Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week was one of our more relaxed weeks of the summer. We weren’t traveling anywhere, we didn’t have company or any big outings. It was nice and as chill as life can be with a “wild” two year old (her words, not mine).
Let’s get listing:
We played pretend a lot: tennis, driving, grocery shopping, eating Breadsmith samples (my favorite form of pretend), opening presents, and cooking dinner. The tiny dictator is all about make believe these days, and I’m indulging her creative spirit, even when it means chasing dinosaurs or rolling on the floor like a cat. My life is so glamorous.
We exercised a lot, a couple runs, a spinning class, a weight lifting class, bike rides, some action on the elliptical and laps up and down the street with the mini minion. Ave loves to exercise, which includes but is not limited to running, jumping, skipping, walking and dancing. Her love for fitness makes me one proud (and yes sappy) parent.
I’m a glutton for punishment (see note about exercise above), so I invited Ave’s bestie over for a couple of hours and watched the two of them solo. They had a blast, made a “pretend” cake, and ran around like animals, while I made sure they stayed alive. Mission accomplished.
We also went out for ice cream, which has happily become a weekly occurrence. We needed something to balance out all that movement, and who doesn’t love a good splash of sprinkles?
Ave and I spent Sunday morning living our best life, at the beach. Even though it was just the two of us and one ginormous flight of stone stairs leading to the beach, it went remarkably smooth, and I’m thinking we should do this more often while the temperatures justify it.
Tiny human aside, I started watching Orange is the New Black and can safely say I’m hooked. I like to think it’s a step above the Housewives, although I do not and will not apologize for my love of sleazy television.
I shared a recipe for Kohlrabi Noodles in Thai inspired curry sauce. When it comes to this quirky vegetable, it’s a game changer, and I gleefully and not so gracefully slurped it right up.
The vast majority of my free time though went to working on potentially turning my granola recipes into a business. I did a cost analysis on six of the flavors, created a name, designed a logo, filed an LLC, and put together a pretty sharp product, if I do say so myself. As for the next step, I have no idea, but I’ll figure it out.
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What is something you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. What do you think of my new granola design, City Hippie? Any suggestions on where (and how) to market it?

Can I say I feel relaxed from reading all you last week’s activities?
We are having a heat wave here and between 10 am and 7 pm I am completely useless. So not much activity is happening here if you don’t count several showers a day and extensive googling how much an AC would cost!
Selling your granola is an AWESOME idea!!!! Your packaging looks perfect and the name is very fitting! If I lived in your area I’d be a returning customer! <3 Good luck and I am crossing my fingers like crazy for you!

Thanks lovely and welcome back. I missed you, and I can’t wait to curl up on your balcony one day. It looks like perfection, even in the heat. It’s so hot here too, and I’m so grateful for the AC. Some days, we barely leave the house because just standing outside makes me sweat.

I am so unbelievably jazzed about you starting a business with your granola. Seriously, it was only a matter of time! This is perfect!! Only thing is now this is going to make me just want to buy it rather than bake up a batch myself, which has been at the top of my foodie list for a very long time now. Need to squash those granola making fears of mine.
Your week sounds so lovely. Like all the lovely things that life is about. Must be such a fun phase that Ave is in, with all the make believe and mohawk helmets and friend dates. You’re a brave and awesome mama. And now I really, really want sprinkles.

An entrepreneur! You are the rare Mom, that one in a million who does it all! That was my dream, and I am so happy that you found and picked up the torch!
I don’t know where you find the energy, except that at your age, I had it too! I’d like some now, yes please.
Sometimes having a playmate over for a few hours is almost as good a babysitter! I did it often. Really, playing with mom all of the days gets as old, for, them as it does for us.
What is my list for this week? I gained another year….64 now, one year away from Medicare, ack! Actually I don’t mind a bit because having the appreciation and contentment for the relationships and family, marriage that I have now is and knowing who I am, why Im am on this earth, has taken all of these years to really settle. I wouldn’t trade that for any years.
It’s hard to believe that Ave has grown so fast. She is as cute as a button, as always.
Meghan says
Playmates really do make good babysitters. Instead of getting on the floor and rolling around, I get to supervise which is so much easier. 🙂
Happy Birthday Lovely!! I hope it was magical.

Glad you got to relax a bit! Your summer has been looking crazy.
I loved playing pretend growing up so I totally get where Ave is coming from.
I mean if you can’t have pretend cake ice cream with sprinkles is a perfect substitute I’m sure.
OMG!!! That’s amazing about the granola business. The where to market = Dallas so I can get my hands on some too!

This week has been loads of craziness again and we’re going out of town this weekend so it pretty much never really stops. 🙂 Ah the life of a parent to a toddler.

Your granola packaging is snazzy! It looks all ready to get snatched up off the shelves. I would say sell it at Farmers’ Markets, but it may be too late in the season to snag a booth? Around here some of the coffee shops and cafes sell packaged local food products, maybe that’s something to look into?
Meghan says
Coffee shops and cafes is a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I really appreciate it.

I LOVE it!!!! I’m so proud of you. Do I get free samples? You know, for QA… 😉
Also, enjoy OITNB while it lasts. The last two seasons get WEIRD.
Meghan says
Yes, you will always get free samples. It’s a small list, but you’re definitely on it. Blows kiss.

Ooh! Good luck with the granola. Got any plans for a low-carb (low net carbs, that is) variety? I LOVE Ave’s helmet/mohawk. That is awesome. Also jealous of the beach, although my brother just rented an Air BnB for a week for the family just off Padre Island in October. (We used to take family vacations there every summer.)
Meghan says
Sorry, my granola is full of oats and nuts so lots of carbs.
That’s awesome about the upcoming family vacation, and doubly so because it’s an old vacation spot.

Jen @ Chase the Red Grape says
Holy crap Meg that’s huge!!!!! What an awesome business idea! Everyone loves granola and it’s something that no one tends to make from scratch but are willing to buy. Have you tried looking into a farmers market stall? We have a couple of granola stalls at our local market and they do really well and are always popular. They also serve breakfast from their stall (as well as selling the granola) doing granola bowls with yoghurt, almond milk or coconut yoghurt.
I look forward to hearing all about your next steps!
Meghan says
I haven’t gotten much past getting the product together and I’m still looking into regulations but your suggestion and your email full of ideas is much appreciated. Seriously, I’m so grateful for the feedback and clever ideas. You rock. Thank you!!
