Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week was a plethora of firsts for the tiny human and myself, so much so I want to break into song, “All the women independent, throw yo hands up in the air.” Confused? Read on for further explanation.
Let’s get listing:
The tiny dictator sent herself to her room for “not listening to mommy” and then put herself down for a nap. Now if only I can get her to repeat this action.
She also insisted on taking her first solo shower, which she loved. In fact, I practically had to wrestle her out, and I’m certain our next water bill will be astronomical.
Miss. Independent also made her first fried egg. Translation, she cracked and deposited the egg onto the skillet when Dad’s back was turned for six seconds. I’m equally impressed with her cooking skills and her ninja-like reflexes.
Speaking of food, someone took a bite out of my cheese; quite literally.
Mini-minion aside, I finally made my way to The Cleveland Bagel and I was not disappointed. In fact, I want to go back and try everything; twice, especially those schmears. I tossed the last of the Cheddar Chive schmear in my homemade tomato soup, and it was magical.
My granola, City Hippie made it’s debut appearance at Play Grounds Cafe, a small and local coffee shop. You can now pick up snack size bags of apple pie and sweet and salty trail mix granola to go with your latte. If you’re in the area, please go buy some.
Speaking of granola, for this first time since embarking on this mission, I made a profit, a whopping $1.16, before paying for a website and immediately falling back into the red.
Last but certainly not least, I embarked on my very first pig train adventure with tiny human in tow. When in Rome…..er, I mean Mapleside.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.Any fun firsts happening in your life?
Better keep a close eye on the little minion 😛 It starts with a ninja egg, secret cheese bites…next thing you know…

What? Your daughter gave herself a time-out, then put herself to bed? That is amazing. My kids would NEVER have done either of those 2 things. I practically had to strap them in for them to take a nap, even when they were exhausted. Congrats on running a (temporarily) profitable business! I am sure that will happen much more often in the coming weeks and months. Why no link to your website, or is it still under construction?

Great question. The website is still under construction and probably will be for a good long minute. I promise to share it when it’s ready though.
If it helps, I practically had to strap her down to wash her hair last night. Toddlers are weird.

So Ave is now…. 18!? Wait no. I’d never put myself to bed at 18. Nor could I fry a good egg. She’s light years beyond me already. Go Ave!!
All of this is so exciting. Those granola gains are going to grow! Slowly but surely, as any business works (though how would I know). Main point is now people in Cleveland are twice as happy as they were before, munching on your delectable goods.
And whatever “schmeare” is, I applaud this bagel shop for their use of this word and their amazing menu. Damn!
Schmear is amazing and I want to put it on everything.

Congrats on a fun, amazing (Ave self correcting misbehavior AND taking her own nap), business growth, and delicious firsts, I have made several of tour granolas and those recipes are only only ones that I use.
The best ever. And I’ve been making it since hippie 70’s. True! We all have our faves, mine happens to be the the sweet and salty. Soon you’ll be renting large kitchens and hiring staff and please, remember us little people when you are rolling on millions $$$
Your, not tour!
Aw I’m so glad to know my recipes are your favorite. I’m a fan too, but I’m biased. Don’t worry Ave will keep me humble.

Super impressed with Ave’s egg ninja skills. I don’t think I could crack an egg in 6 seconds, much less get it safely deposited in the skillet.
Congrats on the granola profit – I’m sure it will be a more permanent fixture in your spreadsheet soon!
Let’s hope so. Fingers and spatulas crossed for future profit.

she is way too cute. love the picture of her napping. yay for the granola sale!
The napping pictures are my favorite, mostly because she’s actually napping.

I love all the first’s!!! What awesome first’s as well!!! so excited and happy for your business and can’t wait to try it.
I can’t wait for you to try the granola too. You’re gonna love it.

I’m so proud of you for that granola. And that kid.
Thanks Momma. I appreciate it and send the sentiment right back your way.
Yasssss for profits!!! We need you and The tiny one to visit around the holidays. The Macy’s here has a giant pink pig ride on the roof. Also, I like eggs. I still like eggs.
Ooh a pig ride. Now that sounds enticing. Will you take the tiny human on it?

Of course!
I think I fried my first egg at 30 or 31. I believe more and more that your little one is going to run the world one day 😀 Maybe you can hand down your granola imperium to her one day 🙂
A big fat YAY for making a profit. Even though it was just for a little while. But you have to spend money to make money, right? And I believe in you, your business skills and granola making skills. I have no doubt you will be profitable in a bit.
Let’s hope she can take over the world; it certainly needs all the help it can get right now.

Yay you on your granola expansion!! So exciting! Have you taken pics yet of it in the store on display? And turning a profit already is great. That can take some businesses a long time to do. I was definitely frugal when I started up my bakery – starting small and buying lots of equipment second hand. We hosted thanksgiving for the first time this past weekend. My inlaws always do it but this year it was us. The pumpkin pie was my favorite part 🙂

I did take a few pictures but I’m going back next week for more.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.

Go Ave! Reprimanding herself, eating cheese like a boss and being a shower superstar. And go Meg for your granola being in Playgrounds (awesome name by the way) – great snack to go along with a coffee – and rocking out a pig ride! Kid or not I would have wanted a ride too…
Thanks lovely. It was a lot of great things last week so I’m grateful.

You’ve got me craving some bagels now. Daaaaang. That egg is pretty impressive. Even more impressive is how sneaky Ave was!
Yay for all the firsts! Hope your week is going swell.
