Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
I have no idea what happened last week. I only took a handful of pictures and barely touched my planner, so my traditional memory joggers aren’t gonna help today.
Gulp.
I’m gonna give this the old college try, minus the all nighters, the booze and the post carb consumption, unless of course you count Friday night’s sleep over in Ave’s room and subsequent Halloween candy binge.
My name is Meghan, and I like to eat my feelings and drink copious amounts of coffee, or ‘caulkie’ as Ave calls it.
Let’s get listing:
The Hubby had Tuesday off, so we took Ave to a farm complete with slides, pumpkins, hay bales, corn mazes, live animals and plenty of photo ops.
On Thursday, we hit up Baby and Me story time, and the day before we checked out a new library with a ginormous kids section. Ave was obsessed with the train, and she might have snatched a railroad car from another baby. Yes, I made her give it back.
We also scoped out a new music class, complete with scarfs, shakers and ribbons. I didn’t get a single picture because Ave spent 99% of the class curled up in my lap, with her rattle in one hand and her thumb planted firmly in her mouth. After each song was complete, she would stand up and clap and then plop back into my lap.
We ran errands. Lots and lots of errands. We went to Breadsmith multiple times, Target twice, a couple of different grocery stores, the pet store and the playroom at the gym.
I put on my MacGyver hat and fixed Ave’s music mobile which hasn’t worked in months. Apparently, it required a fresh set of batteries.
I did a little bit of blog writing for posts that are still in progress, although I spent the majority of my free time snuggling up with Samantha, my cat who’s been sick; the vet suspects cancer. If they’re right, it’s just a matter of time. Sigh.
On Saturday, the whole family went to a 40th birthday party for a close friend. I was in charge of the fruit and cheese board, and I took my job seriously.
I also made candied walnuts for the occasion.
On Sunday, I made a crockpot full of vegetarian chili, picked up Ave’s Halloween costume, hung with the kiddo at the library and wrote this blog post.
Oh and one more thing: the Hubby and I finally finished watching The Wire. I loved the entire series and can see why it’s so highly recommended.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. What’s one of your favorite television series? Do you have trouble remembering what you did last week?
Miss Polkadot says
Oh damn. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a wrong interpretation and Samantha not having cancer after all. Cancer just sucks badly. So very badly.
That aside – though I’m sure it’s been on your mind all the time – your week sounds quite lovely. Ave sure can’t complain about boredom, eh ;)? I like that you’re taking her to libraries all the time. Makes me sad to think there are more and more parents who don’t read to their children at all.
Not leaving your nap and needing you by her side on Friday nights: seems like she’s big on mummy and me time lately. Also: what is she/are you going to dress up as for Halloween? It’s not a big thing over here but I’ve seen lots of cute family outfits on blogs in past years.

The irony is we rarely read at the library. We go for the kids play area, although she does pick up a book from time to time when we’re there. Also, we do tons of reading at home so she’s getting her books one way or another.
We got Ave a sheep costume, although I’m skeptical that she’ll actually wear the hood part.

I’m so sorry about your cat. Our dog, Zoe, is getting to the age where it takes her a full two minutes to stand and walk off crookedly and it breaks my heart. Animals are better than people most times, which is why it’s so hard then they get old and sick.
I’m glad you did the farm/pumpkin patch thing. We’re off to do it AGAIN this morning (for the 3rd time) because the twins are obsessed.
P.S. What’s Ave going to be for Halloween?!

I’ve lost two cats before this one and it never gets easier. Animals are such a source of emotional comfort.
Ave is going to be a sheep for Halloween and we’re signed up for another pumpkin/zoo thing this weekend. Gotta take advantage while we can right?!

Hi Meghan, My husband and I were glued to The Wire at the recommendation of my son. Fabulous series but a sad commentary. I find I watch too much TV since we have Amazon Fire. I am sorry to hear about your cat. Ralph lost his cat a year and a half ago. I don’t think he is over it yet. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering what I did each day much less the week! Time passes way too quickly.

The Wire was fantastic although a pretty bleak commentary: eventually the system will corrupt you and nothing will change. Sorta goes against what you and I believe, huh?!

I am a feelings/binge eater also, within the confines of my physical abilities, lol! Some things just can never change .
A week in review, things we have done in the past week? Well? How bout nothing! A month ago I broke my arm and, was splinted up at the walk in 24 hr clinic, told it was a simple, clean break, , and saw my orthopedic doc four days later. He said no, not the arm, my wrist, not clean, but a displaced radius wrist bone and my hand also was out of position so both needed to be repositioned. Next a temp. Splint until the swelling went down, next a reg cast. That’s not wat happened. I had surgery when the new setting did not hold. And my ulna nerve is damaged and it hurts like the devil. Tomorrow the packaging comes off for physical therapy and is replaced w a removable splint. Joy in that!
All of your food always looks so gorgeous! Weather you made it purchased itt, it’s always presented so prettily. Since I am right handed and that’s the messed up one, I am relying on my husband, who’s only goal is getting something from a place, decent carry out if I interfear, into our stomachs.
I am glad that Ave is learning manners with friends and strangers alike! I swear some parents seem to believe they learn them on their own, through osmosis, or by simply sucking on those food squeezie containers in front of the T.V. or while riding in their strollers when they are old enough to be walking, exploring things along the way, and getting some exercise. Just a thought. I see that Ave gets plenty of exercise and works you out too, LoL!
We all have weeks that pass by in a blur…my whole month just did, with the accompaniment of Norco/tylenol3 and I’m not sure if I’ve even had a ‘proper’ shower! I know my hair had been shampooed in the kitchen sink with clumsy help, and some not ideal private sponge baths. Ugh! Waiting for this chapter to end..
Grandma Lala says
Sorry, I couldn’t see how long that was before I hit the button or I’d have deleted the whole depressing mess…
Meghan says
Well I’m glad you couldn’t delete it because I love your comments, lengthy and all. I’m sorry to hear about the arm though; that really sucks and I know Norco doesn’t actually do much for the pain.
Ave definitely gets her exercise and keeps me running too. Yesterday we raked the front yard, and then she went to the playground with grandma and grandpa. She’s very into the slides right now and has even started doing some of the smaller ones herself. Time flies, eh?

Ave loves going to the stores. She runs up and down the aisles or rides happily in the car, while I feed her snacks. She’s not old enough to realize she should ask for all the things so it works out great.

Look at all that Ave is learning. How to ride a hay bale with legs on either side, how to share and give back what you take, and how to be an excellent audience member and give a stellar standing ovation. So she may be more of an observer than a music performer. Or she’s just waiting for her time until the stage calls to her. It’s all good. Point is, your parent skills deserve a serious award for all the culture and experiences you give that girl.
As well as your cheese board skills. They obviously knew who to put in charge of that one.
I’m really sorry to hear about Samantha 🙁 :(. Sending my love your way.

What a lovely comment. We really try to do lots of different activities so she can learn and experience new things. She adores music but gets a little shy in the class setting. A few more classes and she’ll be rocking out with all the other tiny humans.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear Samantha’s not been doing well. She’s beautiful.
My cat Maggie also seems to be showing the early stages of kidney failure, which means it could be only a matter of time for her too. We’ve had her over half my life! It’s so hard when they’ve been with you for so long–longer than a lot of people!

I’m so sorry about Samantha!!! that just breaks my heart, I am definitely thinking of you and all of your loves. These little fur babies.. they hold my heart so tightly, my DJ is having dental issues and Muffin is having her issues with moodiness and then had a limp leg for a whole day. Between the humans and the canines, my heart is so full and my head is full of crazy 🙂
I love the farm pics and all the pics. Now we need to start watching The Wire!!

Okay was there a pig at that farm? I need to ask because my obsession is still going strong haha.
I am actually dying to see Ave in her Halloween costume. If I had a child I would force Stefan and the child to do a themed costume parade with me. Like Neil Patrick Harris and his family always do. Sadly trick or treat isn’t a big thing here. But we get sweets for the neighbor’s kids. And don’t mind eating like 90% of it by ourselves. Maybe I should say luckily trick or treat isn’t a big thing here 😉
How’s Ave liking the gym playroom now?
My last week was pretty awesome. We went to the fossil quarry with our nephew (as you know), we babysat our nieces and drumroll…. I handed in my thesis 😀 I also google flight prices to Cleveland. Sadly it’s insane. But I miss you and want to see you!

I’ve been scoping Scott’s cheap flights and sometimes they have some great deals to Europe. I’m not sure if you get that site in Germany, but check it out if you can.
The farm had bunnies, hens, two goats (who got out of the pen), cows and a handful of pigs. Ave loves pigs. We have several pig books and she asks for them all the time.

Hello, Meghan.
Good day! What an adorable baby you have. How old is she? Oh about that fruit and cheese board, you really did a fine job. That vegetarian chili soup looks so good, it made me hungry! Lol
Lucie says
That pic of you and Ave in the cornfield is my favourite. LOVE it. I just washed a huge pile of laundry. That and work were probably the only adultive things I did past week – everything else were fun shenanigans. I went out for drinks, I did some photographing at a competition, I bought a new piercing even though I have zero money, I went to the alps and ate shitloads of pumpkin soup and hiked.
