Week in Review: Skinny Dipping, Bracelets and High School Reunions (#48)

September 12, 2016 by Meghan 37 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

Week In Review Button Final

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

I was lucky enough to have Lucie with me for the first half the week.

Lucie & Meg - Summer 2016 - Cleveland

We fully intended to go kayaking, but since the place was sold out, we opted to do a little day drinking instead with a side of bruschetta to soak up all the booze.

day-drinking-moscow-mulebruschetta

One afternoon, we had a photo shoot at the beach, where I might have gone for a quick dip in the lake…in my underwear. I was glad I wore matching skivvies that day, although I did have to stuff my nursing pads in Lucie’s camera bag. My leading lady on the other hand was smart enough to wear her bathing suit, yet she didn’t actually go swimming. How’s that for irony?

path-to-edgewater-beach(The path to the beach.)

We had multiple Sex and the City viewing parties, which we rounded out with a classic movie, Dead Poet’s Society. I cannot believe how young Ethan Hawke and Robin Williams are in this flick.

I went to Nature’s Bin and The Breadsmith multiple times. Lucie and I treated the sample plate at the latter like a free for all. I also hit up Whole Foods so I could use an almost expired gift card. Apparently I’m a fan of grocery stores, and we all know I love my carbs.

Breadsmith Brioche Nut Twirl

Speaking of my spirit animal, I made a batch of Banana Peach Oat muffins.

banana-peach-oat-muffins

I also got my hair cut; all of them in fact.

I vacuumed out the car…on Friday night while the baby supervised.

ave-september-2016(“Hey you guys,” she says in her best Sloth from Goonies voice.)

I also embraced my inner child and started making bracelets. Mock me all you want (I totally would), but I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Who knows, maybe I’ll start a new trend like adult coloring.

On the other end of the spectrum, I cleaned a bunch of rooms in the homestead, and I did mountains of laundry. I’m pretty sure I washed the sheets for every bed in the house, except ours. I’m not sure how that happened, but I plan to rectify it this week.

I paid bills and reconciled our bank accounts.

Lists and Paying Bills

Over the weekend, the Hubby, the babe, and I all road tripped to Buffalo to attend family dinner. There were lots of things to eat, including a giant vat of garlicky beans and greens and yet somehow I only managed to photograph the mashed potatoes swimming in a pool of butter. Imagine that (licks lips; spud love baby, spud love).

mashed-potatoes-family-dinner-september-2016

Last but certainly not least, I had a blast at my 20 year high school reunion. God I’m old. And on that note…

It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

That first picture totally proves your age statement wrong. And rumor has it watching Sex and the City keeps you young 😉 – at heart in the least.
Bad blogger me I forgot to comment on your previous week(s) in review but it looks like you had the best time with Laura and Lucie. Jealous.
No mockery at all for the bracelet-making. They’re about fostering relationships after all, no? Though I think I’ll stick with adult colouring books because I have two left hands [though as a left-handed person I think this phrase is kind of rude 😉 …].
Those peach muffins … mmmh. Also: how cute is your baking pan???! Not as adorable as Miss Ave, though. There’s a lack of baby pictures in this post – just saying.

The lack of baby pictures is because I have a post fraught with them coming…in fact, I posted it today.

I think (or at least I hope) I’ll always be young at heart. 🙂

I’m glad you’re back in the WIR. I’ve missed having you around.

I used to love making those string bracelets! I still have the string in the house as if my son would have liked to do it too during camp over the years but it never happened. I got him to do lanyard for a bit though! boys aren’t the same as us girls. I lived for string and lanyard bracelets!

I was obsessed with making those bracelets! Recently, we had a bunch of yarn at work (so random) and was able to brush up on our skills one day during our downtime. When I was younger, I always wore one on my ankle. When plans fall through, day drinking is always a great backup plan.

See with all that silly adulating – bills, laundry, bed sheets etc – we more than deserve to embrace our inner child. Its absolutely necessary, I think. Making those bracelets would also be very therapeutic and mindful. I could never get on the crochet or knitting train for very long, but this I could see myself getting back in to. Hmmm….
Glad you had some scandal this week… with your beach swimming and twirly nuts and pools of butter and all.

Yum all the carbs please! Why is bread so so good?!? And those bracelets are too funny, def loved making them as a kid. I’m a teacher and a few years ago kids were using these little rubber bands to make bracelets, I had to ask them to stop making them in the middle of class. lol

If I knew how to make string bracelets I totally would! I’m so I know my kids and younger grandkiddos do tho, so I could trade lessons in crochet pot holders! Having not made any in a few years, and mine disappear after my laugh at them and my quirky vintage color choices, the do go somewhere and they aren’t here, LOL! Pretty sure I’ve raised four thieves. Of pot holders. I failed to teach them to aim high!

Anyway, that’s my whole list. I bought some cotton yarn in fun vintage colors to go with my vintage (outdated) kitchen and have been crocheting my fingers numb. Once I start it becomes an obsession. No one eats a real meal, our favorite cloths lay in the hamper. When I get onto something, I’m on it and only it.

Your life is bustling in busyness in comparison and more fun, obviously! I hope you take a few minutes here and there to catch a breath, pat yourself on the back for getting things done (and not), between your ancticts. Or, maybe I’m just so long past my youth that I have forgotten the boundless energy the I had with a kidlet and so much mischievousness!

Ha! Love the nod to the peach! You know I have peach on the brain…
And thank-you for your brilliant posts. Such a bright spot.

After I took Lucie to the airport on Wednesday morning, I made it a point to spend the afternoon and evening doing absolutely nothing outside of taking care of the kiddo. When she slept, I slept, read or lounged on the couch and watched tv . It was lovely and allowed me to recharge my batteries. It’s so important to make time for that, at least for me anyway.

I’d probably swipe a pot holder too. 🙂

I love the name Lucie! I often get mistaken for Lucy (it sounds like Suzy). Bruschetta is the BEST thing to soak up booze. Meghan, I wish so much that I’d look good with my hair like yours. You suit it so much. Your face and cheekbones and sparkly eyes stand out–you’re gorgeous. No, I’m not drunk. Okay so I didn’t do a Week in Review this time because I have to do a marathon recap, but I’ll do it next week. Do I get a spanking?

Sloth!! Sloth love Chunk. I think Sloth is my spirit animal. What an amazing week yiu had!! My tiny nugget who is not feeling so tiny anymore, well she’s been on a sleep strike and likes to remind us we are her bitches. I totally didn’t think I’d be that overly sensitive and emo mom but I am. That mom. The one that wants to do it all myself. It’s hard accepting help even when I have it. Learning to figure this all out is my daily fun 😉
The bracelets are so cool, of course I love anything colorful and creative. Skinny dipping sounds fun, actually the idea of swimming in general just sounds so nice. I wanna float in water and feel in utero again!!

The sleep strikes are so tough. I remember them a little too well. Getting help is the best thing whether it’s from a nanny or a grandparent. Use those resources; it’ll make you stronger in the end, I promise.

I want to float in water too. I look forward to the day I can button my pants again too and not use a rubber band to keep them on.

Im’ so jealous I missed the end of the Lucie trip… and Breadsmith. You know she can’t come to Italy now?! We will meet in France in March… I think you should come. The bracelets would be all the rage in Paris. Fun fact: I used to make and sell them in middle school. I had boxes and boxes of yarn. It was serious business.

HOW did you end up swimming and Lucie didn’t?! She’s practically half fish!

As in I don’t know anyone who’s ever had one. But one can always hope, eh?! And your mention of SATC binges makes me think of TO, although I don’t know if it counts as a binge if we only made it through like… 3 episodes 😆 And I promise not to mock your bracelet making as long as you don’t mock my video game playing.
