Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I did a whole lot of nothing last week, and I loved it.
After being super social for the past several weeks, I needed a break from it all. Aside from hosting my mom for a quick overnight visit, the kid and I relaxed a lot. Alright, I chilled while I put Ave to work. I gotta take advantage of the free labor.
(“Don’t make me clean the bathrooms again, Mom.”)
As such, we did lots of tummy time (she’s looking into going pro), we read a bunch of books, our favorite being Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type, and we went on a smattering of walks.
One day, we celebrated a self-appointed Pajama Day, which involved lounging around in our PJ’s all day long. We didn’t leave the house, we didn’t entertain anyone, and we didn’t even change our clothes. Alright fine, Ave had an outfit swap but only because she soiled her first set. Her bad.
As a result of all our resting and recharging, I managed to publish three blog posts, submit a handful of recipes to Food Gawker and send off a post to Scary Mommy. Cross those fingers for me; your toes wouldn’t hurt either.
I also finished a bracelet, tested some recipes and began a love affair with Friday Night Lights. It was a good week for the soul.
On that note, I’m making next week’s roundup the Self Care edition. You could stick to your traditional lists or if you’re feeling frisky, join me for a week of debauchery, self-love and pampering. I hope to see you there.
It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week, big or small?

those muffins look so good! I will remain forever impressed with what you get done while home with the baby. I couldn’t have done it! I can’t believe how big she is getting, so cute 🙂

Your last week sounds fantastic! I am glad you got to unwind from those very social past few weeks. Quality time and pj days should occure way more often. I had my fair share of pj days too last week. Not that intentional though.
The bean salad looks fantastic. And fingers and toes crossed for all you submitted!!!

All my FoodGawker submissions were rejected. I’m still hoping for the Scary Mommy submission though. Keep crossing those fingers and toes.

Sometimes the things we don’t do – i.e. less stress – are the superior accomplishments. No happy baby ever came about from a stressed out mum [okay, I made that one up but totally believe it and that’s what counts, right?].
The first picture of Ave is priceless although all the other ones are cute, too.
Now you know I’m not a salad person but beans + tomatoes that might be of the homegrown variety? Count me in.

Meghan says
The tomatoes were a mix of the ones in my CSA and homegrown. You would have definitely liked this salad. I’ll be sharing the recipe next summer. 🙂
Relaxing is one of the best things you can do for yourself and a pretty good lesson to teach the kid.

So I’m super inspired now by your week of not doing much and just LIVING with the baby; that sounds like an amazing week and so needed. I love that you took the time to do that, because it’s so rare especially when we feel pressured to be busy a lot. Thank you for this example, and I’m thinking that a self-appointed PJ day sounds like a dream.

Friday night lights. Yes! My hubby got me hooked on that when we met and I was so skeptical, but then I couldn’t stop watching them and knocked out all the episodes and seasons over a winter. It’s so well cast and written. I can’t identify with it but I loved watching it and the characters. I still know nada about football. Aye vey the days when we had that kinda time. So happy I have my iPad, I feel like I can still watch stuff as I feed Lulu but choose not to of course. Nothing to do with diapers and burps Wink wink.

I’ve already polished off the first season and am now a few episodes into season two. I guess I just needed some down time. I can’t imagine why. 😉

Yes to this week! After a time of being social – heck even a day of it – I definitely need my downtime. I’m glad you were able to balance your week of wild debaucheries with a week of increased PJs and TV watching. I’m sure Ave loved it as well.
And that bracelet! Look at you!! You joke that this may be your next calling, but man, I was never able to make one that epic.
Hope this week is another good one!

This past weekend I was with my team in the Adirondacks running up some beautiful hills. I had a blast, disconnected from social media and work and enjoyed my team. It was a life changing experience. Last week I also started at a new part time job and made quinoa for the first time in a couple months.
Have a great week Meg!

Green is the best color for Ave! Love that photo. Soon she’ll be hamming for the camera. I think every week should have one designated day for pj’s and staying home for moms and babes that first year. Once she’s up and running you’ll be looking for reasons to get out, lol!
It it looks like not all of that time was spent loafing, there was some muffining involved too! I have a soft spot for all things baked. It’s around my middle. Fingers crossed for you, of course! My toes are too short, but they’ll be thinking of you.
Meghan says
I have a soft spot for baked goods too so you’re in good company. 🙂
I like the sound of multiple PJ days right now.

Self care edition? Sounds scandalous. Do we need to keep it G-rated? ha ha ha… jk. Glad you had a good relaxing week. We all need those. I had a day like that on Saturday, followed by your advice to do nothing. And as always, you were right and it was exactly what this old girl needed.
My WIR is comin’ up! I’m going for a run first and then I’ll get it up when I’m back. xo

You can keep it G rated or go X if that’s your pleasure.
I give good advice. Taking it is another thing though. 🙂

Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar says
Next week is the self-care edition?! Uh oh. That means I have to do self-care. Which means I have to find time for self care. Gulp. I got papers to grade, lady!
But on that note, this sounds like an awesome self-carey kind of a week. Ave has awesome taste in books and pajamas. And stuffed animals. But honestly, Ave, it seems like it really isn’t too much to ask to help your mom clean the bathroom. I mean really.
I’ve enjoyed hearing more from you on the blog, Meg!

I feel like I have more and more of those reclusive weeks the older I get, possibly because more and more of my friends live on the other side of the continent and it’s become so much easer just to not go out. Well that and I’m not super social to begin with. I should probably cut back on talking to myself, though. Gotta keep the men in white coats at bay.

I love Click, Clack, Moo!
Sounds like a wonderful week. I’m experiencing a collision of spouse’s shoulder surgery with aging parents with college son hitting academic walls with daughter needing driving lessons and it’s been a hell of a week. When taking your daughter on her 3rd and 4th hours behind the wheel is a “break” . . . well you know it’s been pretty bad.
. . . picked the wrong week to give up caffeine . . . my spouse is doing just fine, since he chose to do it in conjunction with his surgery and Percocet has been taking the edge off. Not so much me.
Great idea for a way to spend the week, Meg!

Days where you stay in your PJs and don’t leave your house all day can be so therapeutic! Especially when you’ve got a good show to marathon through. It can be hard to allow myself to do that though, when I’ve got a house to clean, a blog I should probably update at some point, and a car that needs an oil change.

I’ll have you know that I made your drop biscuit recipe and added only a *little* bit more cheese and some scallions and the people who ate them FLIPPED out.
So thank you for a great recipe. All your recipes are good. I have tried many. I have to be judicious because if I try too many that include bread, I start to RESEMBLE the bread – all soft and pillowy.
Also, for real, the entire country needs to take some collective unstructured time so we can all figure out our business. Which is what that PJ day was – unstructured time. If we all did that, I think many things would be solved.
Especially if those magic bars were introduced into our unstructured time with a glass of unstructured milk and a Walking Dead Marathon.
Meghan says
You are most welcome and it’s so lovely to hear from you! I hope all is well in your homestead. I miss hearing about your chickens and life, not necessarily in that order.
The magic bars would be beautiful dipped in unstructured milk at an unstructured time.
