You Can Do It; Put Your Happy Into It

June 11, 2015 by Meghan 42 Comments

Despite my curmudgeon stance earlier this week, life is really, really, ridiculously good looking.

Now give that opening sentence your best Blue Steele. I like it.

On Monday, I dropped a whole lotta sour puss face, and you took it like a champ. Thanks for listening. You’re pretty spectacular, especially since the act of expelling my negative energy on paper, also known as the Internet, has allowed me to focus on all the positives in my life, and believe you me, there’s heaps of them.

By the way, I’m feeling leaps and bounds better; thanks for noticing.

I’d like to reward you for putting up with my cranky pants, sans pants, which is why I’m sharing the good stuff today, although not my fancy salts or olive oils. Actually, if push came to shove, I’d happily give you a taste of those too. I’d even share my sandwich.

Tomato, Mozzarella, Avocado Pesto SandwichIn fact, the recipe is coming your way very soon. In the meantime, here’s some snippets of my happy lately.

The Surroundings

Peonies from my front yard, which I cut and then photographed against white poster board so you could actually see the color.

Peonies on the Kitchen Island

Peonies

This lovely little guy is a Lupine and the Hubby’s favorite. I call him George; he’s the baby daddy for Stella and Susie in the background.

Lupines Flowers

Basil at the office. Edible arrangements from coworkers make the best gifts.

Office Basil

Garlic Scapes from my garden. I’m waiting, not so patiently, for them to curl.

Garlic Scapes

And this fella is still noshing on his Nip, while purring, “My precious.”

Oscar and the Nip

I’m cutting Oscar some slack because we had a fox on our front lawn last week, which scared the ever loving crap outta him, even though he was safely indoors at the time.

The Life

I started drinking warm lemon water. It makes a nice addition to my morning lists. No worries, coffee consumption comes after.

Lemon Water and Lists

The Hubby and I hit up another “Five for Friday” at Nature’s Bin. Five food pairings, five wine samplings all for $5, while you grocery shop. The most recent pairings were all different desserts, making this one phenomenal.

Cookouts and bonfires with friends. I’ll have you know, I along with one other, created the burning blaze you see before you. I like fire.

Fire Pit

Outdoor Lights

I’ve been making way back to the gym and beloved spinning classes.

Meg Sweaty Gym Selfie

I snuck in a yoga class too.

The Food

The CSA has arrived, and I’m over the moon happy about that.

Summer 2015 CSA Week OneI also managed to put a decent dent in our share too.

Scrambled Eggs, Swiss Chard and Tuscan Herb Toast

Raspberry Rhubarb Coffee Cake

Unusal Breakfast Banana Coffee Cake, Brie and Crackers, and Berries

Hubby's Salad

The best part is the last photo belongs to the Hubby. Not only did he make himself a giant salad, he took a picture of it too. Day made.

Thanks for letting me Think Out Loud, Ms. Amanda.

What’s something positive happening in your world right now?

Sandwiches are my go-to food at the moment. Can’t wait for the recipe!
I have so much positive things in my world right now that I don’t know where to start. It scares me a bit actually 😉

Dude, that’s fantastic life has got you on Happy Street, not to be confused with Easy Street, unless of course that’s how you roll. 😉

      Why are you scared?

Aww well I love seeing you so happy and positive! I was just thinking yesterday morning how life is pretty freaking amazing at the moment, and then I got struck by a case of the stanky-face later in the afternoon 😆 But that’s life, I guess… You win some and you lose some. Today I’m very much planning on winning it ALL, starting with breakfast, coffee, and a nice little trip to the gym to get my head on right.

A CSA like that one would make me happy too! Strawberries and rhubarb are the dream combination. I’ve been loving them together in compotes lately. And now that strawberries are in season I feel like a crisp is going to need to happen soon!

Something positive happening in my life is the fact that my sister is flying in from England on Friday for the week. Last time she was back was Christmas, so I can’t wait to see her!

We got another batch of strawberries and rhubarb this week so I’m feeling pretty damn lucky. Maybe even crisp worthy. A strawberry rhubarb crisp sounds divine.

Have fun with your sister this week!!

I feel like if you lived here near me that you’d be such a good influence on my life. I’d eat more salads, run less and do more things like yoga and spinning. I’d pet your cats and feel chill. I’d have to pay you to hang out with me that much, but still. And I love that your question is about positivity. Something positive in my life right now is that Jake, my oldest teenager, is doing really well and making healthy choices after going through a pretty rough patch this year (dealing with being diagnosed with Tourrette’s and anxiety and ADHD and taking meds etc). He’s a champ and I’m so thankful for our relationship.

Also, I could be a great influence in some ways and then a devilish one in others: day drinking, cough, cough.

It must be those good vibes coming from Cleveland, because work finally calmed down a little this week and I actually feel organized (so very important for us Type A’s, as you well know).

Ooh and I made pistachio pesto and a strawberry basil smoothie yesterday, courtesy of my garden. Aren’t you proud?? 🙂 Hoping to score some more goods at the farmers market, which opens this weekend(!)

I’m so glad to hear that about work. It actually calmed down a little bit for me too this week (hooray) and I managed to tackle some pretty big projects so I was thrilled about that.

I’m super impressed and love your garden produce and herbs are seeing action. Have fun farmers marketing.

I’m totally loving your cat in the nip pic. My neighbor the cat lady is bringing her cats over tonight to meet my dogs. She’s trying to get them used to dogs so she can get one. My dogs happen to smaller than her cats so this will be hysterical!!! She says “I’m going to dog my cats…” Ok yes I love my neighbors
