Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week was another wild one. On the plus side, we got the tiny human’s sleep sorted out. We had a serious chat about why middle of the night parties are overrated, and we swapped out her bedding for a heavier fleece blanket. Since then, it’s been pure bliss. Translation: she’s back to 11 straight hours of sleep. While I like to think our talk helped, I’m pretty sure the warmer blanket is the reason for our restful nights.
On the flip side, this happened:
(I’d like to tell you, “You should see the other guy,” but our single back stair looks no worse for the wear. Sigh).
Fortunately, my ankle is not broken, but it’s not pretty either. I suspect torn ligaments, but I’ll find out for sure at the ortho doc later this week. Right now, I can walk with the boot or with crutches, but not on my actual foot, which makes my mostly horizontal week no surprise.
Let’s get listing:
I did a lot of lounging, while other people entertained the tiny dictator. Thank you grandparents galore.
(Oscar kept me company. He’s so thoughtful.)
I easily plowed through an entire season of Orange is the New Black and made a serious dent in my latest book. Reading is fun.
I iced my ankle often, because I am a model patient and it was sore after standing on it (with the boot on) and cooking for hours. What? A girl’s gotta eat.
(Kale salad from The Root Cafe with roasted sweet potatoes, carrots, turnips, and walnuts and blue cheese.)
Speaking of food, I had a lot of take out and even indulged myself with a trip to Mad Mac’s, a restaurant devoted to mac and cheese. Be still my carb loving heart.
(Two thumbs up: one from me and one from Ave.)
Despite my injury, the tiny human and I managed to sneak in a play date on Friday morning and a visit to Play Grounds Cafe on Saturday to celebrate their one year anniversary. Shenanigans and balloon animals were had by all.
I shared a recipe for the world’s easiest vegetable pot pie, which I’m already planning on remaking for dinner tonight.
Most importantly though, I finally got my City Hippie website up and running. It’s still a work in progress but you can check it out here: city-hippie.com. Feel free to buy a shitton of granola; momma’s gotta pay for physical therapy.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What did you accomplish last week? Ever tear any ligaments?
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
oh no! I hope you are ok!
Meghan says
You and me both. It’s getting a bit better although I suspect I’ll be in this boot for a while. Sigh.

I hope you heal quick! Until then milk it for all it’s worth. Lol
Meghan says
I’d like to but Ave doesn’t really understand that concept. Or even the concept of mommy being hurt. 🙂

Oh, no! Poor you!!! Hope that ankle heals quickly. Although…having a valid reason to lounge, read, watch Netflix, and eat mac & cheese takeout does not sound too bad! 🙂

Those things are all lovely and I’m trying to appreciate the moment while I can.

Oh no!! I hope your leg heals quickly! I broke my foot in the winter years ago and snow and crutches were a challenge (my phone wanted to autocorrect that to snow and crotches).

Snow and crotches would be funnier, although I can’t imagine trying to hobble around on actual crutches in the ice and snow. Let’s hope I’m all recovered by then.

Noooooooo. I read your comment last week and I think I was hoping I had dreamt it. So not fun! I twisted my ankle every month in high school so I know… crutches suck.
But hey on the plus I’m glad you got a chance to really put a dent in your book and couch. I agree with Patrick… might as well milk it.
Yay for getting ave’s sleep figured out. Most importantly though- what was your favorite mac and cheese??

My favorite was the one with Brie; it was a subtly sweet mac n cheese and so very different than the norm. You can’t go wrong with any mac n cheese though.
Doctor’s appointment tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me.

hello!!!! oye vey your poor foot/ankle/body. ouch! wearing a boot is no fun but better than crutches? i thought so. i’ll be wishing you speedy recovery. i’m actually at md anderson right now getting my testing done for my surgery on wednesday. yes these 3 years have been a whirlwind of denial. i’ve been trying to ignore my nice 3.2cm tumor and now i am finally facing it. my lovely thyroid will be 3.2cm lighter on wednesday which also happens to be halloween. so thankful for my mom who will happily take Lulu trick or treating because honestly that is really all that matters. i’m not sure what my recovery will be like but will find out today and have very high hopes. i’m ready to move on with my life 🙂 and i’m looking forward to browsing through your website!
Meghan says
Oh wow, I’m sad and glad you’re getting that taken care of love. Please, please let me know if you need anything. Ave and I are here for you and Lulu Belle.

Ouch!! I hope you are free of the boot soon. Meanwhile, horizontal is the way to be. Although I totally understand making an exception for cooking – I was in a boot last Thanksgiving and obviously I crutched around the kitchen for the sake of pie.
Meghan says
I have to eat right?! Food is sustenance and all that. 🙂

When life serves up a tray of lemons, have others serve you a tray of lemon scones! I truly hope you are on the mend soon, and nothing is more serious than some strained ligaments.
The kitty prolly pushed off that last step so he could finally get his fair share of lap time!
I have already visited the granola website! Would you believe that I 8 batches of the double chocolate for my junior college granddaughter who has such a loaded schedule this year that she’s already dropped too many LBS. it’s her favorite. We bagged them up into single portions with dried cranberries and off she went. So thank you for keeping my our girl nutritiously provided for! She was thrilled with with my parting gift.
I haven’t tried either of the flavors that are up on your site but intend to! So consider my order done by the end of the week. Happy reading, keep us up to date on that ankle. Sprains can be more a pain than an actual break!
Meghan says
It wouldn’t surprise me if Oscar sabotaged me. Him and Ave have been having some turf wars over mom’s lap.
I’m so thrilled you made the double chocolate granola for your grand daughter. What a thoughtful and tasty gift!!
Thank you for all your support and kind comments; they mean the world to me.

Hope the ankle is okay soon again. I’ve torn ligaments before and it bloody hurts! I feel with you! But on the plus side riding that scooter thing looked like a lot of fun!
Yay for the new website 🙂 I am so excited for you <3
Meghan says
The scooter was amazing. I could have ridden that thing all day. In fact, I may go back to that store, solely for the scooter ride. Hashtag totally legit.

I’m so glad you got the sleep sorted out, and hopefully it’s still working well. If you had to cope with your ankle and a cranky tired little girl I think that may have been the final straw!
That Mac and cheese is always a good idea. Damn its been far too long since I had some… Need to get on that!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
So excited for your granola ventures!!!
Bummer (<– understatement) about the ankle though. PRP!
Kaylee says
Ooof. What happened??! Glad your ankle isn’t broken though.
Gosh that salad looks so darn good.
Congrats again on City Hippie!

Just a misstep, quite literally. Thankfully, it’s almost fully healed now.
Thank you.
