Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
We dealt with sleep issues on and off all week.
Translation: Ave skipped nap time or drastically reduced it and spent hours awake in the middle of the night, while I fell asleep on the floor next to her crib more than once.
We baked oatmeal raisin cookies.
Translation: we made a huge mess, and Ave loved it.
We celebrated my father in laws birthday.
Translation: I got to scarf down a homemade apple pie I didn’t make. It was so tasty.
Ave went to a one year old birthday party.
Translation: she got to eat lots of mac n cheese, and mommy got to hang with one of her besties and drink wine.
The tiny dictator and I went hiking with another bestie. Say hello to Fall.
Translation: my mini-minion took a full on, fully dressed, dip in the creek, sneakers and all.
Ave hung with grandma and grandpa on Thursday while I practiced self care.
Translation: I picked up take out for lunch, watched bad television and took a nap with my cat. It was exactly what I needed.
We adulted.
Translation: we dealt with and are still dealing with this. Ugh.
Since I can’t end things on that note, we celebrated the tiny dictators half birthday. She’s officially 18 months old.
Translation: we broke out the baby’s bone china, one of the more unusual gifts from our baby shower. There’s a good possibility she’ll break it, but at least it’s no longer collecting dust in a closet.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.
Wow Fall has definitely arrived in Cleveland! I just started noticed some leaves changing here so I imagine it’s only a matter of time. And isn’t picking up lunch and taking a nap one of the BEST forms of self care!

I love picking up lunch. No cooking or cleaning up required; just good eating.

Hahah I want birthday china. I also want the dress Ave is wearing in that pictures. What a classy lady. Your fall hike looks beautiful. I haven’t noticed any real color change here yet… thanks to this up and down crazy weather we’ve been having. Or maybe I just need to get out of downtown. Regardless I gotta get myself some fall leaves. They are my favorite. Along with apple pie.

Ave’s dishware is officially nicer than mine.

Look at you baking with Ave! You know that makes my heart happy. Also, I think your version of adulting is glorious…absolutely glorious. P.S. I love the new pic of you. You are stunning! I’ll miss the banana shot though : )

I love the banana shot too. I’ll have to post on IG again soon. It’s been way too long.

As usual this post made me smile through the entire thing! So entertaining. I hope you get that pipe issue fixed, I hate stuff like that.

The pipe is fixed. Unfortunately there’s still a giant hole in my wall which will stay there until we can come up with a plan. Ugh.

Meg,
Your translations rock.
My biggest accomplishment last week (I’m including the weekend here) was figuring out how to 1) use my new Instant Pot Hashtag ® and 2) how to make a split screen video so I could show my readers HOW to program the machine while simultaneously showing WHAT the food looks like from the top down. I blew thru the battery power and storage capacity of 2 of the 3 phones in the house performing the first feat, but the video that I envisioned became a reality.
I also worked, and walked dogs, and spent way too much time on Facebook.
I plan to read books this week, and I’m off to a good start.
I came home from work, fixed myself a bagel, and enjoyed it on the porch with dogs & my Kindle.
Have a lovely week!

I was quite impressed with your InstaPot videos. You’re assistant is very good. 😉

Actually bone china is extremely hardy. Much more so than ceramic or pottery. Use it every day, and let the tiny dictator know she’s worth it!!
Good to know!! Any idea if it’s dishwasher or mircowave safe? It doesn’t say anywhere on the dishes. 🙁

She still has her Padres monkey!!! I’m impressed!
Love that pic of her walking down the leafy trail. She’s super cute… even if she won’t sleep.

She was snuggling up with her Padres monkey this morning. She loves it.
Oh and she’s slept through the night four out of the last five nights which is the most she’s done in weeks so hooray!

Ave would love it here. There are places to play with water everywhere… And that’s not counting the endless miles and miles of beaches.
Being a homeowner is great until something goes wrong… We sold our house in scotland right before the boiler needed replaced, thank goodness. Urgh I really hope everything works out alright and you get it sorted.
Love hearing about your me time and that you are gaining that much needed tv, nap and chill time!

The pipe is actually fixed. Now we just need to get the wall sorted out which is rather difficult since we aren’t going to be able to find the same tile; it’s vintage. Le sigh.

I can’t believe she’s alrready 18 months old. Next time we visit you we should go on a hike. I think Ave and I are on the same page here 🙂 And I can’t believe how warm it still is in Cleveland. It’s really cold and colorful here alreaady and I am already wearing my warm winter jacket.
Hope that hole in the wall situation resolves quickly!

It’s actually still pretty warm here. It’s making my mission to eat all the soup difficult. 🙂
I can’t believe she’s 18 months either. Like holy crap.

Lovely to all! Of course sorry about the naps on the floor. I’ve taken a few of those myself. Dare I say one time I actually slept quite well. I recall feeling peaceful inside because I knew I could just be right there. I suppose it’s because our babe has always slept in her own bed I missed the bed cuddles. We finally got to take a nap together in bed last weekend at the beach. It was bliss! Ok maybe more for me than her but so what. 2 hours of mommy baby snoozing bliss. That Tiffany China is so gorgeous!! And her dress. So sweet. These are the sweetest and cookiest times 🙂
We did some bed snuggles in San Diego and I loved it.

Wow Ave doesn’t have any fear of the water; I’m amazed she took a full on dip in the water with her clothes and all. 😀 I’m so sorry she hasn’t been sleeping well. I’ll be praying she can sleep and you can get some sleep too! <3

Nope, she has no fear of the water. She runs right into it every chance she gets.

Ave is clearly an expert baker already. The mess adds to the flavor, right?
And is that spinach artichoke dip I see? I actually just had some last night, but now you’re making me want more.
That’s what I’m dealing myself: more flavor and hopefully any germs will bake off. 🙂
Yep, two thumbs up for spinach artichoke dip. It’s one of my favorites.

I totally get the take away food and bad television self care. Here in Chicago, while the man is working, I can’t count the hours anymore of me lying in bed watching Netflix. On usual workdays. All day. Me not feeling bad at all 🙂
18 months???? WHAAAAT? Omg. I remember the day when you told me you were pregnant (or when you told Laura in our threesome skype – that was probably one of my most favourite moments in my effing LIFE) like it was yesterday.

I still can’t believe she’s already 18 months old…like what?! You were one of the very first people I told. I was so shocked.

Ugh, adulting. Why doesn’t anyone ever warn us of this? On another note, I am quite impressed by Ave’s dress and china. Lucky lil lady. So fancy!
Yep, Ave’s dishware is nicer than mine. Ha!

Belated happy half-day to the Tiny Dictator! Soon she’ll be a not-so-tiny one. How adorable are those ducky plates.
Despite the adulting nonsense you have to deal with, looks like it was a pretty good week filled with alone time, cookies and getting outdoors.
Despite everything, it was a fantastic week and we’re so lucky to be able to spend them all together. #grateful
