Week in Review: The Fall Edition (#105)

October 23, 2017 by Meghan 38 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

We did a lot of yard work. With very old, ornery and ogre sized oak trees in our yard, we get more than our fair share of leaves. Thankfully, Ave makes a great ‘helper’ (cough, cough).

We took the kitty to the vet yet again; sigh. On the plus side, I’ve been getting lots of snuggles with her while reading my book. While the circumstances aren’t ideal, the relaxing time with my furry feline is wonderful.

We had some nap struggles earlier in the week, and as a result, we fled to the in-laws house. Have I mentioned how much I love them? Grateful is an understatement.

We hit up the local library for general shenanigans and went to story time as well.

We mastered the slide at the park, going down it 6,327 times. I wish this was an exaggeration.

We went to a music class and followed it up by playing with new toys, also known as the holy grail of toddlerdom.

We did dinner with friends. It involved margaritas and burritos from one of our favorite Mexican restaurants: Villa Y Zapata.

As far as exercise goes, we went on a nature walk with our buddies because they make everything better. These two little munchkins actually passed leaves back and forth which is pretty impressive since most play has been parallel up to this point.

I also tried out a cycling class at CycleBar Beachwood. They invited a friend and I to their studio, and we were blown away. It was super clean, modern and incredibly high tech.  Despite it being my first spinning experience in two years, there was no pain, not even from the bike seat. Also, they finished the class with cool lavender soaked towels and bananas. Be still my heart. Despite it being on the other side of town, I will definitely be back.

The highlight of the week though was on Saturday night. We went to a local event: Boo at the Zoo. I smuggled in wine, there was costumes and creatures galore and Ave loved it, or at least the McDonald’s french fries at the end. Can you blame her?

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Oh I’m glad to hear you liked CycleBar, I’m going to an event at one in DC this weekend for the first time. Love a good spin class! And margaritas and burritos, the zoo, and time outside, sounds like it was a great week!

I want a banana and a lavender soaked towel RIGHT NOW. I’m going to need it. We lost aBrasford pear tree to storms and are now re-doing the whole yard. Way too ambitious for October.

That is way too ambitious for October. You’re supposed to be hibernating and recharging those batteries right now. Curling up by the fire with a warm bowl of soup, a crazy afghan and a great book. By the way, I’m halfway through The Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson, and I don’t want to put it down. I’ve been meaning to message you and tell you.

I love your little girl! Not playing you at all, she’s just that lovable and cute! At least from this far! She had me wanting to ‘help’ with the leaves too! I’d have probably broken the other wrist tho, they tell me that I am ‘brittle….I love brittle, but the only the eating sugary type!

It is a huge milestone for Ave to pass leaves to a friend, YaY! I’m not sure that I would now, even, I like to collect the prettiest ones and iron them between two pieces of waxed paper, and take them out to keep forever, in all of their bright colored glory! Or until they gather too much dust.

In-laws. Synonym for saints! I love Mexican too! Mole is a very subjective flavor and I am one who loves it, but am particular about it also, some is very bitter and if it’s too hot, you can’t really appreciate all of its marvelous mixture of seasonings and ingredients. (If it is authentic)

And that is all the hunt and peck my mending limb can do. This has gone from a simple fracture to a complicated long and drawn out situation! And I am not complaining! I still have all of my digits and am 100% grateful it wasn’t worse, and happy that it wasn’t worse. A little longer and more rehab is fine for an almost good new outcome! The stitches come out today from the surgery and the lengthy process of rehab begins!

I think Ave would love you too. You’re her type, I can just tell.

I hope the hand heals quickly now; being brittle is no fun.

Sneaking in wine to a zoo….. that’s my girl.

That spin class looks INTENSE geez louise. Lavender soaked bath towel though – could I just come for that part?

I’m happy you got out to enjoy lots of good movement, indoors or out. I hope the kitty snuggles continue this week. I’d think those are priority right now.

Also. I need a fuck it bucket sticker. Where did you get this last round?

The Fuck It bucket stickers are from a shop on Etsy called Lisa Lorene Plans. I won them and use them guardedly. 🙂

Cycle Bar was so much fun. This may be shock to you, but I loved the competitive nature of the leaderboard. I think I can go back now… my left quad is still SO weak though.

P.S. Ave is going to love look back through her baby calendar. Fuck it bucket. LOL!

Ave and the baa baa costume… Heart melts!
The bub has some good taste when it comes to the park though, slides were always the best with swings a close second. Even now if I pass a park that’s empty I can’t help but hop in and have a shot on the slide or swings. Always pass on the roundabout though, or as I used to call it when I was a kid, the puke machine!

I am so excited for you that you started spinning again! I remember it was one of your favorites pre baby! Also this studio looks so fancy. I bet it is fun to work out there. And a free banana is always good 🙂

I love how Ave and her buddy played together!! I totally know what you mean about parallel play, it’s so incredible when the tiny humans play with another tiny human, like together. So cool. Lu has started to run up to kids at the park, giggle or point or both, and then just stare at them. Sometimes they play together and luckily I get to see pics of her shenanigans while I’m at work.
New toys for the win! We could have spent an entire afternoon letting Lu play with all the cuddlies and toys at Nordstrom but Dad was about to have a seizure.. his tolerance for clutter is alarmingly low, yet somehow he can’t seem to see all the gunk left on the sink after he attempts to do dishes. Messy sink? no biggie. Messy desk? big deal! I know you and him are soul siblings. I am not saying anything though because I learned that criticism will only get me less help, just kidding. Well sorta 🙂

The nap struggles sound exhausting but yay for in-laws living close by.
Playing together? Now that you’re saying it, I realize that is indeed something toddlers aren’t automatically do and not the case when my sister’s best friend is around with her little girl, either. I bet I took a while to get started with that, too – being that seriously shy girl I used to be. So go Ave!
I hope your feline friend is doing at least a little better!

I know you’ll appreciate this, but I’m fairly certain Ave is going to be an introvert. Whenever it gets too loud and crazy with other kids, she slips away and goes somewhere calm and private. I can totally relate and I know you can too. 🙂
