Week In Review: Food, Family, and Granola (#158)

November 12, 2018 by Meghan 26 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

We did a lot of things last week, although the most important was the tiny human and I voted, or really I voted and she snagged my prize because stickers.

We had one really nice weather day, so of course we hopped over to the local play ground for shenanigans with our bestie. We even managed a park visit when the weather was not so nice. I’m still defrosting, and Ave got a little wind burn on her cheeks. Damn those thirty degree gusts.

It wasn’t all blistery cold though. I sneaked in a lunch date, sans tiny human, with an old and good friend. Soup and salad for the win.

Not to be outdone, we also celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday at a local restaurant with my mini-minion in tow, who had some serious trouble sitting still. The best part though is Ave spent the night at grandma and grandpa’s house after our celebrations.

I spent my solo evening watching bad television until 2 a.m. It was bliss. (There’s no accounting for taste.)

Ave and I went to our first music class since the Spring, and she promptly told everyone, “Mommy put my shirt on backwards,” and “Ave peed the bed.”

The tiny human and I also drove to Buffalo and spent the weekend visiting with my family and Ave’s cousins. It’s been far too long since we’ve been there, so it was really nice to connect and catch up.

Parenting moments aside, I did a holy shitton of work on City Hippie stuff, finalizing costs, updating the website, packaging and mailing out orders, and making ten, yes ten, different batches of granola.

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Looks like a great week! My sister has multiple unicorn sweatshirts just like your daughters. Must be the cool thing. Lol

Unicorns are very in right now. Even Starbucks got in on the action.

Your salads look so appealing. Often, by the time I get to order at a restaurant, I am starving. I think a salad is not going to be enough food. When I order one, I am always pleasantly surprised that it IS enough, after all. I just have to get over that initial I-need-a greasy-sandwich-and-fries mentality and order the salad.

And, that unicorn sweatshirt…! Can you tell I have only sons and grandsons? Your little girl’s frilly, girly outfits are my vicarious pleasure since I never got to buy little girl clothing!

I just so happen to love a good salad so they always hold an appeal for me. Greasy burgers not so much, but I will take a side of fries or onion rings. 🙂

My in-laws had all boys so they love buying Ave clothes too.

What a weeeeek. And you threw in a whole damn trip to Buffalo amidst it all.

Where did the days go where we had zero vocal filters? I wonder what I would say if I had no barriers walking into my next music class. Probably something only you and I would ever know, after plenty a-glass-o-wine.

Yay for late night trashy TV and grandparent sleepovers.

I’m pretty sure alcohol is definitely responsible for breaking down our filters. Maybe we should all just drink more booze?!

Wow! Ave seems to not mind the frigid temps at all! She looks s I do. We didn’t have any such warm day of which you spoke. Nope, we’ve already had snow.

I keep saying this, but where you find the energy to keep Ave so busy astounds me. I’ll bet you sleep great at night.

Oh how I savored those times when I could put my feet up all afternoon and night without my little house tornadoes and watch trash tv until the wee hours! (and not share my snacks)

I do sleep pretty great at night. Between Ave’s antics and my own, I’m exhausted every day by 5 p.m. 🙂

Wow impressive ass kickery! We are wimps and bundle up when it drops below 70. Lately it’s been in the 50’s and it’s like a freeze. Hans Solo boots galore and I’m included!
You just reminded me I need to complete my city hippie granola order!! My phone went whacko as I was checking out. Will order today 🙂

If we stayed indoors when it got cold here, we’d hardly ever leave the house from October until May. We have no choice but to embrace it.

Whoa, you are a busy lady! I love the unfiltered toddler comments. They’re embarrassing and awesome, and I just love them. If the three of us are out somewhere and I have to use the washroom, Squish loves to announce to everyone “MAMA HAS TO GO PEEEEE!!!” Thanks kid. I keep waiting for her to say something embarrassing about my husband in public but so far nothing. The three of us had a chill weekend after having a busy week. I made pumpkin soup from a Halloween pumpkin and got holiday lattes and we went for walks and just hung out and played. Totally needed.

The chill weekend sounds magical and much needed. We had a getaway last weekend, just the Hubby and I, our first since the tiny human was born. It was so nice to be able to carry on a conversation without being interrupted a thousand times. Ahhh the little things. Of course, we missed the munchkin terribly but she had a great time with my in-laws.

I hope she learns that telling people that she peed the bed isn’t cool before she hit grade school. That shit is funny though.

Gosh, you’re a granola making machine! 10 batches of granola!!! Can you bake several at once or do you have to make them one after the other?
I am still in love with Ave’s unicorn hoodie. Do you think it would suit me 😉
    How’s the foot doing?

I made 8 batches of granola in the past two days. 🙂 I do make several batches at a time to save on time and create efficiency. I’m a granola making operation these days.

The foot is MUCH better. No more crutches, no more boot and I can almost run and jump again. It’s healing better than I thought, thankfully.

You could totally pull off the unicorn hoodie.

I bet it feels great working on the City Hippy bits and bobs. Crazy, manic but all yours and therefore worth it. Love hearing how you are getting on, always makes me smile.
And sometimes you just need to face the wind chill and play. As you can imagine growing up in scotland I had my fair share of wind burn. Maybe that’s why, still to this day, I have permanent rosy red cheeks!

Maybe that explains my rosy cheeks too. Sometimes you just gotta face the wind chill and play. I love it.
