Week in Review: Food, Babies, and Breakdowns (#24)

March 28, 2016 by Meghan 48 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.

Week In Review Button Final

Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

I worked six days in a row and over fifty hours on the job. Ouch.

I fed myself several times a day. Yes, they were predominantly meals purchased or prepared for me by someone else, which has little bearing to me anymore. Open mouth, insert food.

I was super successful in bringing my fork to my mouth and only managed to spill minimal amounts on Oscar and the bump.

Lucky's Apple Caramel Waffles

Bold Salad

Veggie Wrap and Rice and Beans

Lucky's Mac and Cheese

Not surprisingly, I soaked in the bathtub daily. At some point, I might put Prince Charming to shame and turn into a raisin or a prune, with or without a kiss. For now though, water is… ♫ where it’s at. I got two turntables and a microphone. ♫

I had a mini breakdown at Babies R Us on Friday. Totally normal behavior this close to the end or so I’m told. Four weeks and counting.

I got a massage on Saturday which did wonders, albeit temporarily, for my fragile mental and physical state.

Massage Therapy

I vacuumed out the car, which was desperately needed. Clean car first, baby seat installation second. Gulp.

I paid bills, did our finances, and ran errands, including a visit to my beloved Nature’s Bin and the Breadsmith.

Nature's Bin

I did a decent job of staying fairly current with BlogLovin. Dusts off shoulder.

I cheered on the Hubby and my father in law while they painted half the nursery a subtle shade of grey. The mural, which we left untouched, came with the house.

Nursery Grey Walls

I penned twenty-five thank you cards with more to come. I am so appreciative and grateful for all the support. Blows kiss.

I started tackling all the baby gifts, with the help of my mother in law, which including sorting, organizing and laundering. Holy baby stuff Batman.

Baby Stuff

I made a fantastic spur of the moment veggie stuffed calzone for dinner on Saturday. It was packed with Brussel sprouts and asparagus, and the Hubby, who detests those gorgeous green globes, went back for seconds and then thirds.

I spent Sunday at the in-laws, where we had a low key and super tasty Easter Brunch.

Belgium Waffle with Berries and Yogurt

Carrot Cake

I didn’t really want to leave the house. I’m so glad I did. Plus, they sent me home with extra carrot cake.

It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Extra carrot cake and frosting definitely worth it! That mural is no joke, good thing you can put it to good use, so cute 🙂 And the baby stuff will grow and grow, it will become toys and art projects, and it will overwhelm your entire life!

You should see the rest of the mural. It’s an entire tea party scene complete with Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter. 🙂

The baby stuff is already threatening to take over and she’s not even here yet. Gulp.

Waiiiiiit a sec- is it really only a month till the baby comes around?? I am sure you will beg to differ but your pregnancy flew by!! I am sure once the baby is born, you will embrace it all more than you realise…and do a damn good job at it too!

Your in-laws seem to be quite the chefs- I don’t know what makes me drool more, those waffles or that frosting!!

I am so impressed and happy you kept up that mural – i feel like many people may have painted over it. It’s special and fabulous!! She’s going to love it.
Keep on letting people take care of your food so you can continue to take care of those baths and massages and toy store breakdowns. You are the queen right now. Take care this week 🙂

We actually kept the mural all these years because it was clear how much work and artistry went into creating it. We couldn’t cover it up and called it a conversation piece instead. Granted, it’s also why we had to turn the guest bedroom into the nursery and the office into the new guest bedroom. Funny how life works out sometimes.

Ah breakdowns in Toy R Us! Just wait till you bring your kid there. My sister was the champion at crying in the toy store. It was so embarrassing! She wanted everything and my mom would just simply leave the store and wait for her to follow. She always did lol
A calzone sounds great right now, but stuffed with peanut butter and jelly. Yum!

Hmm, 3 things I accomplished in the last week?

Well, I finished my Leap and the Net Will Appear class, which was all about steps I can take to creative positive change in my life and weave my own net.

    Doin’ that.

I had a delightful mammogram, truly, with a friendly and efficient warm-handed technician. It’s not because I haven’t seen the spouse in over 5 months either, it was really a nice experience and I probably won’t wait another 6 years before my next one.

I attended my 2nd Women in Business Networking Koffee Talk (I did not pick the spelling) and vastly improved my ‘elevator speech’ about what it is that I do.

I’ve got my alarm set on the phone every night to remind me to take the blood pressure pills I was put on 21 days ago, and I added to the reminder 3 things. Now, I take my pill, I say something that I am grateful for from the day, I say something I accomplished during the day, and I say what my intention is for the following day. It’s pretty cool.

    Have a lovely week!

I think your phone reminder coupled with your three things is wonderful. Positivity breeds positivity.

Also, I need a OBGYN who has nice hands and a gentle touch, not just because it’s been months for me either. 🙂

Apart from that everything else sounds and looks pretty nice 🙂 We had plans to go have some Easter celebrations with my in-laws as well but half of my family got sick and we got the Easter Sunday off family duties. I didn’t hate it because we got to finish the living room. Now I feel like a bad person 😛

Melt downs happen, pregnant or not, sometimes it’s healthy to get the stress out of your system. 4 weeks!!!! So exciting!

I’m a fan of all shades of grey for rooms and furniture. Not to be confused with 50 shades of grey… Honestly I want our baby room to be grey and cream, with pastel accents. Who knows if this will happen considering we haven’t even moved (or packed) but I’m hopeful.
I’m too exhausted to form words currently, it’s been like a tornado of activity and I’d like a nap. That massage sounds grand. I’m seeing my chiropractor Friday before our last minute departure from the country on Sunday. We are both crazy and spontaneous and complicated. I guess that’s why we love each other:)
