Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I went into my office to pick up my things and say good-bye. It was bittersweet.
(My old view.)
I spent hours catching up on and responding to my personal and blog related email. My inbox is now down to seven emails. Boom!
I did a fairy decent job of feeding the Hubby and myself during the week. We had tons of homemade oatmeal, salads, egg, bean and corn filled burritos, veggie filled pasta (courtesy of the Hubby), fattoush dip, lots of green beans, bunches of fried eggs and pizza.
I published three posts: my WIR, a WIAW and the highly entertaining, at least in my not so humble opinion, Things I Never Thought I’d Say Out Loud.
I worked in my planner. Insert giddy squealing here. What can I say? It appeals to my type A personality. Plus did I mention there are stickers involved?
I hit up Nature’s Bin multiple times and not just because they have garlic scapes for sale, which reminds me I need to go back for more. Maybe I’ll bring Ave next time.
Speaking of the baby, we got into a new schedule where we give her a bath every other night, and on the off days, we head to the park for a stroller walk. Thus far, it’s been working well. It’s also my only exercise these days, so I’ll take it.
We spent the better part of Tuesday chasing a nap since Ave tends to get a little (cough, a lot, cough) cranky when she doesn’t get her zzz’s. Obviously she takes after her momma.
(I double dog dare you to take my elephant.)
We went to our lactation support group on Wednesday.
We nursed for 8.5 hours.
The Hubby and I watched Despicable Me 2. We’re vetting movies for when Ave gets older. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
The highlight on the week though was a date night with the Hubby and some good friends. Booze, salad, pizza, and dessert enjoyed outside, while listening to live music across the street; it doesn’t get much better than that.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?

8,5h? That’s amazing. Your new routine sounds wonderful. Going for a walk in the park every other evening especially in summer is a very nice form of excercise. Though I’d argue carrying Ave for multiple hours is also a kind of excercise. The strenuous one!
Also I love all your food and I was so excited for your date night when I saw it on snapchat!
And that planner!!! 😀
P.S. I still need to read your last post. Tonight at home with a glass of wine so I can fully appreciate it!

I agree. My right shoulder and arm definitely have Ave’s name written all over them; not literally of course. She can’t hold a pen yet. 🙂

Glad the new routine is working well for you guys- sounds like you guys got loads done! As for nursing for 8.5 hours, omg, I wince at the thought- you are a stronger woman than I…not that I would know for now haha! That fried egg/butter toast plate looks glorious- sometimes it really is all about simplicity!!

8.5 hours is so much better than the 30 hours of nursing we were doing at the beginning. I’ll take it.
Simple is best.

Why do all your posts always make me want pizza???? They always look SO good 🙂 Sounds like a really good routine you got figured out there, enjoy the time outside while the weather is nice and non-wintery (it is coming…. I can sense it).
ps Your old view looks pretty spectacular. But new view with baby Ave is much better. Even if it involves the occasional milky spit-up.
Meghan says
Because pizza is amazing and I happen to eat it weekly, whether by my own hands or someone else’s. 🙂
New view is way better. 🙂

Kirsten says
Making creme brûlée at work helped me clue in to what the whole prep kitchen thing means–as nobody wants to wait an hour + for their dessert at a restaurant, you know?
During the day, a prep cook combined eggs and cream and sugar and vanilla, poured it into that ramekin along with a dozen or more others, and baked them in an oven for over an hour. After they cooled, the cook wrapped up each ramekin individually and stored it in a fridge.
When you ordered your dessert, the ramekin was brought out of the fridge, unwrapped, topped with more sugar, and hit with a torch to caramelize before being served to you.
The More You Know!
Glad you’ve got a groove!

Haha I started my comment and then realized it started the same way as Juli’s. …. 8.5 hours eh? Definitely some sliding numbers these last few weeks. Congrats!
And I also second that being Ave’s main form of transportation is a pretty good form of exercise. That being said nothing beats an evening walk, especially when its still light and the air is warm…mmm…. so I’m glad you are getting in this movement for yourself.
Yes to that date out with friends! That must have felt SO good. Your cheese ooze shot on IG last week had me seriously salivating. And your TOL post, as always, set me up for a happy day.

I’m loving the evening walks because it gets us up and moving after dinner. Plus, it’s really time I get to spend catching up with the Hubby since Ave isn’t a huge talker these days, unless of course you count babbling. 🙂 She’s great at that.

I have only seen Dispicable Me 2. I didn’t see the first one, nor have I seen Minions. I do think they are adorable, and having a few minions around would make my life a lot easier. Mostly if they could entertain my cats that would be fantastic 🙂 Do you batch cook oatmeal or make it each day?
Meghan says
I really liked the first Despicable Me. It was cute and funny.
I do not batch cook my oatmeal. Should I be?

If it makes you feel better I have to watch all the latest kids movies so I have something to talk with my clients about at work 😉

All that food – you’re putting other new mums to shame. Me, too, actually, as I’ve been lazy regarding food prep lately. Send me some of the fattoush and that pasta, please?
If you haven’t watched it before you shoud definitely add Finding Nemo to your list of films to ‘vet’ for Ave. And Concussion obviously, though that one not for her. Finally one you can actually enjoy ;).
You said it in your comment already but I can’t believe how fast Ave is growing up, either. Can’t her and P. stay in that adorable little baby phase a smidgen longer? The sound of your new routine is great. We’ve been going on family walks far more often since P.’s birth and I’m enjoying it a lot.
Also, I’m still jealous of your planner.

Ave sleeps a holy shitton at night so that really helps. That and the Hubby watches the baby at night while I cook dinner. Sometimes we rotate but it’s usually me because I’m a little bit more efficient in the kitchen. We make a good team. I have no idea how single parents do it.
You need to get a planner. They’re so much fun.

I can imagine it would be very hard to leave a view like that. Are you relocating? Starting a new job? Taking some time off from work? Whatever the case, I hope the change turns out to be a positive one.
I might have to fight Ave for that elephant. It’s pretty dang cute.
I always think planners look so cute and I want to have one like that–and then I realize that I’m actually a highly disorganized person and never remember to write anything down or check the thing to remember what I need to do. 😛 I am very Type A about certain things and very not Type A about others.
Have a great week!

No judgement from me in watching kids movies, david and I are suckers for them. We even go to the cinema to watch them, who says you need kids!?! Although it’s Ab Fab the movie on the cards this weekend – polar opposite! Can’t wait!

You’ve been a beast with the blog posts lately- I’m just catching up now and was happy to find multiple posts in my reader.
I recently got a job as a teaching assistant at a preschool for the school year (which is the same place as the camp I’m working at now)…so I celebrated in the only way I know how and bought a plane ticket to Europe over Thanksgiving. I miiight be more excited for the trip, but all in all, a solid week.
Meghan says
I have been killing it with blog posts. Boom! Can you tell I’m pleased with myself. Hopefully I can keep it up, although the Hubby starts his new job today so I’ll be flying solo for the foreseeable future.
I think a European holiday is the perfect way to celebrate. Good for you and congrats on the job!

8.5 hours?! Holy snap! That’s not bad at all! Weren’t you doing 40 at one point?? Damn. I still can’t imagine that. But I guess that’s why you can do so many more things now – you’re kicking some serious ass, boo! An also making me extremely hungry in the process. Also… I love that you used a hydrate sticker to remind you to water the -plants- 😛
Meghan says
Funny story: I realized people use those hydrate stickers for themselves, and you color in a drop with each glass of water you drink. Oops, I like my watering the plants usage better. 🙂
Can you believe the decrease in hours nursing? I’m still amazed and loving it too, by the way.
Heather Shoberg says
Sounds like a good week… I can imagine it would be a little strange to be picking up your things from work for the last time. I always work at places where anyone leaving gets a full-on escort and is treated like a criminal. I think I’ll just sneak out of my job when I decide to quit.
Does Ave love her baths? I was crazy enough to give my son a bath every single night for the longest time and then realized that wasn’t going to happen when his sister was born and then their bath nights dragged out further and further and now I only do it when they absolutely need to. Haha. Okay, they get at least 2-3 baths a week, sometimes more if they’re particularly sweaty in the summer.
Stickers make everything better.
Heather Shoberg recently posted…Currently!
Meghan says
Ave does love the bath. We’ve been rotating between the baths and a walk because I’m trying to put in place some kind of nighttime schedule and also because it’s something to do with her. I can only handle so much play mat, story time, or other shenanigans in my day. By the evening, I’m ready for something different so the baths are as much for me as they are for her. 🙂

Your weeks just inspire me!! I foresee many opportunities for fun in the future. I can’t go too long without adult fun of some sort so my kid has basically got to adapt to stuff quick. Ok fingers crossed. We took her out a couple times and we were 1 for 1. Luckily she’s fiercely assertive and has no problem telling me , “hey mom, put your wine/book/phone/iPad down and give me some attention! Now! There is no mistaking who’s the boss in our house currently. Hence why every time I try to catch up on blog reading she lets me know I should be doing other things. She’s definitely my girl. I’m totally ok with her communicating. I might be the only mom who is proud of her fussing baby in public but to me, she’s communicating and I like that! Speak up child, it’s a big world out there. Go after what you want!

What a wonderful perspective. A fussy baby means someone willing to voice their opinions. I love it.
Keep doing small things like taking her out. It will get easier and easier for the both of you. That being said, I’ve realized I can only do about one outing a day with my wee one because otherwise she gets overstimulated and misses her naps. Poor thing. Some babies are baby able to adapt without issue. It’s amazing how different they all are.
