Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Is it any wonder the socialite edition corresponds with my sixty-ninth week in review. Hmm, something to ponder certainly. I suppose anyone engaging in that kind of activity is bound to be popular. In any event, last week was jam packed with activity and cake, mainly because we celebrated the Hubby’s birthday…on three different occasions.
Let’s get listing:
I did the usual grocery shopping trip times two, and I managed to pick up a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate frosting from Whole Foods. Ave picked it out; clearly she has good taste. It was so rich my teeth hurt just looking at it, which in no way stopped me from consuming it in mass quantities.
The Hubby and I went out with friends on Tuesday night to celebrate again. We opted to go high brow with beer and hotdogs because we’re fancy like that. It was a blast.
Not one to be left out of the shenanigans, we took the baby sledding one afternoon…in our front yard. After some initial hesitation, she decided it was a worthwhile endeavor.
Ave and I also hit up Baby and Me story time on Thursday and the in-laws house on Friday. What can I say? We get around.
One night, we made artichoke white bean and cheese dip for dinner and another night we threw together some oatmeal raisin cookies. The babe is fascinated with kitchen appliances.
Ave is a fan of the vacuum too which is partially why I did it a thousand times last week (cough, three times, cough). The tiny human has an eye for floor lint and the ability to get there now.
I continued with my kitchen cabinet purge, knocking off two sets of cabinets and two drawers, including the dreaded junk drawer. Dun, dun, dun.
I got my hairs cut, all of them.
I went serious and political on the blog, a rarity for me, with this post.
I took the Hubby out for a coffee date on Thursday afternoon. Some pastries decided to join us. This is my kind of swinging.
I hung with the ladies on Friday night. Snacks, sweets, and booze were involved.
The whole family spent Saturday afternoon at the in-laws celebrating the Hubby’s birthday yet again. We had loads of salad, veggie raviolis, meatballs and Italian bread for lunch followed by German chocolate cake and an off key rendition of happy birthday.
Saturday night, after Ave was sound asleep (minus the 3 a.m. wake up call), the Hubby and I got our cook on because we hosted a brunch at our house on Sunday.
We had fresh fruit, Parmesan roasted sweet potatoes, an asparagus and asiago strata (recipe coming soon), bacon, mimosa, and pastries. I’m salivating just thinking about it.
And on that note, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
hat are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
What a really lovely week!
Also 5 gold stars for your social life! From reading this alone I feel the need for a bit alone time 😉
P.S. Ave on the sled = my heart melts
I’ve got some alone time on the books tonight and tomorrow night. Now let’s hope Ave complies and sleeps. 🙂

Hi there, Nicki Boom Boom ;).
I wish I could have joined you and Miss over-the-top adorable Ave – that sledge picture <3 – for your past week's shenanigans. More socializing is a constant need for me and you really went all out in that area of life – it sounds amazing. Oh and happy belated birthday to the Hubby! I'm happy for you enjoying family and friend time as a new mum still – not always easy from what I hear.
(Also: that hot dog menu reads a little crazy – to a German at least. Froot Loops?? Spaghetti O's or Mac 'n cheese on top of the sausage? Wow …)
Happy Monday!

Garman or not, that hotdog menu is a little crazy. The last time I was there, I went with the Mac & Cheese on mine. 🙂

Oh my gawwdddd what a week! All that amazing food!! You sure know how to treat a man to a birthday – what a lucky guy. You also sure know how to pick a cake and hold a damn epic brunch.
Congrats on getting in another date with the hubby this week, getting in time with the ladies and time in the kitchen, and for what looks like a organi-gasmic job with the drawers. Shivers.
Also – I’ve never heard of a fancy hot dog place like that. That’s amazing!
Cora recently posted…Week In Review: A Week of Rehearsal, Quiche and Calming
It was a pretty epic week. This week is going to be tame in comparison, and I’m totally alright with that, especially since Ave is on tooth number three!!
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
Okay, first of all I want you to cook for me. Secondly, I’ve had that cake from Whole Foods and it is teeth-achingly dreamy and thirdly, I love your copper backsplash in your kitchen (your clean cabinets look pretty good too…mine look like the leaning Tower of Pisa if it were trapped in a cupboard).
Jamie recently posted…When Life Totals You
The cabinets I haven’t touched yet have the leaning Tower of Pisa vibe so I feel ya. Also, you are welcome over anytime. If you entertain the baby, I can cook up a storm or at least some eggs and sweet potatoes. We can score the cake at Whole Foods.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
What a week of productivity- you seriously are a rockstar mom! To raise a kid and put up a brunch spread like that is applaudable! Random side note but have you tried the hazelnut flavoured coffee at Panera? I had it when I was in NYC last year and couldn’t get enough of it!!
Khushboo recently posted…Clearing up my acne
The Hubby was a huge help with brunch, which means he entertained the child so I could cook. 🙂
I haven’t tried the hazelnut flavored coffee there, but I will now.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
German chocolate cake??!!! GERMAN?! Now I really feel offended. ALmost like when the Hubby bought Swiss cheese when I was there and it didn’t really taste at all. 🙂
And I would like to see a picture of that White Beer Cheese Fondue. It sounds amazing.
I picture myself right now in yout cozy warm kitchen together with you and Ave, cooking, baking cookies, drinking bacon mimosas (that’s what I first read when you talked about the brunch stuff) and chatting. Sigh.

You are welcome back anytime. In fact, the sooner the better because I miss my Swiss gal.

O<G where do I start, so much yummy food! Hosting a brunch is so fun, we haven't done that in awhile. And THAT CAKE! It would maybe last a day in our house because of our love for chocolate and mouse!

I love hosting brunch. It’s such an easy meal to put together, plus you can have mimosas. 🙂

my oh my, your brows are just my kind of high. beers and hotdogs, yummy. of course my hubby would disagree but i’m sure he could have fries. good beer goes a long way in our union.
ok that hat, too cute. i love her smile, i can’t help but smile when i see it! what a cutie patootie. you’re livin the life my friend!!!! i love it. Lulu does not like the vaccum cleaner right now but who knows, anything’s possible. i suspect when she’s able to do things on 2 feet she’ll wanna vacuum. at least that’s my plan… muwahhahah.
danielle recently posted…WIR sleep less play more
Ave likes it when I wear her and vacuum. She’s fascinated with it…it might be the sound, which would explain her interest in the food processor, the blender and the hand mixer.
The hotdog place also has tater tots. Maybe those would be Hubby approved and definitely good beer.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
Whoa… you really DID get around last week! I am seriously impressed. I loved the snap where Ave was eating carpet lint. Ha ha! I laughed so hard. She looks so adorable in that sled! So you guys got lots of snow? We got inundated with the white stuff. It’s the most it has snowed here in years. Totally cramping my running style.
My WIR is going up in a couple hours. xo
Suzy recently posted…Mileage Monday
Her lint radar game is on point. I’m pretty sure I’ve never vacuumed this much in my life and still she finds it.
We got a ton of snow last Monday and Tuesday and 85% of it has already melted. The rest will go tomorrow because it’s going to be pretty warm here.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
I need to make that artichoke and bean dip for dinner one night! I also purged out my kitchen over the weekend – it’s been an ongoing project for the past month or so, but it feels so much better!
The kitchen purge feels sooooo good. I can’t wait to finish (maybe this week) and then start on the closets. I’m on a roll. 🙂
Yum. I am salivating looking at all the yummy food consumed this past week. Ave clearly has excellent taste when it comes to cakes. I always start looking at real estate closer to the city when it’s time for date night and there is nothing close by that sounds remotely as good as that hot dog place. Haha!
Heather recently posted…Week In Review – Well hello there, February
Happy Dog is good and a lot of fun. The backside of the menu is tater tots and another list of toppings and sauces. Yum!
Those oats sure look tasty… 😉 I heart you. I also heart chocolate cake. I’d have eaten both renditions, in one sitting.
We should join forces for our spouses’ birthday one year. Mostly because I want to kick back and eat cake with you though.

I think this is a genius idea. Cake for all.
Laawwwdd Meghan, the sweets in here are killing me. I need that cake, oh man my mouth waters at the thought and the sight of it. HAAAH. I am getting my hairs cut tomorrow, all of them. My first “re cut” since chopping it off. It’s been two months and man does it feel shaggy now. Crazy how fast it grows when your this aware of it.

Oh yes last week was filled with sweets. My teeth ache. I’m trying to combat it all with lots of salads. #Balance
The hotdog topping options at that restaurant are insane! Froot Loops really?! LOL.
Happy birthday to J!

The other side of the menu us tater tots with more insane topping options.

You have been a busy socialite this week. Happy belated birthday to your Hubby–any occasion that calls for cake is a good occasion. 😉
Like Ave, I, too, find kitchen appliances fascinating. The difference (unfortunate for me) is that I have a wallet and the constant temptation to buy more of them. 😛 Unlike Ave, I do not like sledding. But boy–that little pink snowsuit and hat are the cutest thing!
Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar recently posted…Chai Pudding (Gluten-Free, Lactose-Free, Low-FODMAP)
Whenever cake is involved, I’m a happy camper.
It’s funny, Ave despised the snowsuit although once we got outside and on the sled, she was all good with it. To be totally honest, I think she’d rather run around naked most days, although I keep her clothed because winter. 🙂
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
Belated happy birthday to him! Y’all are lucky to have each other.
Two forms of chocolate cake in a week??! Nothing can top that. Okay, except maybe that little smile from little Ave. And please teach me your ways on the kitchen purge. I’ve got to get a head start on my Spring cleaning!

One cabinet at a time. Baby steps is the way to go so it’s not so daunting. Once you see the results though, it’ll help motivate you to keep going.

Wow that’s a good food week… One day I’m just going to show up at your house for brunch 😉
I can’t believe that hot dog menu, never seen anything like that, not here or in the UK. Then again mustard and ketchup is about as fancy as we have here! White beer cheese fondue sounds amazing though!

The hot dog place is just pure fun, and the back of the menu is tater tots with crazy toppings. Plus they have good beer. 🙂

ALL that cake looks SO GOOD. And sledding sounds awesome. I love sledding; we haven’t had tons of snow this year so we haven’t been sledding much, but the mountains have gotten a lot of snow so that = lots of snowboarding.
Emily recently posted…Vegan Sweet Potato Blueberry Figgy French Toast
This was the first time we were able to get out and go sledding because we haven’t had much snow either, and it’s already melted. What a strange winter.
Meghan recently posted…Week in Review: The Socialite Edition (#69)
I feel like I have a few pictures from my baby years where I look exactly like Ave on the sled. And thank you for giving me the biggest chocolate cake craving when it’s not even noon. I feel like it’s not nice to do that when you won’t even share. I’m going to drown my sorrows in a bag of chocolate chips ;P

I know the chocolate cake was cruel and yet oh so good. I blame Meredith. She had a picture a few days before and I’ve been obsessed every since.
I’d recognize that menu anywhere – happy dog!! Have you ever tried the vegan dog? It’s really good! It is more like an italian sausage and so delicious. And their tots. Yum!

I haven’t tried the vegan dog yet, although I’m in love with the tots.
HI Meghan
You’ve had such a full social week. Hat’s off to you for being able to fit so many things in while having to look after a baby. Ever since we had kids, I find it hard to keep the social life. I love the presentation of your Sunday brunch!

It is so difficult to keep a social life with the tiny humans around. This was one of those lucky weeks and we tried to savor every moment. Out in-laws are also super supportive and helpful. It takes a village. 🙂
Look at you all fancy! This looks like a great week from the cake to the brunch to those crazy hotdogs. I love it all 🙂
The brunch was my favorite part. Hello mimosas. 🙂
Sounds like a lot of good birthday celebrating! Chocolate cake is my all-time favorite dessert. Actually, I could go for a slice right about now…
