It’s time to slip another Currently post into the mix. Instead of rambling on, as is my usual custom, I’m getting right to the point today. You’re welcome.
Current Book: I’m reading The Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson, and I’m Invested with a capital I. I want to spend every free minute with this book.
Current Thankfulness: my in-laws. I’ve mentioned them before, but they take Ave every Thursday giving me a nice scheduled break. If it wasn’t for them, I’m not sure I could handle this stay at home mom business. That respite makes me a better parent, and I’m so fortunate to have that luxury.
Current Obsession: I’ve been obsessed with nap time ever since Ave was born; partially because we struggled with it so much in the beginning. As a result, I time her naps on the daily. It’s a bit creepy and excessive, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Current Triumphs: did I mention I tried my first cycling class in years? While I didn’t trounce the competition, I did manage not to puke, and surely that counts for something.
Current Drink: coffee.
Current Confession: I like coffee more than booze right now. I’m just as shocked as you are by this statement.
Current Excitement: the tiny dictator and I are headed to Buffalo tomorrow to visit the family. While we’re headed back for less than lovely reasons, I’m still excited to spend time with my peeps. It’s been almost two months, which means we’re past due.
Current Bane of Existence: I’ve been fighting off a cold for damn near a month now. One day I’m fine and the next my throat is on fire and I feel like I’ve been whacked with a sledge hammer. Grumble, grumble.
Current Food: apples and peanut butter. Tis’ the season.
Current Needs: I need to dig my arm warmers out of storage because I’m suddenly freezing. This is the first time I’ve been cold since I was pregnant, so I hope this is a sign my hormones are finally regulating.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: being a bum when Ave naps, if she naps that is. I’ve been curling up with my cat and a book or a television show instead of doing the thousand other things I could do. I have no regrets.
Current Mood: pretty content. I’m getting ready to see my family, Ave has slept through the night the past seven nights (knocks on wood), and I’ve got coffee at the ready. Life doesn’t get much better.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current obsession? Current confession?

I put The Secret of Magic in my library queue after you told me about it! I’m at the end of The Resurrection of Joan Ashby. It’s a doozy–intensely interwoven plots and psyches. On a lighter note…I want your knit blanket

That blanket was knit by my grandmother in law. It’s visually jarring, yet the most comfortable blanket ever.

1) That book sounds really good. I did like “The Help” so I will put this on my list.
2) I literally just pulled out my hand warmers (they look just like yours but cut off at the wrist) – as I think finally the cold is HERE. Boo.
3) Speaking of colds. Everyone I know is sick. The lingering is the worst part – I hope it leaves you soon.
4) With a rainbow afghan like that how could you not want to spend all your time curled up with a book!?
5) Enjoy your trip! For whatever is bringing you there, I hope you enjoy the therapy of family.

The lingering is the worst part. I just want to shake this off already. Thankfully, family time, afghans and good books make it all bearable.

that last one.. that sums up my life right now as well. baby happy, life is so good. happy baby, happy life. i think the saying that ‘happy wife, happy life’ really means ‘if the baby is happy, the wife is happy, and therefore everyone else can be happy’ when the wife is not happy, it’s because she’s sleep deprived! i’m convinced sleep deprivation is the root of all evils and arguments. at least at my home. we finally learned that when we… or I… miss out on sleep it’s best not to have too many serious conversations. ain’t nobody gonna get too much outta me if i’m missing my winks for long.
this is my favorite time of year, i must say. i hope you shake off that cough soon! hahaha. i like to rhyme when i have time. durrhuuurrrrrr.

Happy baby does equals happy life. Words of wisdom right there.

I’m woefully (like um, months) behind on blog reading so I’m glad I caught this today! That coffee mug is amazing.
As for warding off cold symptoms…I have a friend who swears by eating raw cloves of garlic to get rid of colds. Never really had the stomach to try it myself but he claims it works like a charm!
Meghan says
If I can’t shake this cold in the next week or so, I may have to try ingesting raw garlic.
Welcome back. It’s good to see you here.

Urgh I am the same right now, one minute feeling fine next minute it feels like I have been slapped with a cold/bug. I think it might be due to the humidity changing here and as a result bugs are spreading like wildfire. But I hope we both kick it soon!
Have a great time seeing family this weekend. Sorry the circumstance aren’t ideal but family time is family time nonetheless and always much needed and welcome 🙂

Have fun on your Buffalo trip! Stay warm!!!! I think I’m in need of those arm warmers or that cozy colorful blanket you’ve got.

Oh yes I highly recommend arm warmers. They are super cozy and they have a ton of stylish ones now.

Yes, the in-laws are amazing. We’re with my parents this weekend and they’re equally as awesome. It definitely takes a village.

Urgh I feel you on the cold. I am dealing with it for I think about 8 weeks now. Two weeks in between have been good and then boom it started over again.
Hope you have a fab weekend with your family and get to enjoy it despite the less than lovely reasons behind!
I also agree on the coffee/ booze thing. While having a glass of wine is nice and lovely, I am all crap without coffee. So coffee over booze!
I’m going to check out that book. I need new reading material 🙂

#TeamCoffeeOverBooze, although maybe some days I’ll slip booze into the coffee. I’m pretty sure that’s why they invented Bailey’s. 🙂
