Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
Last week was crazy busy, so much so I barely managed to take any pictures. Blogging fail equals real life win, although I did document a lot of shenanigans on Snap Chat. My obsession knows no bounds.
In addition to a whole lot of monkeying around, Ave and I hit up our weekly lactation support group, and we nursed for a total of 6.5 hours last week.
We also went to Mommy and Me story time at the local library. We were a tiny bit late (read a lot) and only caught the last two minutes of the class. We did read a book together, so it still counts, although we may have to work on our punctuality. In my defense (I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by attorneys, of course I have a defense), I thought the class was an hour long, as opposed to half that. C’est la vie.
The kid and I ran a shitton of errands together, including two trips to Nature’s Bin, a visit to Breadsmith, a short jaunt to CVS and a stroll through Pet Supplies. We know how to rage.
On Sunday, we had a play date with my girlfriend and her two kids.
I increased my posting by 300%, and I officially declared myself a “mommy blogger” and shared a recipe for some healthy veggie packed pasta. Who says you can’t have your baby and eat it too? Hmm, that doesn’t sound quite right.
Carrying on, I sneaked in two runs, one with the babe and one flying solo. Both were brilliant, mainly because I actually did them. Insert pat on the back here.
I had a visit from a friend on Tuesday morning, followed by dinner on Wednesday night with some other wonderful women. You knew the social butterfly part of this post had to rear it’s ugly head sooner or later.
I also went to ladies night out on Friday where wine was consumed. On Saturday, the whole family celebrated one of my besties ten year wedding anniversary at the winery where she got married. More wine was consumed. Not a bad way to spend a weekend if you ask me.
In less exciting news, I responded to email, played in my planner, and did our finances, with Oscar’s help of course. He might not have opposable thumbs but he’s a whiz at math and makes a fantastic blanket.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week, big or small?
Juli@1000lovelythings says
Your snapchat story is my favorite. And you acted out the monkey perfectly. I watched the one with the banana after a crap day at work and it cheered me up so much!
I am glad you had such a social week and enjoyed your time out. And I completely agree, you read a book together, so it counts!

The banana eating monkey was a favorite of mine too. 🙂
I’m so glad you hear you love my snaps. I always figure it’s boring, although that’s fine by me. It’s my life, I’m good with it.

do you know I still don’t snapchat? I want nothing to do with another platform but it does look fun! also, my son told me I am not allowed to use snapchat because I am too old. ha

SnapChat is by far my favorite of all the platforms. You need to get on it, partially just to prove your son wrong. I will warn you though it’s not super intuitive, at least not at first. Totally worth it though.

Omg If I had a baby I would constantly be using snapchat filters and having so much fun with it. And wine any weekend sounds fabulous, especially at a winery! Thanks for the link up, have a great week!

Okay. I really think its time for me to get snapchat. I want it just so I can see all these shenanigans of yours I’m missing out on.
The ends of books are the best part anyways, aren’t they?
Huge high fives for getting out on two runs – those must have felt glorious – and for all the wine and friend time. See? You may be a “mommy blogger” but you still got that mean swagger!

Haven’t gotten into snapchat! I do think if I was home with a baby now I’d have fun with it though, I used to do extremely old school mom/baby selfies with an actual camera so snapchat would’ve been nice!

Once I went to a talk at my library and had to leave halfway because I needed to poop so bad, I was afraid for the safety of the person next to me. However the guy talking was kind of a prick and did not want people leaving. I think he would have expected me to stay even if he knew the reason for my pain 😛 My accomplishment was yesterday and I ran a race. I lost out of $500 because the volunteers sent me and the 2nd place female in the wrong direction at mile 10. It sucked, so I ate my weight in Wegmans mega muffins <3

Sounds like a pretty good week! It’s nice for new parents to get to interact with other adults–I’ve never been (yet to be? perhaps) a parent myself, but I’ve heard multiple folks say it can be pretty isolating to be a stay-at-home parent to young kiddos.
In other advice-people-have-told-me-that-I-don’t-actually-know-first-hand, reading to your baby is supposed to be super good for them. My parents read to me from the day I was born, and I was reading my age 3. Not to toot my own horn. I guess this is my way of saying, go Ave and Mommy for making those trips to the library!

Ave loves story time. We read bedtime books every night and other books almost every day. She seems completely interested in them even if she understands or not.
It can be isolating to be a SAHM, but that’s why I love my lactation support group and now story time. It’s a way to connect with and support other moms.

Suzy says
I love your snapchat stuff. It’s SO entertaining and my favourite part is watching Ave wake up from her naps. Her smile is contagious. I can’t remember if I responded to that snap you sent me about being sweaty after your run! That’s the one thing I don’t like about snapchat is that once I read the messages, I can’t go back and check them to respond; if I don’t respond right in that moment then I don’t at all and I hate that! It gives me a panicky feeling.
Anyway, glad you got a tonne of stuff done and had some good wine on the weekend. It’s so cool that you’re able to document all of this stuff–you’ll be so glad you did in the years to come.
My WIR is coming soon.

I love Snapchat and I was even contemplating not posting the Ave wake up video since I do it every single day, but since you, and a couple others, love it so much, I’m going to keep on doing it.
No worries about responding on SnapChat. It’s fleeting like that.

Hahah Snapchat filters have become so ridiculous yet so hilarious! I’ve been doing them with my nephew but I think I get more a kick out of them- I’m not sure he understands quite what’s going on! Love that you’re still being social despite the craziness that Mommyhood comes with- I’m sure the idea of Netflix & chill is oh so real!

I’ll talk to Oscar about it. He’s not a huge fan of dogs so you might have to get rid of them in order for him to be your accountant. I suspect that won’t be a problem.

Luvvvvvvv it all. You and miss monkey are just too cute! I love seeing all that personality in her facial expressions. Her eyes nose and mouth speak volumes. I’m sure her lttle voice speaks volumes as well 😉
Lulu and I have been out and about. I have been adamant about getting her out to run an errand every day so I feel better about life in general. Just kidding but seriously it’s nice to get us out of the house. She behaves well about 60% of the time. My favorite is going over to someone’s house during the day as its more relaxed, but I also love whizzing her around TJs because hey, free coffee!! The hubs and I had another date night and it was superb. I passed out afterwards, that’s how great it was LOL. I did wake up 4 hours later to attend to lulu but man those 4 hours were blissful:) so happy we are going to start having a weekly date night.

Your TJ’s has free coffee. I’m so jealous!
I try to get out with Ave too, although usually only once a day or less because she can’t really do more than that without overstimulating or missing nap time, which leads to melt down. Sadly, my kid can’t seem to fall asleep just anywhere. When I stay within her limits though, she thrives. I know one day we’ll be able to push those boundaries a little bit more.

Don’t make me get Snapchat so I can take part in your daily shenanigans. No, really, I absolutely can’t because blogging and Instagram are time black holes already.
Look at your multi-facetiousness being both a monkey mama and social butterfly ;). Honestly, though, I’m happy for you and wish I could have joined on one or the other occasion. That part of my life has been lacking these past months. Nephew visits aside obviously.
Also, I think replying to mails isn’t much less exciting or, well, important ;).
