I’ve decided to forego the classic Week In Review post today for bigger and greener pastures because I’m a rule breaker.
Truth be told, I’m normally the opposite. I love plans, schedules, structures and most importantly lists. In fact, I think I started another half-dozen lists this very weekend.
Let’s all take a moment for a contented sigh at the creation of more lists.
Very good.
I also hosted some very lovely friends for the weekend, who are the very best kind of friends; the kind of friends who not only accept your food blogger ways, but embrace them, cooking and allow me to photograph our meals. Those lucky ducks.
It also means instead of reviewing my ins and outs of the last week, today I’m sharing Sunday brunch for four instead.
Basically, I’m breaking the rules of my own link-up, but since I feel like having company on back to back weekends is enough of a justification for straying off the beaten path, I’m good with it. I suspect you are too, especially since brunch is involved.
Bon Appétit.
Cucumber Mint Water; hydration is important.
Farm Fresh Fried Eggs and Rosemary Roasted Potatoes.
Orange Slices and Blueberries artistically arranged; but, of course.
The final spread, complete with Sun-dried Tomato Basil Bread.
Just a hint of yolk porn because sadly that’s all I could drum up.
You can use the spatula or your fingers because we’re classy here.
One last look.
“And like that….[it’s] gone.”
Now that you’re all sufficiently salivating (at least I am reliving it), I think you should link-up and get your list on. Try to follow the rules too, would ya?!
——————————————————————————————-
Interested in participating in the Week In Review…good, you should be.
Here’s how it works:
- Your post should be about all the things you accomplished in the last seven days or so.
- Your post can be about food, social outings, workouts, home improvement projects, fun excursions, none of the above, or all of the above. The idea is to recognize all the things you accomplished in the past seven days. It’s an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back. Plus you get to write in list form, which rocks my socks. Although if you want to stick to prose go ahead; it’s your world.
- Add the Week in Review button to your post, link back to Clean Eats, Fast Feets and get your list on.
- Or you can be like me and make up own your rules. If you can justify it, I’ll accept it. How’s that for lenient?
What did you do in the last week or so? Have you hosted any company lately? What’s the largest crowd you’ve ever fed?

Everything looks delicious, Meghan. When it comes to the “rules” of WIR, I think I like flexibility within the constructs. I feel it’s all about sharing and regardless of you you approach it, I like being part and sharing. My WIR posts are rarely structured…oh, you didn’t notice that?! I just plain Love WIR…that’s all I have to say!
Meghan says
I’m glad you like it Fran; I do too. Flexibility within structure…I like that.
Christine@ Apple of My Eye says
What a perfect looking brunch! That yolk definitely caught my attention 😉
Meghan says
Yolk porn always catches my eye.

That cucumber mint water looks so refreshing. I’ve seen a lot of recipes on here involving mint and I just haven’t talked myself into using it yet. I like mint in the candy mint form as well as in peppermint tea, but I’m just not sure I can eat it on food. Before typing this out though I hadn’t realized that I’ve actually drank mint-flavored beverages before. I haven’t in awhile since it’s so hot, but maybe I should try out icing my peppermint tea. I bet that’d be good 🙂
Meghan says
Iced peppermint tea sounds really good. I think you should try it, and also try adding it to your water too. It’s really refreshing.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Can I come over for brunch?? 😉 Those potatoes sound amazing, and there is nothing better than fried dippy eggs, especially when dipped in bread. And speaking of bread…tomato basil bread sounds amazing!
Meghan says
The tomato basil was really good, and I agree fried dippy eggs are the bomb. You’re welcome for brunch anytime.
Sarah Pie says
All those beautifully fried eggs and you couldn’t save one for me? (not that I didn’t eat enough of my own this weekend…) That looks like an amazing spread, you have very lucky friends!
I love drinking anything mint-y in the summer when everything gets hot and sticky.
Meghan says
Yours is in my fridge, waiting patiently for you, I might add.
It’s a mutual beneficial friendship. They help me cook, and in turn they get to eat some good food.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Ahhhh… all the skillet #yolkporn! I die.
Meghan says
So much yolk porn, so little time.
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance says
What a delicious looking breakfast!! Sundried tomato basil bread sounds soooo good . . . dipped in a little olive oil, and I think I’d be in heaven.
Meghan says
It’d be fabulous dipped in some olive oil.
Khushboo says
Er I might be thousands of miles away but I want to come over..stat! Your guests sure are lucky- love the little touches like cucumber mint water and artistically presented fruit!
Meghan says
Thanks. I think I’m pretty lucky too since they were my kitchen helpers.
Olivia @ Liv Lives Life says
Wow, when are you next hosting brunch? Can I come? 😉 Seriously good looking eats here!
Meghan says
Yep, you are welcome anytime.
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
I think I want potatoes, cabbage, and eggs for breakfast/brunch tomorrow. We’ve been hermits and have not hosted anyone in over a month. I’m actually OK with that.
For a change I have my (sad) Map My Walk stats–they never showed up last week–so I will post them. Know that I’m off to a better start this week, I’m trying to do about a 5K a day.
12 workouts
10 routes
19.6 total dist. (miles)
6.9 hours
1.761 Triscuits worth of exercise.
And 4 tomatoes–I’ve enjoyed 4 fresh farm tomatoes this week. 2 in Breakfast BLTs, 1 on an everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, and capers, and one large one chopped up with a cucumber, green olives, chick peas, artichokes, mizritha cheese (next time feta), and leftover pita chips. Kind of a Greek panzanella. I dolloped (I really did) some Avocado-Mizritha dip over top. Amazing.
Oh! I also bought 3 gallons of whole milk Friday morning, and by Sunday night there was maybe a quart left. Plus ice cream, mozzarella, ricotta, and whey.
Meghan says
Wow, now that’s an impressive and efficient use of time and milk. I’m also quite jealous of your tomatoes. We’re only getting one a week in the CSA, and they just go so darn quickly.
Luv What You Do says
That is one impressive brunch!
So I have mint growing now and I will have to try it with cucumber. I tried lemon and LOVED it!
Meghan says
Yes, mint and lemon go great together. I highly recommend it.
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Oh god I love brunch!
Meghan says
You and me both.
Kate says
Seems to me that your guests are very lucky to count you as a friend. Bravo on a fab brunch!
Meghan says
Thanks. I happen to think I’m the lucky one to have such great friends over. Plus, they did half the work, while I got to photograph everything. They are welcome ANY time. 🙂
Kathy @ FoodWineThyme says
Those farm fresh eggs are calling my name
Meghan says
I hear ya. My eggs often talk to me, but I hear there’s a pill for that.
Allie says
I like how you break your own rules! Because this meal deserved a post all its own. Especially since I KNOW how good your eggs and roast veggies are! And your cucumber water. I tried at home, and it’s just not as refreshing! It makes no sense, but it’s a fact. However, I DO feel this brunch would have benefited from a mimosa. Unless you were hiding something in those OJ glasses…
Meghan says
Now that’s ridiculous. I bet your cucumber water is just as good, maybe even better since they’re direct from your garden. I think we need to have a taste test-off. We could use mimosa’s to cleanse out palettes in between. 😉
Sara says
yum yum yum. All of those things look AMAZING. I love cucumber water!
Meghan says
Thanks. I think cucumber water is so refreshing.
