Week in Review: Tots, Salads, and Wine (#38)

July 4, 2016 by Meghan 28 Comments

Happy Independence Day!

In light of the holiday, the link up will be open an extra day this week, until early Wednesday morning.

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

Week In Review Button Final

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

I published two blog posts, which is a minor miracle for me these days, especially when you consider a day in my life with a newborn.

I ordered a new goose down mattress topper since ours exploded, and sadly not for the reason you’d expect. Bow chick-a-wow-wow.

Feather Explosion

I went for two runs last week, and I tacked an extra mile on my first run. Boom.

I took Ave into the office for another meet and greet with my coworkers. She was a huge hit.

I had a lunch date with one of my besties, and I don’t mean the tater tots, although those were equally awesome.

Tater Tots at Burntwood Tavern

I paid bills and balanced our checkbooks. Yes, I still reconcile checkbooks, which should be no surprise since I work with numbers for a living.

I went to my weekly lactation support group.

I picked up some new nursing bras; the kind that actually support my ladies. Hey now.

Boobs

(Thanks Laura for the image.)

I caught up on my BlogLovin feed.

I folded more mountains of laundry.

I let Ave sleep on me for almost two hours on Tuesday night since it was the only way we could get her down for her nap.

Ave Sleeping in Meg's Lap

There’s nothing like being trapped under a sleeping baby with a full bladder and an empty stomach. Thankfully, the Hubby made me breakfast for dinner. He’s a keeper.

I got my hair cut, all of them in fact.

I weeded the flower beds while the tiny human supervised, also known as cracked the whip.

Ave in the Front Yard

I bathed the baby multiple times with the Hubby’s help.

I spent fourteen hours nursing Ave.

I went to Nature’s Bin more than once, mainly for groceries but also to drink: Five for Friday food and wine pairing for the win. I’m already looking forward to next month’s beer tasting.

Last but certainly not least, I tackled our CSA produce with more salads and my favorite beet juice smoothie. If all goes smoothly, I might even have some recipes coming soon. Cross those fingers for me.

It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Oh man that “Five dollar Friday” deal is amazing. I’ve really wanted to start getting more into “pairing” – for my own tasting pleasure and because I find it interesting. That Nature Bin place of yours really sounds like a gold mine.
Huge yay for getting in those runs, getting yourself a hair cut and getting in some social friend time. Really happy you are keeping these self care commitments for yourself. Happy Independence Day!!

Nature’s Bin is a gold mine. It’s one of my happy places and the five dollar Friday deal is only $4 if you bring back your class, which I totally do. Winner, winner.

Happy 4th of July Meg! Thanks again for hosting the link up. You know, I usually forget about this holiday until the night either before or after when I hear loud banging outside from the fireworks. I worked all week but on my days off I took myself out on a date. Relaxing was what I accomplished and I’m proud!

Happy 4th of July my American friend- hope your day is somewhat (if not totally) relaxing!! I was down with the flu last week so let’s just say my productivity extended to catching up on some R & R- never a bad thing!! Nature’s Bin sounds great- drooling at the sound of vegan baked beans (haha could I sound any more British ;))!

The vegan baked beans were fantastic, although I think the vegan shredded barbeque seitan might have been my favorite.

      I’m glad you’re feeling better.

You know what surprises me? Is that you work with numbers for a living but you’ve got such an artistic gift too. Usually people are one or the other, right? That beet smoothie picture is gorgeous and honestly, I would frame it and hang it in my kitchen. Which reminds me, I still haven’t developed that beer pic I took last year! Is it possible to get that beet juice pic from you somehow and then I can get it developed? How cool would that be?!! I could hang it in the kitchen with my beer pic! I really need to get on this. Our house is so bare and boring.

Long comment. Sorry. I missed you! I MISSED THE INTERNETS! I’m on an internet bender right now.

Absolutely, I’d be happy to send you the beet picture AND you definitely need to frame that beer one.

Welcome home. I’m glad you’re back. I missed you too.

We have been breaking our own records in the Smith house left and right. Last night she cluster fed for 3 hours then slept for 3.5 hours. My little machine. I can’t be surprised I suppose, natural endurance athlete. Sleep counts as a sport in my book!!
We have our first doctor appt tomorrow. Fingers crossed! At least I know she’s been pooping and peeing plenty. The important things.

That smoothie looks beautiful! Colours like that just make me go yum! Then again I am a beet fiend!
Ave really does look like she is cracking the whip on you there! I love a good weeding session though, there is something so relaxing about pulling weeds out. My mum used to give me into trouble when I was younger and went weeding as I, more often than not, pulled out plants that weren’t weeds! In my defence if they are green and have no flowers they might as well be weeds…. Reason number 94 that I am not a gardener…!

Here’s the part where I ask how you managed to blow up the mattress topper if it’s not what I expect. Was it Oscar? Rapscallion. And you know what I think? That you should make this two-a-week blog post thing a regular thing. 3 a week if you really love me 😉

And damn, those tater tots! I couldn’t eat them for several years after overdoing it on them in first year university, but now my love is back strong. I bet that restaurant version knocks the frozen ones out of the park though!
