One movie. Two impromptu concerts, self hosted of course. Three states. Four cities. Five workouts. Seven parties. Endless eats. Infinite cocktails. Loads of sleep. Plus a post party glow.
The Hubby and I completed our holiday circuit yesterday afternoon. As such, we are both filled with warm fuzzies, and love and gratitude for our families, along with all other things equally as touching; in a sentimental way that is. No perversion here. Alright fine, only sometimes, and definitely not today. Be on the lookout for dirty humor later this week though. I can only behave for so long.
The same goes for anyone here for a recipe post. As much as I’d like to share, and believe me I’ve got food to share, I haven’t been home long enough to pull a rabbit out of my hat. I’m speaking figuratively now, even though a certain six year old nephew got a magic kit for Christmas. A performance was held, and as the appointed announcer, I learned the mystery behind that particular trick, although a sidekick never tells. As my nephew says, “it’s a family secret now.” Well done kid, well done.
Since I am an introvert at heart, and one who has just been incredibly social for a multitude of days, I’m looking forward to curling into a ball, preferably on my couch, all while happily babbling nonsensical things and nibbling on pomegranate seeds and shortbread cookies. I’m ready to get lost in a world of books, video games, jigsaw puzzles, silence and serenity, which is why you’ll get very few words from me today, ignoring the handfuls above.
Instead I’ve decided to give you a glimpse into my personal life, with far too many photos, although never enough to capture the magic of the moment. Hopefully, they will be a suitable substitute and tell my holiday tales for me today.
“Show me the way home, honey.”
There were a few things I waned to accomplish this holiday season, some of which included “make great memories, travel safe, be generous and kind, and eat lots of fabulous food.” I’d say mission accomplished.
Your turn: tell me all about your holidays? What was the best moment and the best meal?
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen says
Looks like you had a wonderful (and delicious!) Christmas! And a hectic one too. As much as I love the holidays, I’m always ready for them to be over by the 26th. Hope you’re enjoying your downtime now!
It’s hard to pick just one best moment of Christmas, but one of my favourites was definitely making cookies with my grandma. As for the best food, that award goes to Smitten Kitchen’s sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream that I made for Christmas dessert!

Your dessert sounds heavenly. I’d like to try that.
Also I’m glad you were able to spend so much time with grandma right now. I can only imagine how difficult the holiday was for you and the family. I thought of you often.

These are such lovely photos! The candy cane shaped wreath is my favourite.
My best holiday moments were probably all the little ones combined together 🙂

I love that wreath too. It was at my dad and step mom’s place, and I just had to take a picture.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

So glad you enjoyed your holidays. Mine are still kind of happening. Except for the fact that I need to bust out my laptop and start doing some actual work, I’m in NE through New Years! I am excited to get some me time soon though too! Totally feel ya there! 🙂

Oh I’ve been taking breaks! Only blogged 6 times in December! I didn’t touch my laptop for 4 whole days in a row last week which is huge! But I do make money blogging and doing freelance so I can’t really stop unless I make bigger changes elsewhere. Plus I always end up missing it. I have some dessert photos I’m so excited about editing and sharing. #blognerd

Lake Erie. We drive along it when we go from Cleveland to Buffalo and back. It makes for some lovely scenery.
The cat pic was complete luck. I went to snap a picture of the cards to send to someone and he came out of nowhere and just jumped up the wall at the exact perfect moment.
I hope your non-holiday festivities were equally as grand.

love this! i noticed you do crackers – we do xmas crackers as well. fun! except mine didn’t have the toy in it this year, unless someone took it and didn’t tell me. it’s okay though really 🙂
i shared some similar activitites with you: movies, food, performance, athletic apparel/shoes, and libations and joy in great abundance! we went to see the hobbit xd and the gambler, so 2 movies in 2 days is a huge deal for us. we also saw a great show, a panto show. it was rapunzel versus the zombie killers. panto is a great tradtion i’ve embraced, i recommend to you if you haven’t been to panto performance.
we also had a great southern indian veggie meal in our ‘little india’ part of town, and stocked up on all things of the spice world at the indian market. then we feasted on curried peas while finishing the final season of game of thrones… i had to watch the last episode twice, the first time just wasnt’ enough. and one was tipsy, and the second was very sober.
we embrace the british traditions and also the chinese ones, so my celebrating will carry over into february as the chinese new year approaches… endurance training at it’s finest!
may the festivities continue, thank you for the great pics!
Meghan says
Dude, somebody stole your cracker toy. That’s crazy talk. You need to hunt that down. 😉
Your holidays celebrations sound great, right down to the drunken Game of Thrones watching, although I’m slightly envious they’re still going. Enjoy it. Have a cocktail for me.

Do I still have to tell you about my holidays if I’ve already told you all about my holidays? 😛 We were in the mountains just prior to Christmas, and it was absolutely wonderful. Hanging out in an awesome castle-y hotel, going boarding, and just being in the mountains in general was exactly what I needed to go into the holidays without stressing too much about all that needed to be done. And it was nice to enjoy a quiet Christmas with just me and my parents, although sometimes I do think it would be nice to have a more boisterous one with more people too…

You’ll have to teach me how to snow board. Keep in mind, I have no idea how to ski and my ankles snap easily. They’re extra bendy in fact and prone to injuries. However, I am a willing and eager student who will likely keep a flask of booze in her jacket. 🙂

It looks like you had a lovely holiday (I’m partial to your musical selections, of course- I had no idea anyone but me and my brother still listened to “Gone til November.”)
I actually just got home (well, home to my new home) about an hour ago. My week was filled with family, friends and food as well, and I would say the highlight was seeing my friend who currently lives in Chile. We fell right back into our old shenanigans and it was truly wonderful. That said, I’m happy to be home surrounded by all my new books- my boyfriend’s mom got me a bunch and I’m looking forward to getting started!

I am thrilled to hear someone else recognizes that song. I should have known it would be you. Great musical minds think alike.

The mac and cheese was out of this world, and it was in some kind of cast iron crock pot deal so it was literally bubbling away all evening. Talk about cheese porn. I should have taken video of that.

Basically, we know how to do bread in my family, although one of the desserts was made with a gluten free crust so celiacs would have lived large too.

Ok, there is some seriously yummy looking food here! It sounds like you had some great times, and I definitely am an introvert as well and totally enjoy curling up at home and just enjoying alone time doing whatever (when I say alone time- I actually mean maybe about two minutes of actually being alone before some kid needs something or wants to hang out and get attention or something like that 😉 ). We have had an interesting time over the holidays here..right now we are out of town and 4 out of 5 of us are sick. TOTAL bummer, but hoping everyone gets better before we head home! We’ll see. Have a happy new year!

As much as I enjoy your writing – okay, you know HOW much – it was fun getting a glimpse at your shenanigans through a plethora of pictures here, too. And oh what fun it all looks like. (:
It looks like we both had magicians-to-be in our families as of this Christmas. Only my little cousin – six years old, too – was a little too impatient to actually study any of the tricks. She -did- seem to enjoy watching the DVD explaining them with its wonderful [read: nerve-racking] music playing in the background, though. Let’s see who’ll receive that invitation to Hogwards in around five years’ time …
Any chance there’as some of that bag o’ pesto puff pastry left?? And what kind of soup/stew is there in the last picture?
The pictures of your dad and you are too cute. H0w do they say? You got ya sass from ya daddy ;).

Oh my word, the strombolis with artichokes, asparagus, cheese and pesto were to die for. My sister-in-law makes them, and they are fantastic. This is the second year we’ve had them, and now it’s going to have to be a tradition. So much goodness.
