Week In Review: All Good Things Must Come To An End (#164)

January 7, 2019 by Meghan 28 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

It’s been forever and a day since I’ve penned a blog post. Taking the past couple of weeks off has been a breath of fresh air. It was freedom, not having to write based on a clock or calendar. I was able to kick back and enjoy the holidays with my friends, family and the tiny human, who is the dictionary definition of white privilege. Sigh. Thankfully, she’s allowed me to give away some of her books to a child who needs them, although she is demanding it be a boy. I’m not sure what that’s about.

(I can’t handle the cuteness of OshKosh B’Gosh.)

Anyway, the moral of the story is the tiny dictator is one lucky little kid and it’s time to wrap up the week in review posts. They’ve served their purpose, which was allowing me to stay connected to you guys and have an identity that didn’t revolve solely around being a mom. Since City Hippie is now giving me all the badass super power feels, it’s time to retire the recaps.

Fear not, I intend to keep blogging. I’ve got recipes to share and quirky motherhood posts coming up, just not on some arbitrary clock. Thank you so very much for reading and participating in this little link up over the years. It’s been lovely and it’s been real. I’ll catch you on the flip side.

For old time’s sake, here’s one last chance to:

Link up and get yo’ list on.

An InLinkz Link-up

What did you accomplish last week? Which recipe do you want to see next: Apple Cheddar Biscuits or Loaded Tater Tots?

Thank you so much for hosting this link up. It was the first one I ever joined and my favorite one. I can understand you wanting to be out from under the responsibility to host. Good luck with your City Hippie business and life in general! It has been wonderful to get to know you.

Haha! What a great ride and boost for us all! I think removing the pressure of deadlines is a great idea! Leave those to grilled cheese sandwiches demanded by Ave on a whim! We know who really cracks the whip and it’s no clock.

Congratulations on your City Hippie Company’s growth! I would have bet on it’s succes after making and ordering some mighty tasty Let me know when your stock goes public, I want in.

Looking forward to any posts of the future, because I missed you for two weeks! No guilt there, whatsoever! I am a huge proponent of self care and putting on new shoes when the old ones get too comfortable. Or uncomfortable… Blow kisses

A gals weekend sounds magical, mostly because I’ll take and an all breaks from the tiny human I can. Never say good-bye.

As long as you keep writing. And as long as there is more granola for me to eat.

And to respond to your email – you KNOW that granola was delicious. Your nut to oat ratio is on POINT lady. On. Point.

You know I love you and have taken a huge amount from this link up that you birthed. I will be forever grateful for the lessons, the fun and the friends that it has given me. Now – onto new things!

Can’t wait to keep following along <3

I’m so glad you were able to glean so much from this link up. It makes me happy and I know we will stay in touch, hopefully always. There’s friendship and granola to be had. Oh and the ratio is equal parts nuts to oats. That’s the secret.

Yours is one of a handful of blogs where I read all the posts. I loved these posts but I also love your others too. It sounds like you’re following your gut with what you need right now and that’s awesome. I’m very happy that it’s not goodbye to blogging – just this one part of it.

And toddlers in overalls are too ridiculously cute. The new thing over here is wearing pants on arms and shirts on legs 🙂

Well done! I am glad for you on so many levels, but most especially for making your own choices!

And the Loaded Tater Tots please. Here in the Minnesota tater tots are a Thing. Like, we walk over to the Blue Door Pub to get a Blucy (it’s a Juicy Lucy with blue cheese and you’ll have to google the rest if that doesn’t make no sense) and it comes with a side of the best damn tots I’ve ever had.
Tonight my not-so-tiny humans are making Midwest Mashup Hot Dish (Cincy chili meets tater tot casserole) and there will be tots.

My lovely I am so thankful you created this weekly link up for us all. When I started doing week in review consistently just over a year ago I realised how much joy I had from recapping my week. It’s amazing how focusing on the big and small achievements for the week make you feel so good about yourself, especially if it’s been a tough week. Now, I do week in review mostly as a newsletter of sorts to folk back home, updating them on what we have been doing this past week. Stopping the link up has actually allowed me to review my why with this and I have decided to change to doing a review every two weeks. This allows me more time to write and focus on the podcast which is my priority this year. So many areas of the ‘old school blogging world’ are coming to an end now or changing and I really feel the time is right for it. I feel ready for it. So I send lots of thank you kisses and look forward to the next chapter for both of us.
Oh and apple cheddar biscuits please… You know how much I love your biscuits!
