Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I survived my first real week of teething, which translates to middle of the night nursing sessions, along with some bipolar behavior during the day. One second she’s smiling and laughing, the next she’s whining and fussing.
I took my furry felines to the vet. They were way overdue for their annual shots and Samantha (the sick one) is now on steroids. I intend to sign her up for a gym membership next week and pump her full of protein shakes. Beefcake.
Over the course of the week, the babe and I hit up story time at the local library, Whole Foods, and grandma and grandpa’s house for a rousing round of rebellious play.
Speaking of rebellions, the Hubby and I managed to see Rogue One in theaters on Friday night. We went all out and gorged ourselves on processed popcorn and peanut M&Ms. It was magical, and I only checked my phone a zillion times to make sure the baby was sleeping peacefully.
Ave had a play date with one of her buddies. They’re both into balls right now. Its all the rage these days in Baby Land.
I paid bills, did our finances, and I went through and cleaned out my email box. The last one was a huge accomplishment since I had unanswered emails going back to mid-December. Gulp.
I did piles upon piles of laundry and I even manage to fold the clean clothes from the week before. Winning.
I did some behind the scenes blog work, published a Currently post, and submitted Mothers Wanted: Apply Within to Scary Mommy. Here’s hoping…
I tackled yet another kitchen drawer in my ongoing purging project. It’s still giving my all the feels.
Last but not least, the Hubby and I watched a handful of episodes of The Wire, complete with a cozy fire on Saturday night. I know this show is incredibly old (it came out in 2002), but man it’s good; definitely worth watching if you missed it the first time around.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
Luce@FitSwissChick says
I see my room there! Gosh, how I want to come back. Even if that means getting up at 5 so I can join the latest morning class at Birdtown CF. Sigh.
You are a machine. Look at all you managed to check off the list. As for myself, I was working 90% of the time and got in a couple fo trainings until I vomitted into my saladbowl about 20 times all Saturday. Sorry for the details. It was lovely.
Happy new week!

You just ruined salads for me. 😉
Come back. CrossFit Birdtown misses you…or at least I do.

Woooooo congrats on that email box clean out! That one feels SOO good. Maybe even better than organized kitchen drawers? But you can be the judge of that. Also congrats on the laundry folding and scratching a new TV show off the list. I know all those things make me feel hella productive.
So glad you and the hubs got out for a good solid date and that you had your phone at the ready to keep you comfy(ish). I didn’t like Rogue One – okay I was just bitter because I wanted my regular characters to be there – but the popcorn and M&Ms would make any movie a successful outing.

My problem with Rogue One is everybody dies. I still liked it though. 🙂
It’s a toss up between the email box and the kitchen purge. I’m actually hoping to finish the latter this week. I still have a handful more cabinets and drawers to go.

ugh teething, not fun! hopefully she gets all the teeth at once so the fussiness can end. my son had all his teeth at like 14 months ( from what I remember, just not molars maybe?) so it packed the crankiness all in a short period lol

Right now she’s just working on two teeth, although it hasn’t been too horrible. We’ve had worse moments when she’s overtired. That being said, I hear the molars are rough so we still have that to look forward to. 😉

Meghan,
Good luck with Scary Mommy! I love reading the stuff on that and I think you write as well as if not better.
My darling son was born around Memorial Day and popped his first & second teeth before/after Labor Day when I was still deep in the trenches with blasters firing at me from all sides anyway. Oh, the joys. I feel for you.
I accomplished many posts–my How to Eat Local series is nearly done!

Thank you Kirsten. I’m hoping Scary Momma agrees with you and publishes one of my posts. Until then I’ll keep on trying.
Teething isn’t a lot of fun. I can’t imagine juggling that along with everything else.

high fives for movie night out, oh yeah baby!!!! we got to see Rogue One over the holidays when my brother was visiting. it was so nice to be able to do that all together, honestly i could have watched fishing and be happy. well, almost 😉
it’s hard not to check on the babies. i can’t help it either. whenever i leave and she’s with our beloved Eva, i always get pics. like right after i leave i get a pic of what she’s doing. one time i went 30 min without anything and almost freaked, but then realized it’s ok. she’s ok. i’m ok. we’re all OK. i need to find me some chill pills. have you heard about them? my husband always tells me to take a chill pill, but when i go shopping i can never find this product 😀
we survived Lunar New Feasting with Lulu, and she was amazing. she powered through a 2.5 hour meal and didn’t freak out. we were so happy we took her to a french restaurant the next night… we might have been pushing our luck but she was totally manageable. keep on pushing those little boundaries, gently… that’s what i’m gently trying to do. opening up my horizons, venturing out little by little. building up my mommy muscles.. yeah that’s right.

That’s exactly the way to do it….gentle nudge the boundaries. It’s good to push ourselves out of our comfort zone just a bit…baby steps right? Pun totally intended. 🙂

I’m taking my old man kitty to the vet tomorrow, for a “quality of life” check up. He’s doing ok, but I just worry. You go with your bad self with that popcorn and candy, sounds AWESOME! The movie however was MEH for me.

Teething just does not sound particularly fun. A few years ago, when my wisdom teeth were pushing through, I would have been a big nuisance to my poor mama If I had been living with her. Poor mamas.
Good luck on your Scary Mommy submission!
Glad you got out for a movie date. What did you think of Rogue One?

I liked Rogue One a lot. I thought it moved well, the actors were good. The ending wasn’t the best but it was also expected.

I think it mayyyyy just be the angle of the camera? But Ave’s friend is huuuuuuge! Ha ha! SO CUTE! My first two boys were like that. Jake was 30lb at 12 months old. No jokes.
I haven’t done a WIR yet. I can’t even remember last week. I’ll write something up though. I’ll figure it out.
I’ve never seen The Wire but Andrew and I need a new show to watch together so I’ll check it out. Canadian Netflix is anorexic compared to what you guys have down there so I don’t even know if we get it.
Suzy recently posted…Mileage Monday
Meghan says
The Wire is on Amazing Prime. It’s a cop show which means we can watch it together. We generally don’t see eye to eye on TV so this is a good one. The Hubby is not a fan of the Housewives of Every County. Can you believe it?!

Adorable baby play date! I loved Rogue One and really just love movie dates in general. We always overdue the popcorn and I feel like I’ll upchuck, but it doesn’t stop me from doing it every single time. Good luck on the Scary Mommy submission! One of these days it’ll happen!

We were relatively unproductive this weekend. Except Saturday – we went to a brunch to write post cards to our congresswomen. I am so beside myself right now… UGH.
I’m also going to start sending Scary Mommy postcards to accept your submissions.

David and I tried The Wire but just couldn’t get into it. Then again, when I think about it, we did try watching it what must of been 5 years ago now…. My taste/ interest level has defintiely changed since then! So maybe will give it another go. Watching Seinfeld for the first time right now and we are hooked, so good.
Glad you got to finally see Rouge One 😀

1. Yay for a date and going out for a movie!!!
2. Poor Ave, hope the teething passes soon! Those bi-polar bahavious sound familiar. Maybe I am teething, too ;-P
3. Also how adorable is she with her little buddy!
4. Ohhh poor Sam. Let’s hope steroids don’t affect cats like it does humans. I felt so shit on steroids.
5. Next time I make me a mule (probably tonight) I will pretend I am on a mule date with you. I miss you <3

Ok so I don’t remember how I found your blog… but your daughter’s play date buddy… I know him and his mom haha. I met her via prenatal yoga classes. He is such a big boy!
On the teething, yes we did all those middle of the night nursings too because that was the only thing that would make my daughter go back down quickly. When she turned 14 mo I said I had enough so we had to cut the middle of the night comfort nursing cold turkey. It’s been a month now and she does without it. But for many months (6 months if I’m counting!) I felt like it was what she needed. Hang in there!
We tried watching The Wire but my hubs didn’t like it. We are now watching Southland which is another cop drama. It came out in 2009. We really like it.

Ow, poor Ave. She’s early on growing teeths – or P. is late because that’s going on for him at the moment, too. The bummer was him feeling so poorly my sister had to cancel his first birthday party the day of.
Look at Ave and her little friend, though – so cute!
Fingers crossed both for Samantha feeling better soon – that gym’s waiting after all 😉 – and Scary Mommy accepting your post. If they don’t I’ll have to question their decision in regards to what’s quality content.

Some days start as early as four month with teeth!!! And they can pop up for a couple years so we’ve got awhile to go yet. 🙂 That stinks your sister had to cancel his first birthday party. :Life with a baby is never a dull moment. I’m hoping she can reschedule when he feels better.
Sam is doing so much better. The steroids have really made a difference and I’m happy she’s feeling like her old self again. Thanks for checking. Blows kiss.
