The Great GMO Debate

October 15, 2012 by Meghan 7 Comments

Have I got a short one for you today…..

Sometimes big is not always better, which is especially true when it comes to political posts. Long winded rhetoric hardly ever works since most people already have their minds set and their ears closed. So here is a short blurb for my friends in California. I’m going to use the best of the best to convey my message…

Celebrities, because everybody knows they’re perfect. Or at least widely recognizable.

Does anybody else find it ironic that the cast of Sunny in Philadelphia, with the most deviant characters possible, came out to support labeling GMO’s.

What are your thoughts on GMO’S? Would you be opposed to labeling them?

I think it’s great people want to change something and start supporting the labeling of GMO’s. My only concern is do the celebs REALLY care? Or are they just doing it to get paid or whatever?

It’s a good question, but at least they bringing attention to the issue.

My thoughts on GMO’s? They will be the end of real food as we know it. We already are loosing out on organic crops because of cross-pollination from monsanto-type farms. Do we think we can really trick our bodies into processing GMO’s and other crap-like “food stuff”? Hell no! What we ARE accomplishing is a degradation of our own genetic code. Remember…. you are what you eat. How sad that my children’s children may never know the taste of a real apple, tomato, strawberry, etc…. BOO. How do I feel about labeling? PLEASE DO IT! I want a big black skull and cross bones on that shit so I know to stay away.

We are what we eat….ain’t that the truth. I think it’s crazy a law doesn’t already exist, forcing companies to label this stuff. I’d at least like to be able to make informed decision about the food I decide to consume.

Actually, I’m in Cali and I’m totally against this legislation. I think GMOs are horrible and there’s no way I want to eat them (and hate the gov’t for even allowing them)…..but the legislation has a ton of holes in it and passing this bill will only make the cost of food go up without cutting down on gmos….Not to get all political…I just think they need to re-write it before we pass something like this

Thanks for your thoughts. It’s always interesting to hear another side of the argument. I would love to hear more specifics about the holes in the bill so I can educate myself and anybody reading this. Especially if it makes for stronger legislation backing the labeling of GMO’s.

Haha I love it’s always sunny! that show cracks me up.

I think they should have to label GMO’s. It’s not outlawing them, it’s just letting people know what they’re eating!
