Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
Last week passed in a blur of teething (Ave), a kick your ass cold (me), and a highlight reel of a weekend (all of us). For some reason, probably the illness, I have practically no pictures, so I’m just gonna fill in the blanks as best as possible and rely on some old stock photos. You understand.
I tackled my CSA produce and made homemade peach cobbler, tomato sauce and baked ratatouille.
I wrote and shared a post all about my favorite food staples, also known as the things I can’t live without or I become a crazy person. Ok, fine, a crazier person.
In that same vein, I went to the grocery store a handful of times. Solo, it was magical.
I started and finished the book Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. It was a quick and easy read.
I spent a good chunk of time horizontal on the couch, recovering from cold, while my angelic in-laws hung out with Ave at their house. Seriously, I have no idea how people without a support system close by do this whole parenting thing.
I went to my third therapy appointment. Ever since I went back on the Zoloft in early July, I’ve made it a point to be more proactive about my mental health. Hashtag no shame in my game.
On Saturday night, we broke all the rules and kept Ave up way past her bedtime in order to see the Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Zoo. It was a special exhibit, spanning the entire zoo, and it was incredible. I was so impressed and I can say for certain, it was worth the late night.
(This is only a teeny, tiny fraction of the exhibit.)
We finished off the week with a trip to the beach with friends. The weather was perfect, the water was great, and the company was even better. Now if only I could get the sand out of all my crevices. Too much info? Don’t answer that.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.

I hope you’re feeling better! I saw a similar lantern exhibit a few years ago in Dallas. It was magical!
Meghan says
Still sniffling, but the Asian lantern exhibit more than made up for it.

No shame in anyone’s mental health game, Dollykins! hmmm….by sand in crevices I am sure meant in between the plumbers toes, right?
The lantern display in the night sky is beautiful and even I would stay up past my ridiculously early bedtime to see.
Are you sure you have human in-laws or are they saints? I wish every parent had such support for the well being of their family unit.
Hope you are all well now.
Meghan says
I’m pretty sure my in-laws are Saints, or at least they are to me. 🙂 I am so very fortunate to have them both.
Still sniffling but hanging in because that’s moms do. 🙂

The beach and lantern festival sound magical literally. Not the itchy sand afterwards but seriously I can’t wait for our beach excursion. I need a break like I can’t even explain!! Too much real life jazz and I could use some extra jazz hands. And helping hands on that note ha! Happy no labor Monday my friend!
Meghan says
You have been hustling on the house game, my dear. I can imagine the kind of break you need. You’re doing awesome momma.

We grandparents are thrilled to be called into action to get a chance to hang out with the grandkids. I am sure your in-laws enjoyed their time with Ave at least as much as she did!
Must. Make. Baked. Ratatouille!!!

Yes baked ratatouille is everything you didn’t know you needed.
Grandparents are the best.

Oh I think that’s the same show that’s going to be traveling here in a couple weeks! I’m super excited to see it and also planning on keeping Squish up late so she can come too 🙂 Was Ave intimidated at all by it? This weekend we went for a family hike! It is so so different hiking with a toddler. There was running. There were tantrums. There was carrying in our arms because she refused to get into the backpack carrier. There was trying to keep her away from poison ivy. Would I do it again? Yup absolutely! 🙂
Meghan says
Ave really loved it although she said the one dragon was scary. We’re very into scary things these days, but absolutely worth it.
Everything is different with a toddler, especially the opinionated ones (cough, all toddlers, cough).

Urgh I am trying to recover from the cold too. It sucks and I constantly feel like I have been punched in the face. But hopefully I’m over the worst of it now and you are too! Glad to hear you were able to get some help with Ave so you could have some downtime. Your in laws are rockstars.
And that lantern festival just looked magical!
Meghan says
My in-laws are amazing, although I’m still struggling with this damn cold. Sigh.
The lantern festival was incredible. Highly, highly recommend.
Kaylee says
That peach cobbler looks lovely. Your CSA usage is goals! Seriously.
Yay for the self-care time — grocery shopping, letting yourself get some rest with that cold, and going to therapy.
Something from my long weekend: watched Crazy Rich Asians with my mom and attended a free outdoor yoga class. 🙂

What did you think of the movie? I’ve heard a lot of good things and want to see it myself.
Hooray for mother daughter time.
Cora says
I’m JUST getting over this ridiculous cold and this grossss cough that just hasn’t wanted to leave. I had never experienced this “summer cold” people speak of, and now I never want to again. It’s brutal!
Thank god for in laws.
Major fist pump for having that therapy session. You rock. I hope it was helpful in whatever way you needed it to be. And oh that lantern festival looks amazing!! Very worth the missed bed time I’d say.
