Week in Review: The Thankful Edition (#160)

November 26, 2018 by Meghan 20 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

The Thanksgiving holiday has me feeling all sorts of giddy, mainly because I’m not Native American, which means I get to keep my land and heritage without fear of recrimination. Cultural genocide aside, I am incredibly thankful and privileged, and it’s good to recognize it from time to time.

Let’s get listing:

I’m thankful for…

A sleeping child; always. We’re working on our very last molar, which means we’ve had a few cantankerous moments; mommy included. Sleep helps.

I’m thankful for City Hippie. The support has been overwhelming in the very best way. To show my thanks, I updated the site to include a Granola of the Month Club and a Variety/Sampler Package, both of which make great gifts for the holidays. Just sayin’.

(One day I will stop plugging my business on the blog. Today is not that day.)

Speaking of support, I had a handful of friends cook my recipes on Thanksgiving. To know people are making and loving my food feels all kinds of awesome.

(Scalloped Sweet Potatoes with Bechamel Cream Sauce, Raisins and Candied Walnuts)

The combination of crispy roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet blackberries and salty bacon make a unique, yet perfect pairing of flavors.(Blackberry Bacon Brussels Sprouts)

I’m thankful for some warmer weather days so we could put up the outdoor Christmas lights. We’re getting the tree this weekend, and I think the tiny human might explode with excitement.

Last but not least, I’m thankful for humor. Laughter really is the best medicine.

(I might have given her a few suggestions, although she approved every word.)

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Ave’s letter to Santa is just too cute! Except for the part about being nice to Republicans. She’s just saying that to score points with Mr. Claus, right? 😉

Probably, although the little dear doesn’t actually know what a Republican is yet. I might have influenced her just a bit. 😉

I love your blog. . You have a great mix of being deep while being funny. Squish is on her very last molar too-thank god. This last week was fun. I was off work the whole week so we did lots of fun things. Took her to visit Santa – no tears! Confusion but no tears. Took her to her parents and Tot dance class. She’s going to be in a Christmas concert this year which is going to be both adorable and hilarious.

She’s going to be in a Christmas concert!!! I’m so excited for both her and you, and I want to see a picture.

Damn these molars; I’ll be so glad when they’re done.

Also, thank you, thank you for the lovely compliment. I try to keep it real while still maintaining a sense of humor. It’s way easier to laugh than cry, right?! 🙂

Ha! I adore Ave for respecting Republicans because I while there are a few that I do, even if I don’t agree with them politically, I am working hard on finding a shred of respect many others.

We are grateful for our kids turning out fine after some questionable incidents throughout all of their coming-up years. Especially that all four stayed close and still speak to us, and for allowing their kids to visit any time. It’s all about family, especially during the stressful times of the holidays. Not the stuff or the decorations.

I too, am grateful for this blog, my special to come with my coffee and a treat.

Respect is a tough thing these days when we can’t respect human life for all. Sigh.

I’m so glad your family is all intact and in touch. At the end of the day, that’s really all that matters. Coffee, good reading and a treat help too.

You should never stop “plugging” your business! It’s exciting and a big deal. I’m thankful the tiny human has been sleeping more too, sleep is pure gold for everyone involved. I’m thankful for my family and their endless support, and for upcoming adventures.

It must be so magical and amazing now that Ave is of an age to understand and really marvel in the wonder of the holidays. I can imagine her reactions to so many things are priceless.
Love the idea of granola of the month club. I mean who wouldn’t want that as a gift!? Defintely a gift I would have given David if I could have, he would have loved it!

We spent the first 20 minutes of the day this morning, snuggled up on her floor singing Christmas carols. It was awesome.
