. I’m not one for sugar coating things, unless it’s candied nuts. 🙂

Thank goodness for naptime! I hope the clingy phase phases out soon.

You and me both. Right now, it’s still going strong though AND it’s all about mom, no dad allowed. Sigh.

Must have been so nice to light up the fire again. So comforting and calm… Especially if Ave has been Miss Cling all week. Hopefully this week Ave will be happy staying with the in laws so you can get some time to yourself.
Your pot pie looked delicious. I have a massive thing for pastry….

No dice yet. The in-laws came here yesterday so at least I was able to get some things done, although I’m dying for some solo time. Hopefully on Thursday. Fingers crossed. Until then, there’s fires.

I’m so grateful for your honesty about parenting. Maybe some day I will be. But for now, thank you for being real. Ps hide the matches indeed. Haha reminds me of bevis and Butthead “haha ..Fire.”

I’m probably terrifying all new parents to be everywhere. My blog is like birth control. 🙂

Definitely grateful for all the warm and cozy foods. Even if I hate the cold weather with a passion, I will embrace it just for the stews, soups, and the freshly baked goods.
Hope Ave hasn’t been giving you too much trouble. 🙂

Soups are my favorite. I could eat them every single night for dinner, with a side of biscuits of course.
Ave is always giving me trouble, but she’s still fantastic.
